Julep Confetti Ready Mystery Box Review

Julep Confetti Ready Mystery Box - Eyeliner Box Side Top Julep Confetti Ready Mystery Box - Eyeliner Opened Front

When Pencil Met Gel Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Galaxy, Full-Size! Retail Value $16

I really like the gel pencil eyeliners from Julep – I find them to be creamy and buttery to apply, you can blend them out, and it will stay put! Galaxy is a black amethyst shimmer, but unfortunately, the purple tones don't show up in real life as they do on the website. Without that, this is just a basic black eyeliner with the tiniest hint of sparkle. I also received this exact shade in the recent Living Large Mystery Box.

Feels Like Velvet Full-Coverage Eyeshadow Duo in Dark and Stormy, Full-Size! Retail Value $24

I don’t have a lot of experience with the eyeshadows from Julep, and this duo is creamy and buttery to apply. The shades are intensely pigmented, and this duo would be perfect for a dramatic smoky eye.

Skip the Brush Blush Stick in Passionfruit, Full-Size! Retail Value $24

I am not much of a blush person, and this deep berry shade is too dark for my complexion. It does apply smoothly and can be blended out, and once it sets it isn’t cakey.

Here is the blush swatched below the eyeshadow and the eyeliner.

Julep Confetti Ready Mystery Box - Julep Nail Polish In Passionate Pisces Box Top Julep Confetti Ready Mystery Box - Julep Nail Polish In Passionate Pisces Top

Julep Nail Polish in Passionate Pisces, Full-Size! Retail Value $14

Reds are a nail polish shade I never really reach for, but this one is unique enough that I actually quite like it. It is described as a “resourceful burgundy for the passionate and powerful Pisces,” but that doesn’t really do much to tell you about the shade. It is burgundy, but it has a red shimmer base with flecks of gold sparkle. The formula was a bit thin, but two coats were enough for full opacity.

Here it is swatched.

Julep Confetti Ready Mystery Box - Bradie Box Top Julep Confetti Ready Mystery Box - Bradie Opened Top

Julep Nail Polish in Bradie, Full-Size! Estimated Value $14

This is a brand new shade made exclusively for the box, and it is described as a silver and iridescent glitter. It has silver and blue bar glitter as well as smaller flecks of turquoise glitter that really looks like confetti in nail polish form. The photo Julep showed of these polishes made it look like this could be built up to full opacity, but I have my doubts and think it is better as a topper. This did suck in all the top coat I applied, so you’ll need multiple coats if you want a smooth and shiny finish.

Julep Confetti Ready Mystery Box - Chira Box Top Julep Confetti Ready Mystery Box - Chira Opened Top

Julep Nail Polish in Chira, Full-Size! Estimated Value $14

Chira is the other new shade made for this box, and it is described as a dark teal shimmer. The shimmer is so fine that this almost has a liquid metal finish, and I find it to be a really neat shade. One thing I noticed as I applied this is that it shrunk a bit from the edges of my nails as it dried, so make sure to cap the tops of your nails when applying.

Here is one coat of Bradie over two coats of Chira.

The Verdict: Julep mystery boxes are always a great way to get products at a big discount, and this box was no exception. It was fun to get two exclusive nail polish shades, and I think that the box as a whole could be used for a dramatic New Year’s Eve makeup look. Julep promised a value of at least $100 in this box, and by my math, they met that with a total estimated value of $106.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, this box is now sold out.

Value Breakdown: This box cost $29.98 ($24.99 + $4.99 shipping), and I calculated a value of $106. That means you are paying approximately the following per item:

  • Eyeliner: $4.52
  • Eyeshadow: $6.79
  • Blush:$6.79
  • Passionate Pisces: $3.96
  • Bradie: $3.96
  • Chira: $3.96

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

I had got the mystery box with the add on makeup deal and I am super happy I made this purchase. The eyeshadow is phenomenal. Nothing compared to any of my eyeshadows I have in my collection. With one swipe primer or not, it lasts all night. I had wore this for NYE and everyone had thought I had a Smokey eye. Just the gift alone was a fantastic steal and I will continue to purchase julep. Thanks for the review. 🙂

I’m super happy with my box! I used the skip the blush as lipstick and love the shade of purple it is on me. I usually love the mystery boxes, and this one is no exception, super glad I got it 🙂

The blush sticks make a great all in one for cheeks, eyes and lips and as a travel item. I usually find the shimmer liner to be better after I sharpen it. I usually dull the tip on paper and sharpen it.

The value is there, but when I think of “confetti” I don’t think of the dark, vampy colors they sent, but I suppose I could be misinterpreting confetti. I can see how they tried to make a collection for a dramatic NYE look, but why does it seem like the “NYE look” is always smokey eyes and dark red lip/nails? MORE SPARKLE! haha

I definitely think it’s better themeing compared to that Halloween “Night Fright” box with peach blush & teal eyeliner. 😂

Melissa

I thought the “confetti” was the Bradie nail polish.

Yea, I got that part of it…Just imagined more sparkly, brighter colors :O) Maybe it’s because I have a young daughter, I hear confetti, and I see birthday party, lots of color. But that’s just me
