Organic Bunny Box December 2018 Review

In addition to the already cute exterior box, you get a really nicely designed and sturdy reusable gift box each month that houses all of your organic goodies. It seems to change ever so often as well, so you can amass a collection of different designs. This one looks really cozy for the winter.

The lid stays put with magnets so you can use it again after you've raided it. It reads: "For the glamorous girl with a green heart"

DIY Detox Mask in Coconut Rose, 2 oz. - Retail Value $16.00

When I used this mask I thought I'd go full luxury and use rosewater instead of tap water to mix it with. I think the results were pretty nice! This bottle has quite a bit of product in it, so even after using a full mask worth, it looked like I barely touched it. This should last quite a while which is great news. After removing the mask once it dried, my face felt supple and received the full effects of the power of the coconut mixed with the rose!

Hot Chocolate with Chaga and Turkey Tail Mushrooms, one serving size - Retail Value $4.95

This hot chocolate powder contains cacao, brown sugar, and vanilla extract along with superfoods: chaga and turkey tail mushrooms. Instead of just going the swiss miss route, this one will lend a hand with anti-oxidant, anti-viral, and anti-inflammatory properties. The package I received is marked as "single serving" but it seems like a pretty large amount for just one cup of hot chocolate. The directions on the back simply say to dissolve contents in milk or water, but the website offers the more detailed "2 tablespoons" without giving a liquid ratio. I decided to just use 2 tablespoons in an average sized mug to try it out. I didn't have any milk on hand, so I used water and it's quite chocolatey and good as is, but I can tell it'd be better with a thicker liquid. Of course, you can use any sort of milk you please, like almond or soy. I can't taste any mushroomy quality which is probably a bonus to those who don't care for them. This is a nice way to get hot chocolate in you with added benefits. I'm game!

There's also an info card for the hot chocolate.

withSimplicity Eye Powder in Gingerbread - Retail Value $12.00

I'm going to be honest, an eye shadow this dark of a shade isn't something I normally go for. I stick to neutrals to my pale skin and pinks for daily looks. Once on the skin, this isn't as dark as it looks though. It has a really vibrant sparkle to it which is also something I normally shy away from since I love mattes. This shadow is super easy to soften and then build upon so it should make a really nice natural product for someone who goes for darker sparkly hues.

Osmia Organics Lip Doctor, 0.28 oz. - Retail Value $12.00

This lip balm is suuuuper hydrating! Even though I don't love the smell of cocoa for beauty products, I've found myself reaching for this often and it's becoming a great go-to this winter season. I also happen to really like the chubbiness of the stick and the design of the packaging that allows me to twist the stick up at the top. It feels nice and substantial. The ingredients (Lavender-infused Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil*, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil*, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter*, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Cera Alba (Beeswax)*, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Nut Oil*) are also 87% organic which is nice. This is really packed with moisturizing stuff!

Corpus Natural Deodorant in Third Rose, 1.2 oz. travel size - Estimated Retail Value $9.33 (Buy 3 of this size for $28.00, or a full 2.6 oz size for $22.00)

Okay, so I've been getting served Instagram ads about this exact deodorant for months and the packaging is so beautiful that I've been tempted. Needless to say, I'm happy to see this in the box this month. First of all, it smells ahhhhmazing. The rose scent isn't too overpowering but subtle and fresh. Even though I wish it were full size- this is great for travel. I think I've successfully made the switch to natural deodorants since I started using them maybe about 5 weeks ago. They didn't seem to work at first but I was told by literature (and reader comments) that it does take time for the body to acclimate to it. At any rate, this one is more like a solid gel and glides right on, as opposed to some of the more powdery solids I've used. My only qualm is that it pushes up from the bottom like a push pop and I kind of have to keep it pushed up while using or it will just slide back into the container. A pretty slight inconvenience but probably makes for a simpler design, so I will deal.

Root White Gold Illuminator - Retail Value $14.00

I've been getting so many highlighters lately! This one is obviously in a powder form which can be slightly messy if there is too much exposed once you unscrew the cap. Luckily, this has a rotating sifted piece that allows you to seal it so loose powder doesn't come out while it's not in use. You can't tell as much in the above photo, but it has a super sparkly champagne color to it. I realize the point of highlighters is to add shimmer and illuminate areas of our face, but I think this one is a bit too sparkly for my tastes.

