Bomibag December 2018 Review

It’s Skin Avocado High Nutrition Sheet Mask – Retail Value $1.99
We received two sheet masks this month and they are both from the same product line. I actually like receiving multiple items from the same product line because sometimes, just because one doesn’t work for you, another one might. (In this case, I liked both.) Anyway, this didn’t have too much serum and what was there absorbed into the skin pretty quickly after I used it, so I could still put makeup on afterward. This does have some silicones but the main active ingredient is avocado oil, which has some antioxidants and vitamins as well as being moisturizing. This was a great one for winter.
It’s Skin Tea Tree Balance Mask Sheet – Retail Value $1.99
This does not smell strongly of tea tree oil, which is nice if you happen to be a person who doesn’t care for that scent (I could take it or leave it). This is especially good for acne-prone skin. There are also antioxidants from various plant extracts (several citrus species as well as tea leaf extract). Performance of this one was pretty similar to the avocado one, except the serum was maybe slightly less creamy (but it’s really more of a toss-up).
Benton Tea Tree Cleansing Water (30 mL) – Estimated Value $2.55 (buy 200 mL for $17)
This is described as a replacement for both makeup removal and the first cleanse of a double cleanse, although I used it the way I tend to use cleansing waters all the time, which is after I’ve done both steps of the double cleanse if there is still something left, like mascara under my eyes or a bit of stubborn foundation. It worked well then. This has tea tree oil which can help fight breakouts, but I don’t really have any breakouts right now (one of the perks of being over 40 I guess) so I can’t speak to that aspect of the product.
Fixence Keep Cool and Soothe Mist – Retail Value $10
This has two layers, one which is water-based and one which has a bit of essential oil for soothing. (It also has allantoin, which can soothe the skin.) I just can’t get on board with the “spraying liquid in your face” trend. I don’t need to moisturize in the middle of the day! My skin is not dry, even in winter. I tend to use these products as toners when I receive them in subscription boxes and this seemed all right for that (I applied from on a cotton pad as I don’t want to spray anything in my face).
Tosowoong Blackhead and Sebum Out Nose Patch (8 count) – Retail Value $7.90 (found here for $3.16)
These have charcoal powder, volcanic ash, and clay and are supposed to help clear out the pores. I actually find that these ingredients in skincare products are useful for that purpose, but I don’t have a blackhead problem at this time (my skin really has been getting less moody as I age) so if I used one of these right now, I wouldn’t be able to tell you anything about it. I will hold on to these because my skin is moodier in summer and I’ll likely have a use for them at that point.
Verdict: I calculated a total value of $24.43 for Bomibag. That is a few dollars over the month-to-month cost of the subscription. Please keep in mind, too, that K-Beauty prices are all over the place and may not reflect shipping charges, minimum orders, etc. The cleansing water was a good find and I enjoyed the masks and I think the mist will work as a wintertime toner, so this was a pretty good month for me, even though I won’t use the mist as intended.
