What Is Le Tote?

If you don't know about Le Tote, they're a clothing rental service that allows you to wear and hang on to clothing and accessories as long as you'd like with no commitment to buy them (although you will be charged each month, regardless of if you send your tote back to get a new one or not). If you do happen to fall in love with something, you can purchase it at a discounted rate (and I'll mention that they also have further "tote sales" at times). They offer regular and maternity subscriptions in several levels from 8-15 pieces at a time. You don't have a stylist, but their system will suggest items based on a series of questions when you first sign up and you'll also have full control to swap out anything you don't like before it ships. I usually choose ALL of my items, but Le Tote has made a few good suggestions that I've kept in the tote.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

About Le Tote

The Subscription Box: Le Tote

The Cost: $79/month for 8 items, $99/month for 10 items, $119/month for 15 items. Subscriptions get cheaper with the omission of accessories.

The Products: Rent 8, 10, or 15 pieces of clothing and accessories for as long as you like with the option to purchase with a discount.

Ships to: Contiguous 48 States in the USA (no Hawaii, Puerto Rico, APO/FPO, or Alaska, unfortunately).

How Le Tote Works

If you're curious as to how the signup process works, I wrote a more in-depth article in October when I received my first delivery and walked through every step of the way. If you're new to Le Tote, that's a great place to start! I also wrote some tips on how to get the sizing right.

There's usually a pamphlet that comes with your items but every other month mine seems to be missing. I can still log into my account to see them as well as refer to the shipping email that has all of the prices listed, so it's no big deal to me.

You'll also receive a pre-paid mailer to return any of the clothing and accessories you don't end up purchasing.

This Month's Le Tote Clothing & Accessories

The tote I signed up for sends me 10 total pieces (broken down into 7 clothing items and 3 accessories every month). Let's check out what I chose!

Hayes Plaid Infinity Scarf - Retail Value $44.00 (Le Tote Price $36.00)

I don't wear scarves as much as I used to, but this one spoke to me when I saw it on the site. I love a neutral buffalo plaid and this one is in between a heavy chunky scarf and a thin, more "decorative" one. My favorite part about infinity scarves is that you don't have to style it too much. Just wrap it around your neck twice and you're good to go. It has a great size to it and it matches everything I own.

The jewelry comes in a bubble pouch, and each has individual bags that you'll need to keep to return them in.

Kate Spade New York Cat Bracelet - Retail Value $58.00 (Le Tote Price $46.00)

I am IN LOVE with this bracelet. I have two kitties of my own and am always tickled to find items that are fun but still classy to fly my cat lady flag. My favorite thing about this gold bracelet (besides the cat ears) is how petite it is. I have really small wrists so even though I love bangles, they can be too large and thus annoying to wear. This is more of a cuff but then has a delicate gold chain that latches in the back to secure it to my wrist. I also thought this would be tricky to take on and off on my own (especially with my stiletto nails) but it's not at all. I must say that this is the piece I've been wearing the most so far and am reaaaally tempted to purchase it.

Rebecca Minkoff Heart Cut Out Ring - Retail Value $28.00 (Le Tote Price $22.00)

Rings are another accessory I wear most often but instead of my usual delicate bands, I thought I'd try this wider one because I liked the heart cut-outs. It fits well and due to the open band, is adjustable. I haven't worn this as much as the bracelet but I do like the look of it quite a bit. The inside of the band also has "RM" (the designer's initials) with a tiny rhinestone set into it.

Hayes Marled Knit Sweater, size medium - Retail Value $70.00 (Le Tote Price $58.00)

Chunky grey (or heathered black and white) sweaters are MY THING. This one is incredibly soft and cozy but looking at the photos, I don't find it all that flattering on me. I think the seams at the front give a weird illusion that somehow accentuates my tummy? Am I making this up? I've been wearing it anyway since it's super comfy and I don't have to look at myself while wearing it. 😀 My favorite part is how wide the neck is- something about it makes it extra cozy. One random thing I'll mention is that when this arrived, I noticed it was HELLA static-y which is how the green sweater from last month was as well. I'm not sure how they clean the pieces in between wearers, but they need to incorporate anti-static something. Does anyone have a static hack? I've tried smearing a dryer sheet all over it but it doesn't always work.

Noir Mid Rise Velvet Pant, size large - Retail Value $82.00 (Le Tote Price $39.00)

I tried on a pair of Eileen Fisher super thin corduroy leggings once and sort of regret not buying them. These velvet pants have a very similar look so I thought I'd give them a try. I am pretty much always a large (or size 10) in pants, but these don't seem to fit me quite right. I'm not convinced that a medium would fit me, so I think they just might not be for my body. These pants have a zipper and double-snap closure at the waist, along with a raised seam detail down each leg. Overall, I think these are just a bit big and need to fit me more tightly to look flattering.

