Why do all the beauty boxes insist on giving out bright red lipstick – it is so unflattering on so many people. I would love a more neutral color – sigh – what a waste. (and that beauty blender is ridiculously tiny!)

Twyla

LOL and I hate that so many boxes give out neutrals and browns 🙂 I only wears reds and berries. Thankfully I can give my daughters the colors I don’t want and keep all the beautiful reds to myself. 😀

Try BoxyCharm, they seem to love giving nothing but brown and neutral colors.

I just got my box and there was no coupon. Are they not including it anymore, or was this an oversight in my box?

Reply ButtonReply

Twyla

I think it might have been an oversight… I got a 5$ coupon card in my box.

My box arrived yesterday and I love the makeup bag. In fact I’ve liked most of the bags I’ve gotten from Macys. I did notice that there is no longer free shipping in beauty but I used my coupon on line and picked up in store and while there used the coupon again for another item. It an hour drive away for me but I go a couple times a month.

Yeah..about to cancel..Macys has awful customer service, and now no free shipping for beauty…there is no macy store in my area, they closed down 5/6 years ago. They really made an awful choice to not do the free shipping. I guess too many people were taking advantage of maybe just using a coupon to get a “free” item and not add other items into the order yo make it worth their while, so Macys was loosing money..I get that part, but if you just straight out buy makeup from their site, they will loose a lot of customers. They should have warned people about the changes

I’d like to order but it’s taking me to March. If anyone wants, I will pay the cost plus shipping for Feb.

Reply ButtonReply

Ela Avar

Same here. Disappointing. I’ll watch for March spoilers and may sign up then.

Reply ButtonReply

JuJu

You will not be able to sign up for March then. You have to subscribe by February 10th to get the March box. That’s how the Macy’s subscription works.

Twyla

They don’t release spoilers until it is too late to get that month’s box. Just an FYI

Eliz

Just food for thought, Macys has sent 5 lip products over the last 6 boxes. Every.single.one has been red. I don’t know where people are getting their neutral lippies but I have never gotten one in a beauty box ever and I have subbed Play, Allure, Beautyfix and Macy’s. Birchbox maybe? Ipsy? Help!

Reply ButtonReply

Tjaren

Boxycharm has sent out neutrals.

Leslie

Another underwhelming box Macy’s! They now charge $10.95 flat shipping under $49 so unless you are close to a Macy’s or happen to be there the coupons are no longer a value to the box (even then their online selection is WAY bigger than in store). This box really doesn’t seem to have a good value anymore, for $15 dollars I expect to see a larger size item and more variety. They include a lot of masks and mascaras, haven’t seen much skincare at all and never any eyeshadow. I feel like for the value of products we get this box seems like it should be priced at 10 dollars like birchbox, ipsy or play. This month might be it for me.

I received a shipping notice this morning for the February box!

Reply ButtonReply

Dawn Stephens

Yes that alone made me want to cancel this box!

Reply ButtonReply

Heather

Did anyone notice that beauty is no longer free shipping?! Which means you cannot use the Macy’s coupons in the box without paying for shipping. 🙁

Reply ButtonReply

Dawn Stephens

Yes that alone made me want to cancel this box!

Reply ButtonReply

Nan

Yes it’s been that way for a month or so. I think it’s $49 now.

Reply ButtonReply

Nan

Cancelled my subscription and they billed me for February anyway. Ugh.

Reply ButtonReply

Ashley

Nan, I’ll buy your box!

Reply ButtonReply

Nan

I have it listed on Ebay.

Laura

I cancelled my subscription on December 27th. Received January’s box, and also just got billed for February. My account still says “Cancel Pending.” I guess you have to get the next 2 boxes before they accept the cancellation…

Reply ButtonReply

Nan

Thanks for the info. I did know the deadline and cancelled early, but guess they had a mixup.

Reply ButtonReply

JuJu

You have to cancel by the 10th of the month if you don’t want to be billed.

Reply ButtonReply

Nan

Oh I know and I did do that. I have the confirmation and my account even says it is cancelled. Now I just have to waste my time getting it corrected and getting my money back. Nothing is ever easy lol.

