Pearlesque Box December 2018 Review

This month's featured brand is Flower Mill, hailing from Southern California.

Each of our products is made in small batches from the highest quality ingredients found in nature. Inspired by the healing a rejuvinating power of flowers and other active botanicals.

The opposite side of the info card details the included items, how to use them, their price, and a #pearltip.

Flower Mill Balm Shell Cleanser, 2 oz. - Retail Value $42.00

This is something a little unique for me- a solid makeup remover/cleanser that is to be added to a dry face to start. I get a little hesitant with cleansers that aren't the usual foam or liquid, but I kept an open mind when diving into this one. I haven't been wearing makeup lately so I'm not able to attest to it's melting qualities in that arena, but it was kind of nice to take a scoop of this solid nice smelling balm and slowly warm it between my fingers before massaging it into my dry face. It almost felt like I was applying a moisturizing cream as it melted and I almost didn't even feel the need to remove it, but I proceeded to take a damp warm cloth (which I received from Pearlesque Box in September) to gently wipe the excess away. This obviously would make much more sense with makeup, so I'll be eager to try this next time instead of a pre-moistened cleansing cloth. The results afterward are really nice and it does the opposite of drying out my skin- it made it feel soft and hydrated! Probably due to the coconut oil mango butter and shea butter it's made with, among lovely scents.

Flower Mill Vitamin C Facial Serum, 1 oz. - Retail Value $75.00

Oh my goodness, this smells like heaven! I cannot get enough of this scent. At first sniff, I thought it was lemongrass, but it's instead a plethora of their ingredients that smell so divine. A simple blend of coconut oil, hazelnut oil, and a custom essential oil blend (including grapefruit, lemon peel oil, lavender, tangerine, rosehip, watermelon seed, neroli, geranium, bergamot, cypress, lime, rosemary) makes up this ultra-lightweight facial serum. They say the serum is "curated to restore skin’s balance, texture, and natural radiance. Helps to reduce dark spots and fine lines, revealing smoother, glowing skin." but I'm going to sign up simply for the ritual of slathering this wonderful scent onto my face in the evening and morning. It soaks into my skin rather easily and doesn't make it oily at all. Using this right after the Balm Shell Cleanser has been a great routine thus far for keeping my skins healthy glow.

Flower Mill Petal Mask, 1 oz. - Retail Value $25.00

I'm teetering on the edge of having too many powder masks, but I refuse to say that that's a thing that can happen. I love them so! This beautiful pink petal mask is made with crushed flowers like rose petals, hibiscus flowers, jasmine buds, calendula petals, lavender flowers, nettle leaf, and chamomile flower, along with rose kaolin clay. It's truly amazing how simple these products are but yet how effective they are! I think it really showcases how awesome and easy clean skincare can be! The great thing that I've learned from trying masks like this is that you can add some of your own ingredients like honey, rosewater, or essential oils (or even the vitamin C serum as suggested by Pearlesque Box). Once you've made a nice paste with your choice of liquid, just slather it on your face and let it dry. Once you remove, you can feel that petal power letting your skin radiate beauty! This one feels so pure and luxurious!

Verdict: Pearlesque Box this month brought me three new products from a natural brand I never would have found otherwise. The total retail for these products is a whopping $142.00 which is a fantastic value for the $39.95 cost. I'm already obsessed with the facial serum and I know I'll be getting a lot of use of the balm while traveling as well. The mask will be left as a special treat for relaxing at home.

Pearlesque beauty box is my absolute favorite subscription box, out of the 20+ subs I get a month. Can’t say enough great things about this subscription and the woman who owns it.

I have LOVED every Pearlesque box and item I’ve received this year, which is all 12 months of them.

It’s my favorite skin care subscription box ever!!

I wish they’d branch out a bit into body skin care, but the curation is really superb and the CS is always top notch as well. 🙂

I did not open the serum yet because I am actually thinking of gifting it. I have only tried the cleanser and the mask… so no help on that one. You have me curious now.. this mask though…. it’s not the Bean but is my dream for a clay mask….

You can actually see how much serum is in the bottle if you hold it up to a light… or did it come in a box? I just got my box two days ago, and I already can’t remember. haha! But it’s cool. I hope your giftee likes the serum!

Sorry

Cute products, but sometimes a problem with sub boxes is that sometimes the items are laughably overpriced. Yes, these prices are “in line” with some other all-natural products – from brands that use ORGANIC and harder to find ingredients. You can find products on par with these on Etsy, maybe even your local farmer’s market, for a fraction of the price. That being said, what you’re paying for the box here is actually fair, just not an OMGgooddeal from a reputable brand

I disagree with that! I paid $44 for my first Box and the items retailed for like $140 on the Company’s Website. I received great quality products!

The argument that the prices are over-inflated doesn’t hold up when a person can go to the brand’s own website and SEE the retail price charged for that product.

Pearlesque doesn’t make up pricing. They definitely get very great wholesale pricing and pass the lower prices on to their subscribers.
It all depends on whether or not a person wants great quality skin care, usually in small batch production, or a huge name brand from Sephora or the like.

Famous doesn’t mean better at all. Good marketing makes brands famous most of the time.

Exactly.

This box is a win for me. I haven tried the serum yet because didn’t want to open but they mask is what I dreamed it would be!!! I am astounded how much I am loving this sub. And the cleanser is very effective and I am already used to and it took third in my collection after second use. Thank you for review.

Hi Tanya, did your serum appear to be a tad low in the bottle, like a bit was missing? Nothing leaked in my box, but the top of the serum was a little lower/below where the bottle’s shape starts to become vertical making it appear like some is missing. 🙁 I’ll just let it go even if you say yours was filled like normal (I couldn’t tell from Marne’s pics how her’s was filled), but for some reason my curiosity is getting the better of me on this one, and I just gotta know! haha
(I’m glad you’re liking the box so much too! 🙂 )

Hi Luna,
It looks to me that in Marne’s pictures it is that blackish line, so, right beneath/at the “neck” of the bottle. I have used a tiny bit of mine, but that’s about where mine is too.
If it didn’t leak… my guess might be that the amount poured into each bottle isn’t exact..?
