Fruit For Thought “Blood Orange Kumquat” January 2019 Review

Fruit For Thought Autumn Spice January 2019 - Info Sheet Top

Here is the card that gives you some more information about the items included.

Fruit For Thought Autumn Spice January 2019 - Tarocco Blood Orange Shampoo Front

Tarocco Blood Orange Shampoo, 8.6 oz – Retail Value $18

I am pretty picky about the shampoos that I use, but I really loved the refreshing blood orange scent this had. I enjoy reaching for citrus scents in the morning when I am trying to start the day off right (or just fully wake up), and this would fit right in with my other citrus necessities.

Fruit For Thought Autumn Spice January 2019 - Kumquat Bath Bomb Top 1 Fruit For Thought Autumn Spice January 2019 - Kumquat Bath Bomb Top 2

GGCreations75 Kumquat Bath Bomb – Retail Value $3.50

This bath bomb has a bright citrus scent thanks to notes of kumquat, orange, and pineapple, and it is made with mango butter, cocoa butter, shea butter, and apricot oil to hydrate your skin. I don’t think you will find a more hydrating bath bomb than this one for the price, and I loved the scent.

Fruit For Thought Autumn Spice January 2019 - Kumquat Lime Cuticle Serum Top

Serum No 5 Kumquat Lime Cuticle Serum – Retail Value $6

This cuticle oil is made with jojoba oil, Vitamin E, avocado oil, sweet almond oil, and grapeseed oil. I abuse my cuticles and take nowhere near the care I should of them, so I am always happy to get more hydrating oils like this one in the hopes of one day applying it regularly. I enjoyed the zesty kumquat lime scent, too.

Fruit For Thought Autumn Spice January 2019 - Sweet Addict Blood Orange Caramel Sauce Top Fruit For Thought Autumn Spice January 2019 - Sweet Addict Blood Orange Caramel Sauce Open Top

Sweet Addict Blood Orange Caramel Sauce – Buy an 8 oz jar for $10

This stuff is dangerous- it is SO good. I could literally eat it with a spoon, and I think it would also be super delicious mixed with cream cheese as a fruit dip. I wasn't sure how the blood orange would pair with the sweet caramel, but it complemented rather than competed. The blood orange was like a savory back note to the caramel, and it was so tasty.

Fruit For Thought Autumn Spice January 2019 - Lord Of Meringues Citrus Top Fruit For Thought Autumn Spice January 2019 - Lord Of Meringues Citrus Open Top Fruit For Thought Autumn Spice January 2019 - Lord Of Meringues Citrus Closer View Top

Lord of Meringues Citrus Meringue Gift Box – Retail Value $9

There have been many tasty subscription box snacks of the years. Favorites of mine have included the Cinnamon Churro Smashmallows from the March 2017 Popsugar Must Have box and the Chuao Chocolate Bar from the February 2017 Popsugar Must Have box (for the record, Chuao remains my all-time favorite chocolate brand). But these delightful meringues may actually be my favorite subscription box treat of all time. The citrus flavors include blood orange, lemon, key lime, and grapefruit, and the citrus is light and perfectly pairs with the airy meringues. They melt on your tongue once you bite through the outer crust, and they really are just incredible. Lord of Meringues is actually just a city away from me since they are located in New Orleans, and I think I may need to take a road trip soon.

Fruit For Thought Autumn Spice January 2019 - Blood Orange Diet Coke Front

Blood Orange Diet Coke, 12 oz – Retail Value $0.99

I am not much of a coke fan, diet or otherwise (if I am indulging in a soda, it's usually a small-brand root beer or cream soda!), but I actually quite enjoyed this blood orange diet coke. It wasn't overly citrus, but it was rather like a squeeze of orange was added into some diet coke. I would drink this again!

The Verdict: I have never had a kumquat before, so I wasn’t sure what I was supposed to expect with this box. I am a happy camper that it was a zesty selection of citrus that included some incredible treats, and overall I thought the curation was great. Fruit For Thought is a fun way to see, smell, and taste different fruity themes, and I am excited to see what February has to offer.

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

Wow, I used to think this box was pretty cool but to be honest this month looks like a major rip off! Too bad!

For the cost of the box ($50), the RV should at least meet the cost, which it doesn’t. You don’t list a total RV for this box, and there isn’t a specific RV associated with the caramel, but I’m guessing the RV comes out to about 40 bucks total.

Feels like there should be at least one or two more items to round it out for the cost.

Good idea for boxes, but not enough stuff for the price of the sub, sadly.

The cost of the box is $44.99. The cost of shipping is $5 (which actually cost us $8 average to ship.) We don’t promise a specific value but generally it is around $45 – $50 which is the cost of the box. The value you get is the curation and presentation. Many of the items we include are handmade and if you ordered them individually you would pay much more for shipping. I understand many boxes focus on value but we focus more on the fact that you are getting things that are unusual and special and our customers love our boxes!

In my opinion the curation isn’t that interesting to use the citation as the value in such a costly box, But good luck.