Cyrus Rib Textured Cardigan, size medium - Retail Value $70.00 (Le Tote Price $58.00)

I have a few cardigans I pop over my outfits in colder weather or at home but nothing in an actual color. I've welcome olive green into my life and so far it's been going really well and I tend to see it as a neutral. This ribbed green cardigan caught my eye as something that could add a little texture and color to my wardrobe. I think it's super flattering and I like how the stretchy ribbing feels. It's not terribly warm but does the trick when there's a bit of a chill to the air but I still want to have my shirt seen. The length is perfect and is just long enough to cover my butt if I'm wanting to wear leggings but feeling a little self-conscious.

Free People High Rise Legging, size 29 - Retail Value $58.00 (Le Tote Price $46.00/on additional sale for $30.00)

Oh, heck. I really like these! I am a skinny jean person through and through but don't cross over to the legging dept much because I like back pockets. These have them which makes them more classicly "jean-like" and I am kind of into how tight they are. I sometimes feel like a sausage in pants this tight, but this is how leggings are supposed to fit. I can just wear the above cardigan if I'm feeling shy though. My favorite detail is the rough edge of the cuffs. These make me feel like a cool kid.

SIXTEN Cropped Pullover Sweatshirt, size medium - Retail Value $72.00 (Le Tote Price $60.00)

Another top I chose this month is this cropped cream sweatshirt. It's a little on the activewear end of things and boyyyy is it ever comfy. It's not too thick, has an oversized boxy fit, and has a lot of interesting textures in the fabric. Perfect for lounging in sweats, or to pair with jeans for a quick jaunt to the grocery store or brunch.

MPG Houndstooth Scuba Jacket, size medium - Retail Value $110.00 (Le Tote Price $80.00)

I've probably mentioned before what a jacket hound I am. I already own too many and feel tremendous guilt each time I buy a new one since I don't *need* anymore. I just keep finding ones I love tho! Le Tote can help relieve my guilt while fueling my obsession by simply renting me new ones. I get a fresh coat without the guilt of owning another one. This houndstooth pattern is really cool, but the cacoon-look of it and the interesting sleeves grabbed my attention. It's made of a stretchy fabric that they rightfully call "scuba" which protects me from harsh wind without being bulky due to it's tight-knit. I think this coat looks classy but has a performance edge. At the cuff of the arms, there is a second inner sleeve that slides over the thumb and it also has some holes at the armpits to allow excessive heat to escape. Each side also has a zipper pocket to hold important things like keys. I feel like I should be jogging in this, but that will never happen.

Tart Geometric Print Jumpsuit, size large - Retail Value $167.00 (Le Tote Price $90.00)

The pant legs on this geometric jumpsuit are clearly way too long, but I'm trying to figure out a way to make it work since I do like how it looks! I might cuff them, but I don't think it will look great. Sigh. Being 5'3" has its setbacks. This sleeveless number has faux leather trim on the v-neck and arms and a zipper at the back. There are essential pockets too! It's made of a pretty thin material so it's not the best selection for winter, but I like popping sweaters over jumpsuits. I don't love exposing my legs when wearing dresses, so I've found that jumpsuits sort of gives that same ease of only having to wear one item without making me feel uncomfortable. It is a LOT of pattern so I think a solid sweatshirt over this could also work.

Verdict: I'm am still really loving Le Tote. Even though there is usually a dud in each delivery, I love the idea of not committing to the items but still getting to wear them for a whole month. It's always a great way to test trends, tiptoe outside my comfort zone, or even guiltlessly stock up on items I already know and love (like coats). I still have time to wear all of these, but the clear front-runners this month are the denim leggings, green cardigan, cream sweatshirt, and cat bracelet! I'll be sad to see them go, but at least I have to option to keep them if it ends up being too hard.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Le Tote deliveries are based on personal style preferences and will be a totally different experience for each person. Sign up today to see what you could be wearing in a few days!

Value Breakdown: The total retail value of the 10 items inside is $759.00 with an average of $75.90 per item but I got to rent them all for a month for just $99.00.

You HAVE to keep those leggings. They look incredible. You could be in their advertisement, I seriously thought they were denim. I own zero leggings and you may have convinced me to check these out. Thank you for your rad review!

Thank for the review! I’m new to clothing rental subscriptions, and I was interested in LeTote. This review helped! I agree with other commenters that you should keep the leggings. For static, I bought a can of static guard which smells like dying but actually works. For the length, I wonder, can you try using fashion tape on the inside of the legs to ‘hem’ them? I’m 5’4″ I always have this problem with pants, too. Fashion tape works for me, coupled with a safety pin on the seam for extra security.

LOL “smells like dying!”
Maybe I’ll try it out??
Good call on the fashion tape too! I ended up barely wearing them but will keep that idea at the top of my mind! Thanks!

Hey Beth! I got them from Nordstrom Rack (like almost ALL of my shoes) but they’re Dolce Vita brand. I stalked them for several weeks and am so glad I finally bought them because I wear them all the time!

That cat bracelet is adorable! Modcloth has the cutest cat flats, they’re classy and subtle, but still identifiable as cats, just search for TUK to find them. I’m always getting compliments when I wear mine.
