Cat Lady Box January 2019 Review

Cat Lady Box is always full of fun, cat-themed lifestyle items. Let’s see what was in store for January:

Cat Lady Box January 2019 - information cards Front TopCat Lady Box January 2019 - information cards Back Top

I love how the information cards have custom artwork every month. And the back has more information about the items in the box.

Cat Lady Box January 2019 - Ameowzing Shirt Top

Ameowzing Shirt – Listed Value $19.99

This month’s wearable item is a t-shirt and it is a very soft and comfortable t-shirt. It’s a little big on me because I am an XS in shirt size and Cat Lady Box’s smallest offering is S, but that usually works out for me pretty well (like here, where the loose fit makes it perfect for weekend errands or wearing around the house).

Cat Lady Box January 2019 - Meow Knit Cap Top

Meow Knit Cap – Listed Value $19.99

This is very thick and warm. It was a bit much for the day I took photos (see below) when it was in the 50s or 60s, but this will be good for those few days a year when it is super cold out. I will get a kick out of wearing a hat that says “meow” when I am walking an 85 pound Rottweiler.

Here I am in the shirt and hat.

Cat Lady Box January 2019 - Meow Metal Wall Art Top

Meow Metal Wall Art – Listed Value $17.99

I am going to go rooting around in the garage for some nails tonight and hang this on the wall of my downstairs yoga/exercise room, where the theme is really “anything goes”; there are some other Cat Lady Box items on the walls down there as well. It is not as heavy as I expected it to be (which is good for something that’s going on the wall, it means I don’t have to find a stud).

Cat Lady Box January 2019 - Eskimeow Catnip Toy Front

Eskimeow Catnip Toy – Listed Value $4.99

Here is the first of the two toys for the month. I think this is pretty cute. I would say it is an average size for a Cat Lady Box toy (the toys are never super small in this box). Several of my cats wanted to snuggle with this little guy.

Cat Lady Box January 2019 - Meow Catnip Kicker Top

Meow Catnip Kicker – Listed Value $5.99

Here is the second toy for the month. It kind of matches the wall art. This is a bit larger and it is really an Angus item (especially if you turn it into an interactive toy by dragging it around in front of him on the floor).

Kitty photos:

Angus liked the kicker toy a lot.

Cat Lady Box January 2019 - Madison Front

Madison was a little possessive of this toy.

Cat Lady Box January 2019 - Monkey 1 FrontCat Lady Box January 2019 - Monkey 2 Front

Monkey mostly wanted to rub his face on things.

Cat Lady Box January 2019 - Sneaky Front

Sneaky liked the tail on this toy.

Mr. Kitty is doing fine but he is taking a break from photos for awhile; he is a little crusty due to some eye issues and we are working on those with the veterinary ophthalmologist.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $68.95 for the January 2019 (Crazy) Cat Lady Box. That is a pretty good value for the box and, even if you think one or two values are inflated, I feel like you’re still getting your money’s worth. The shirt and hat are particularly useful for me (I can never have enough cat-themed shirts) but I thought everything was fun this month.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Officially your subscription would start with February’s box, but way back when I signed up, I was contacted to say there were a few of the current month’s box left over and asked if I’d like one of those. So it may be worth inquiring.

Value Breakdown: At a price of $39.99 for this box, you are paying approximately the following per item:

  • Shirt $11.59
  • Knitted cap $11.59
  • Wall art $10.43
  • Eskimeow toy $2.89
  • Kicker toy $3.47

The hat is nice and thick, and soft. Very timely arrival here.

I got a different toy, but the meow kick toy was the same.

I really like this box. This is my 2nd one.

Ragan, I just used two clear-head push pins to hang the meow sign on the wall. It’s right next to the sign that says “all my kids have paws”.

Agree – a solid box of fun and usable items that the whole family enjoys.

I completely understand about the price point verses to retail value of the box. The thing that keeps me coming back to this box (besides some of the super cute items) is the quality. I am constantly amazed at the quality of the items they send. The quality is also consistant. Get 3 boxes in a row? All 3 boxes will have the highest quality and last years and years.
I’ve not found another cat related box (geared towards me or my clowder) that can measure up to that quality. Anything from their boxes would make an amazing gift for a friend or kitty.

Thier customer service is awesome too. They are very easy to just subscribe or not to each month.

As always, thank you for sharing your wonderful clowder with us. They are too rotten and precious, lol.

I hope Mr. Kitty feels better soon. I miss his sweetness.

I wish they could get the price a tad lower so the value was closer to most others and I would be in! I think most boxes that you buy in the mid $20 have a value of around $80/$100 so paying in the $30s and getting something with a value in the $60s just doesn’t pan out for me.

Usually only beauty boxes (since beauty has a huge markup to begin with), or boxes like Popsugar that can get good co-branding deals going, will have the kind of price/value ratios you’re looking for. Food boxes are never that good, most dog and cat boxes are never that good, craft boxes are never that good, and boxes that work with small companies are never going to reach that level.