Melissa

That’s how they work. 👎🏼 I can’t remeber the cut off but once the spoilers are out it’s too late. I cancelled too but I’ll still get February. This is one reason I don’t like this box

Lilly

I wish they’d partner with a sensible brand like Wacoal again instead of a painful stick on thing for not- so nicely attired bodies.

I was impressed with the free panties. EVERYONE likely wears panties, but if not, please keep your privates private. 🙂

I’m so liking this box! Yay RED! V-day and Christmas boxes always have those pinks and reds that I so love! My last box got lost but somehow up showing up at my doorstep step battered 20 days after it was shipped! This is the first time that’s happened with Macy’s but they did issued a refund; after USPS said it was lost or damaged.

Reply ButtonReply

Nat

My box was also lost and later found this month. I originally was supposed to get it on the 4th. Then after I didn’t get it I contacted Macy’s and wanted another one shipped. They said that it couldn’t be done and refunded me. I went to ebay and purchased one. Original Macy’s box actually showed up about 15 days later. Anyways, now I got 2 January boxes. Loved products in January box and the clear pouch

Reply ButtonReply

Dena

WOW, my box arrived very late. Actually I was given the shipment date with no other tracking. I was going to report my box missing that day if finally showed up. What the heck happened last month with our boxes weird!

Reply ButtonReply

Paula

Same thing happened to me. I never got the box, but they gave me a refund without me even contacting them.

Reply ButtonReply

Heather

Why do subscription boxes always send red lipgloss/lipstick? I can’t wear red–does anyone have any tips for trying to wear red lipgloss?

Reply ButtonReply

Kathy Richardson

Try applying a sheer wash of the lip product with your fingertip so you don’t get the full on color saturation. If you want more color, top with a pink, coral, or nude color lip gloss, balm, or sheer lipstick. If you use lip liner, you want to use one in the same color as the topper color.

Reply ButtonReply

Heather

Thanks for the tips!

Sarah

Great tip, thanks!

JuJu

Lol, I feel the opposite way, that subscriptions always send nude tones that I can’t use. 😊

As for tips- just wear it! I am not sure what tips you are referring to.

Regarding the shipping issue people are mentioning, is it that Macy’s doesn’t honor the discount cards in their stores, or that some of you don’t have a Macy’s store nearby?

I’m a bit confused about this because I’d be embarrassed to go into Macy’s with a card for something I wanted at a slightly better price, and be told ” We don’t accept these cards”.

I’ve been subscribed almost from the start, but never have thought their cosmetics are superior to Sephora, so I choose Sephora out of habit and also a long history with no problems.

Thanks to anyone who knows about the cards and can clarify.

Reply ButtonReply

JuJu

By shipping issue are you referring to the fact that now Macy’s requires a $49 minimum for beauty purchase?

The coupon card works both online and in store, and in fact you can use the same card twice. It USED to be a really good deal. The problem now is that since they no longer ship beauty purchases for free, it’s just not a good deal anymore. I can’t even come up with ideas on what I would spend $50 every month on, and only being able to use the card in store is not a good alternative either, considering their online selection is much larger.

Reply ButtonReply

Twyla

I used my card in store, I have also ordered online using the card, and taken advantage of the free to store shipping. So far I haven’t had issues with either method.

Reply ButtonReply

Nina

Can you only use one card per purchase? Or can you stack them towards one purchase?

Nancyisshopping

Love it! I always love the Macy’s box. That bag is adorable and I have been wanting to try breast petals for my right breast with a darn hyperactive nipple. I’m tired of having one keep popping out all the time.

Too much information?? lol

Reply ButtonReply

Lori

I’m sooo looking forward to this box! I’m already using that setting powder and it sets makeup flawlessly, the origins mask I’ve been wanting to try, the mini beauty blender is useful , mascara always in need as it needs to be replaced so often , the perfume sample is great , breast petals are nice and bonus is full size ABH lippy. The bag is sooo unique! I love Macy’s . The coupon I see as a bonus , sometimes I use it sometimes I don’t. If anything you can always use it in store to avoid shipping ? Plus I’ve heard that the $10 minimum does not apply in store 😉

Reply ButtonReply

Anna

I like this box. Should I wait until February 1st to subscribe if I want it but don’t want to get January’s?

