Bombay & Cedar "Healing" Box Review December 2018
The box comes with a booklet of information that lists out the products and highlights some of the brands.
Ginger Essential Oil, 10 ml - Listed Value $16.00
Lemon Essential Oil, 10 ml - Listed Value $14.00
I always look forward to the oils in this sub. This month we received lemon and ginger. The lemon smells just as expected, tart, sharp, and in your face citrus! I love blending lemon with lavender in my diffuser. The ginger I liked much less, but I generally avoid ginger. It is a really potent and odd smell to me, but if you like ginger you will find this super energizing! The oils from this box are always very potent and great quality.
Zamn Good Zesty Lemon Protein Bar, 1.76 oz - Buy a 12 pack for $31.81
This dairy-free and veggie based protein bar delivers a whopping 12g of vegan protein. I loved the lemon flavor of this bar, but the texture wasn't my favorite. It was a little grainy, but I find that can be really common in protein bars. Maybe a glass of almond milk would have helped?
Deluxe Travel Size Mineral Face Peel by O.R.G. - Retail Value $5.00
This is a product that falls under that "Gross! Eww! Awesome!" category in my mind. After washing my face I spritzed the peel over my face then proceeded to rub it in. Quickly little balls of product, dirt, and dead skin cells appeared all over my face. It was disturbing and totally fun, kind of like when you peel off a nose pore strip. This formula is really great at removing leftover impurities micro-exfoliation. I did not notice any extra dryness or redness after using, so it is a win for me! As with any acid based treatment, be sure to use sunscreen after!
Crystal Peace Candle by J'Aime - Listed Value $22.00
I am a little obsessed with this lovely candle. It has a scattering of different stones across its surface, all types associated with peace, love, and wellbeing. It was specially designed for Bombay & Cedar and is a soy wax candle, meaning it has a long, clean burn. The scent is very light, floral, and a little musky.
Human + Kind Apple and Herb Sensitive Conditioner, 200 ml
Thought I found many items by this brand, I was unable to locate this conditioner for sale anywhere. The scent is of apples and herbs such as rosemary and mint. It is a very gentle and light conditioner that would be great for someone with more sensitive scalp skin. I have very thick and dry hair, so I personally need more moisture than this conditioner provides, but my husband liked the formula as well as the scent.
Party Origami: Paper and Instructions for 14 Party Decorations - Retail Value $12.95 (found here for $11.07)
I am personally really terrible at origami, but I enjoy attempting to create the beautiful folded works of art. At the very least, even if I fail terribly, I love the bright and colorful patterned papers. This set comes with instructions for 14 different projects to make party decorations. The paper itself is double sided and really lovely. Worth noting is that the pages are not squared, meaning this is an extra step that needs to be taken before you begin your projects.
Clayer Active Muscle and Joint Pain Relief - Retail Value $15.99
This product is really interesting. I have never seen a clay-based paste for pain relief. You apply it to your back, shoulders, or wherever you have pain, and let this French clay paste dry (about 10-15 minutes), then wash it off. I do not currently have any aches or pains (#blessed) but I plan on passing this long to a friend who has chronic shoulder pain. I hope it can give her some relief! I feel that this might be a natural, but rather messy solution.
Bling Sting First Aid Clutch - Retail Value $22.00
I didn't realize being prepared could be so glamorous. This rose gold clutch is filled with first aid products that anyone would find valuable in a pinch:
- 6 Antiseptic Cleansing Wipes
- 6 Sting Relief Pads
- 6 Alcohol Pads
- 10 Safety Pins
- 18 Cotton Swabs
- 10 Fabric Bandages
- 5 Knuckle Bandages
- 5 Finger Bandages
- 2 Butterfly Bandages
- 5 Gauze Pads
- 1 Gauze Tape
- 1 Super-Cute Travel Case
It is the perfect size for your car, locker, or purse.
Bonus: Human + Kind Deep Cleansing Cloths - Retail Value $9.69
This pair of cleansing cloths reminds me very much of my beloved Makeup Eraser, though the fibers are shorter. They still do a great job of removing dirt and makeup! They are also machine washable.
Verdict: Bombay & Cedar is a subscription I always look forward to because the unboxing always feels like a complete experience and all of the items work together towards the month's theme. There were some real winners this month for me, mainly the candle, the face peel, and the first aid clutch. The ginger essential oil will be finding a new home, and I was less enthused with the protein bar, but the other items more than make up for the two misses this month. I am estimating the total value of this box to be at least $120, though the conditioner does not factor into that guesstimate since I could not find its retail value. That is still a great value for a $$49.95 box.
