Yogi Surprise Jewelry  December 2018 Review

This month’s theme is "Peace, Love, and Chocolate", which something I can support any time of the year.

Yogi Surprise Jewelry December 2018 - Om Diffuser Mala Necklace Top

Om Diffuser Mala Necklace

A mala is a strand of 108 beads plus a “guru” bead designed to help you with meditation or prayer. From my research, in Hinduism the number 1 stands for God, the universe, or your highest truth (whatever you believe!), the number 0 stands for emptiness and humility in the spiritual practice, and the number 8 stands for infinity and timelessness, which is why the malas are strung with 108 beads.

This Mala is made with red howlite and pink onyx. Red howlite is said to have calming energy, and pink onyx is supposed to be comforting. If you don’t believe in the healing energy of stones, at least you can appreciate the gorgeous colors. This is also the first mala I have received that closed with a lobster clasp, though it is still long enough for me to toss it over my head.

What I really like about this Mala is that it has a black lava bead encased in a locket-type charm. You can add your favorite essential oil and have the benefits of aromatherapy!

Here it is on. Mala’s are pretty long, so it was difficult to take a photo that showed the tassel. I really like the suggestion by Yoga Sarabeth to only wear your mala on the days you meditated with it as a reminder of your mantra and your intentions for the day.

Om Bracelet

This bracelet is simple and beautiful. It features a hammered gold bar with a tiny red gemstone on a gold chain, and I love how it provides a touch of sparkle without being too over the top. This would also look great layered!

Dark Hot Chocolate by Elements Truffle, 4 oz – Retail Value $12

I am not much of a hot chocolate drinker but this time of year I always find myself craving a nice warm cup. This is completely plant-based and to make you only need to add ¼ of a cup of hot water so this is definitely a small cup of decadence. The turmeric wasn’t too pronounced but I definitely prefer a bit of sugar to sweeten up this cup.

The Verdict: I look forward to my Yogi Jewelry Surprise box every month, and this month I loved the styles of the jewelry sent. Yogi Surprise listed the total value of the box as $140. I am not a beading expert, so I cannot attest to the quality, authenticity, or value of the beads included. What I can say is that the pieces felt like they were of good quality (the Mala especially had a solid weight to it), and for the $24.95 I am extremely happy with what I received – especially considering all jewelry is handcrafted with fair trade materials.

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

I’m probably not going to sign up again because I have like 15 malas already, thanks to a past subscription, but it would be really easy to make that bracelet myself (I even bought these little metal stamps that make divots so you can glue Swarovski flatback stones just like that one onto a piece of metal, and I have a lot of texturing hammers and sheet metal). Anyway, then it would fit too. The Yogi Surprise bracelets were always way too big for me (even when they were adjustable).

Actually now I am coming up with a lot of ideas after seeing that bracelet. Thanks for the review.

This continues to be my favorite sub. I really look forward to it each month. The only thing I wish for is maybe a mala every 3 months, instead of monthly. I’d love to see an ALL bracelet month or for them to do more variety like the 7 chakra points necklace or the tree of life necklace that we got in boxes months back. Everything is super high quality and their customer service is fabulous.