Reply ButtonReply

Melissa

From the way I understand is you now can’t get February box, if you sign up you will get March as your first. Macy’s doesn’t release spoilers early so once they are out you can’t get the box. I wanted January so I signed up but only to get February as my first box.

Reply ButtonReply

Julie B.

Yes I don’t really get why Macy’s does it, but instead of releasing spoilers to entice you to get the box, they release spoilers when it’s too late to get it. They charge you at the end of the previous month when you have no idea what’s coming. This policy, plus the end of the free shipping for any beauty purchase, is what made me cancel.

Anna

Oh dang that sucks. Well thanks for replying to let me now that.

IV

I honestly just want the lip pouch👄

Reply ButtonReply

Rochelle

I want the lip pouch too! Would be so cute to send to my daughter & roommates in their Valentine’s Day care package! I’m happy to swap for 4 if anyone has theirs already 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Elle Em

SAME! 😍💋

Reply ButtonReply

Nancyisshopping

I’m sure someone will put it in the swap section.

Reply ButtonReply

Beccaox

I’d be happy to trade for all these unwanted petals 😊

That bag is adorable… I like the fact that Macy’s send out perfume each month… but the samples are small.. I soy gives 1 to 3 full sized products each month and sometimes 5… I think Macy’s should include at least 2 full sizes for $15 like Allure.

I hope everyone has a great weekend…..

Reply ButtonReply

Justmissjamey

What’s “soy”?! When I looked it showed a candle sub…and it was like one candle

Reply ButtonReply

Tanya

Dang it – another red lipstick I’ll never wear. I should have expected that around Valentine’s day! I don’t have a use for the pasties, but I guess it’s interesting that a non-beauty item is included. Also have no need for the bag. The main thing I’m semi-excited about is the Black Opium, but that’s just a tiny sample. Overall, this month is a bit of a let-down for me but I’ve liked past month’s well enough to not cancel my sub yet.

Spring and summer boxes tend to have items that I’m more interested in, so hurry up and get here, March!

Reply ButtonReply

Twyla

I love a bright red lip, and other than the pastie, pretty happy with February! LOVE that bag, so cute!

Wonder if my man will like the pasties LOL

Reply ButtonReply

Allison

The breast petals are meant to be worn under clothing so that your nips aren’t poking out if you aren’t wearing a bra or have one with little to no padding, not to be worn like regular pasties. Not that that will necessarily make it any more useful to you, but thought I’d let you know if you didn’t know already 🙂

Reply ButtonReply

Twyla

Thank you! I’ve never tried pasties or petals in any variety. 🙂

Dani

Any coupons for this box?

Reply ButtonReply

JuJu

Heh, interesting makeup bag.

But I am glad I am no longer subscribed – in addition to the $50 free shipping minimum they implemented on their website for beauty items, with at least four of the above items I already own multiples. And I tried those breast petals once – they totally show through clothing! They make it look like you have these enormous weirdly shaped nipples. I honestly fail to see the point.

The shipping thing though, it used to be that I could buy a $27 Clinique item for $22 or $17, depending on the coupon that month, and get a 7-piece free gift in addition, all for basically a pittance. It’s just not worth it (to me) anymore if I have to spend at least $50 every time. With the exception of basics like body wash, shampoo and deodorant, I don’t need stuff on a monthly basis like that.

Reply ButtonReply

Jeannie

Yeah. I’m still really annoyed about the shipping! They’ve lost me as a customer for a while, maybe forever.

Reply ButtonReply

JuJu

That is precisely how I feel. Just zero incentive to buy from their site anymore.

For the $50 minimum, Ulta is far superior.

Nina

Exactly! I already spend my extra cash on tons of beauty boxes… I’m not going to be purchasing $50 worth of MORE products every month. I might have splurged on a $20 item like you said… their loss I guess
