My first impression of my first Storybook Cosmetics Book Club was how adorable this faux book is! I love the concept of stacking these pallets on my window sill in my bathroom, making it look like a mini-library.

Little Women Storybook – Estimated Value $27.75 (3 Eyeshadows at $4.58 each based on a similar item here and 1 liquid lipstick at $14.00 based on a similar item here)

First, the packaging is unbelievable. It could not be cuter! I think that it’s great that the volume number is listed on the spine of the “book” truly giving this subscription the feeling of a collection. I love that the names of the shadows are the names of the "Little Women" – Meg, Beth, and Amy. The formula on the eyeshadow is very nice. It's buildable, easily blends and has a silky-smooth finish. Meg is light green, Beth an olive, and Amy a deep reddish pink. To be honest, these are not my go-to shadow shades – but I could put together a decent look due to my hazel eyes. I think that the Beth shadow specifically complements my complexion nicely, and I would probably be more included to use a light coat of the Amy as a blush.

The inside of the book “cover” features a really nice sized mirror and a quote from the author.

The liquid lippie is included in the “Jo” shade, which is a deep dusty rose (and a shade that I'm very comfortable wearing, as it's close to my everyday shade). I really like the coverage, color, and staying power. Once it dried it stayed put well and I found it to be pretty long lasting. It didn’t dry out my lips, and I love that is it a vegan product.

And here are the makeup swatched. From top to bottom: Meg, Beth, Amy, and Jo. The swatches are 3-4 swipes of my finger across the shadow and then my wrist, so you could easily do a much subtler look on your actual face.

Verdict: I can't wait to build my collection of these adorable little books and I look forward to seeing the colors that next month brings. I like the formula and pigmentation of the shadow and the staying power of the liquid lippie. While I probably won't often wear the Meg color, the rest are usable in my makeup routine – especially the lip product. I think that given this is the November box, the included colors are appropriate for this time of year and maybe even a holiday look. In the US this box costs $28.99 ($24.99 + $4.00 shipping), which is a fair value given that the value I calculated is about $27.75 without shipping. Plus, this is an exclusive collection that can't be purchased directly from the site.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, this box renews on the first of every month, so if you sign up today your first box will be December.

I do not recommend getting this subscription. I tried to sign up for the palette/brush combo subscription they had on May 11, 2020 and cancelled the order the same day. Heard nothing from them for over a month, so I sent an email asking if they were going to refund the money (38.99) or if they were going to ship out the product. It took their ‘Manager of Customer Relations’ almost a full month to reply with what has to be the most dismissive and patronizing response I’ve ever gotten from a customer service rep.

‘It’s because you did not request a refund when you cancelled it. You have to send an email for that to happen. Since you have now emailed and requested the refund, I will go ahead and process that.’

I literally cancelled the order within 24 hours of placing it, and nowhere on their site does it say you have to email in after cancelling your order to receive a refund. Completely appalling customer service considering it had been almost 2 full months – May 11 to July 9 – since I cancelled the order.

I just saw that this is starting again. Have you heard this? I want it to be true. A book nerd needs make up too

I signed up as soon as I saw this advertised. When they didn’t send any updates or respond to my emails about when it was going to ship after being four months late, I requested to cancel and get a refund. They told me it was cancelled but I never got the refund and then they shipped it anyway. All of this had to be done by email. I contacted them again and asked that this be cancelled so I guess we will see if they charge me again or not. The palette is very cute and I have it up for swap if anyone is interested.

So, do you not get an actual book to go with the makeup? You’re paying that much, plus shipping!, and you only get three eyeshadows, a lip sticks and a bookmark? Yikes!

One of their 12-pan palettes is typically about $55 and the lipstick is $14, so 25 for three plus a liquid lipstick is not a bad deal. The value of the items is $27.75, and you would pay tax and/or shipping.

I really want this, and it looks like Little Women might still be available on their site. That’s good news for me, so I won’t have to miss any, but…what is their consistency going to be like in releasing new boxes and charging for them? It seems like they need to decide what they want to do and work on execution. I’m going to chance it this week and see how it goes. From the comments above, it sounds like it wasn’t hard to cancel. No billing issues other than the inconsistency?

I swatched the Mean Girls palette in Ulta and it was beautiful!

They charged again on February 1 and now have no idea when they will ship. The have no packaging or eyeshadows ready as of May.

Heads up…I just tried pausing my subscription tonight and it said “old renewal date: June 1st 2018 and new renewal date: January 1st 2018”. So given the issues with the LONG delay (without any communication from them) of the initial shipment and now the incorrect messed up renewal dates, I just flat out canceled my subscription. I love the idea of the book palette and the actual makeup, but I’m not afraid to risk dealing with messed up billing.

This “club” is a complete scam. I signed up, was charged, received nothing. I emailed with no reply so I canceled. I have now sent a second email, if no reply will be submitting fraud to Visa. I will also smear all their social media.

This isn’t for me but me, but boy is this cute and clever! If I had a teenage daughter who was into make up, I would definitely get this for her.

We finally got these!! I signed up in May. The sub was supposed to start in August or September( can’t remember which), but kept getting pushed back. The only complaint I have is that the company did a lousy job of keeping us informed. No one knew what was going on and alot of people canceled. Anyway, I’m glad I waited, it’s adorable!

I’ve followed them on instagram for a long time, but never purchased anything because I never know when things will be for sale or sent out. I think they did everything by pre-order. The palettes and brush sets are really pretty and very clever though.

I requested a refund after they kept pushing back the shipping dates from August 😐. 4 months late is better than nothing for some, but it was unacceptable to me. Glad I requested my refund, I wouldn’t use any of this.

This is too cute and too tempting.

I’m not much for eyeshadow, but I’m impressed by how they pulled it off! It looks like they blended two seemingly unrelated things together beautifully.

This wouldn’t be a practical sub for me, but holy cow! This a really adorable concept for literary minded gals who like palettes. Very clever.

I’d suggest you talk about the issues with this sub. I signed up for May, was told this would ship in August…then September….then October…I finally just requested my money back.

These people have quite a few sub boxes and pre ordered items with issues. Please, people, do your research before subbing.

One of the sister’s is also responsible for Fandom of the Month. Though that sub has kind of disappeared and been unreliable for the last several months, so that worries me.

I like the concept of this and the execution is lovely – but I wonder if I would need something like this every month.