Province Apothecary Healing Eczema Balm, 0.5 oz. - Retail Value $19.00

I'm lucky enough to not have any eczema trouble with my skin, so I can't speak to how well this balm may soothe it. However, I do really like the feel of this and it contains colloidal oatmeal which is supposed to relieve itchiness and inflammation as well as zinc oxide which "accelerates the renewal of the skin cells. It has anti-inflammatory properties that can calm redness and irritation." Both of those sound super helpful and using natural products for skin problems is always the best way to begin. The scent is almost nonexistent which is nice as to not add strong fragrance to problems, and it comes in a small canister that can easily be with you on the go.

Franklin & Whitman Jefferson Square Botanical Steam, 4 oz. - Retail Value $21.95

I've never done an at home space steam before. I followed the directions and added a couple tablespoons into a bowl and added four cups of boiling water. After letting it cool slightly, I draped a towel over my head and the bowl, with my face hovering above the steaming water. It immediately made me feel like my pores were opening up and singing. After 10 minutes, I took the towel tent off of me and felt incredibly refreshed. Highly recommend something like this as it made me feel so clean and lovely, just with some simple natural ingredients!

Prim and Pure Lip Tint in Ruby Slipper - Retail Value $14.99 (found here for $12.99)

Oh wow- I really like this even though I'm not typically into glosses. I really like this applicator, as I can dispense product separately than spreading it onto my lips and it's really soft. The shade looks really dark in the tube, but once it's on, it's quite delicate and sheer which I think is great for a gloss. This is a good one to throw on when you don't want heavy makeup but want a little color to your lips! It's also really hydrating and lightweight which is a nice change from the matte lipsticks I normally wear.

Absorb Skincare's The Face Oil, 1 oz. (+ organic cotton pouch) - Retail Value $105.00

First off- really cool that this came in its own organic cotton pouch that I can reuse for travel! Looks like this only comes with sample packs on their site so there's not a solid retail value on it. Now, the oil. Holy moly, this is one of the priciest skincare items I've received in a box so I feel very fancy and luxurious. I've been using it on and off with another serum and I'm really liking it. it has a light scent that reminds me of sunflower oil though this doesn't contain any. I feel like I've said that before, so I'll need to pinpoint what this scent is! While it does have a slightly oily feel to it, it's super lightweight and as the name would have you assume, it absorbs quickly and easily. It's made with a few ingredients I'm newer to like pomegranate seed CO2, prickly pear seed oil, raspberry seed CO2, and maracuja oil. With others like neroli, helichrysum, and rosemary antioxidant CO2. This definitely leaves my skin feeling hydrated and extremely soft. I use it before I put on my moisturizer with SPF, but they say you can also use it over makeup throughout the day by patting it onto your face when you're feeling dry.

Here are swatches for the Root White Gold Illuminator, withSimplicity Eye Powder in Gingerbread, and the Prim and Pure Lip Tint in Ruby Slipper.

Verdict: The Organic Bunny Box included a great mix of natural makeup, skincare, personal hygiene, and even included a consumable! I also enjoy discovering new beauty brands, even if some the products this time around had a little too much sparkle for me. The Absorb face oil was a clear winner for me on value alone, but also on products I use. The rose mask, natural deodorant, botanical steam, hot chocolate, lip balm, and lip tint were also winners for me this time around. This box has a retail value of $229.22 for the 10 items included. That's an outstanding value for a $59.00 box!

Gosh, every time I see this reviewed I’m always tempted to re-sub 🙂 This used to be one of my most fun boxes to receive because I never knew what I was going to get since spoilers were never released before I got my box, but I always knew it was going to be filled with a lot of nice goodies to try!

Wow! What a great mix of items and thoughtfully curated. I wonder how difficult it is to come up with such a large (and great) mix of items like this every month? I can see it being quarterly or even every other month and still being successful

I just bought the lip tint. It looks great! I would totally sub to this box if it was quarterly, but month to month is a bit much for the price point and also the large amount of item.

Although it isn’t quarterly, she does have the option to get the box every other month if you purchase a prepaid plan. All you have to do is email her to let her know that you’d prefer a box every other month. Who knows, it might not hurt to ask before subbing if you could get one quarterly instead. 🙂 Also, the prepaid subs don’t automatically renew, so you don’t have to worry about cancelling.

I really wish it was quarterly, too. I can’t get through all the products in 4 weeks!

OMFG that looks like an amazing box! Why have I never seen this before. I love their range of products, it’s nice to see a sub go beyond face creams. I may need to add another sub to my monthly boxes even though I’m already product overloaded as is.
