My Fashion Crate December 2018 Review

How cute! They dressed their label up for the holidays!

They always include an insert with descriptions of the items and their value. The front side lists everything you will receive in the Essentials box while the back also shows what you get in the Premium box and they include pictures which I always appreciate. This month we had a lot of fun graphics for the holidays that I enjoyed!

Holiday Bow Blouse by The Clothing Company, Size L - Listed Value $38

I wasn't sure how I would feel about this top until I put it on, but I thought it was fun and cute! Not necessarily ideal for the cold winter, but I think maybe paired with the right cardigan or jacket, it could still work for now. This shirt was super soft and silky, and slightly sheer, but not see-through with this rich, cream color. My only gripe with this is the same as usual, it's just a little tight across my bust which made the shirt ride up a bit. It feels like a nice quality top though and I thought it was fairly flattering.

Here is a closeup; I love those pearl buttons on the front and how nicely pleated the ruffles are.

Holiday Olive Leggings by Fabric & Fabric, One Size - Listed Value $15

What better item for the holidays than this nice pair of green leggings? I don't think you can ever have too many leggings, and these are nice and soft with a warm fleece lining. They are one size, but they had a lot of stretch to them and were comfortable to wear (pictured further in the review). I think this was a fun color and although they are olive, I felt that the green was a little bit richer than olive and closer to a forest green, which I actually preferred!

Rose Gold Crimson Chain Choker by Jules Smith - Retail Value $45

How pretty is this rose gold? I love that it has these tiny crystal details that add some sparkle to the design. This necklace is plated in 14k rose gold and is a dainty piece that will be fun to wear for the holidays. It's 13", but also comes with a 3" extender which I appreciated since I was able to adjust it for my own comfort.

I don't usually wear chokers, so I have this on the loosest setting here and I thought it was the perfect length for layering with some longer pieces. I love the simple chain on the bottom with the light-catching crystals sitting just above to add some more detail.

Crystal Clear Mini Sheet Masks by MaskerAide - Retail Value $5.26 (7.00 CAD)

These mini masks are super unique to me and cute with their gemstone designs. They are cruelty-free and free of parabens and artificial pigments, plus they have a light lavender scent. While I love the idea of a mini mask to spot treat and brighten dark spots, I think these would be much better packaged individually! It was quite the mess to take the entire sheet out and then have to peel each mini mask up. Plus, since you are just spot treating, it would be nice to save some for another treatment at a later date!

Here is one of the masks in hand to show you how tiny they are. Despite the mess, these were still fun to check out!

Cute "Hope" Pouch by Riah Fashion - Retail Value $25

I was definitely surprised to see the retail value of this little bag at $25, that seemed very high to me for such a small and basic pouch. The dimensions are 5 inches x 7.2 inches and it is a great size for on the go, especially with that little handle loop on the end. I have already used this bag out and it was perfect for stashing some money, my phone and even a snack, and a toy for the baby! The top feels like a stiffer canvas material with a soft faux cork bottom and the inside has some sort of coating on it that makes it feel a bit waxy as though it would wipe clean. I love the size and the message of hope on the front, but I do feel that the price is a bit inflated.

The following items are only in the Premium Box:

Sweet Light Blue Top by Cozy Casual, Size L - Listed Value $50 (Not sure why it's called light blue top? Maybe a typo?)

I'm not sure why it's called light blue top? Maybe a typo? I have not yet jumped on the cold shoulder bandwagon, but I think this sweater is the way to do it! This sweater is so soft and has just enough stretch to it that it's comfortable and I think the cutouts at the shoulders give what could be a very basic sweater a bit of an edge that dress it up a little. I tried it on first with the leggings that I received, but I think I like it better styled with jeans. It was a bit thin and lightweight, but somehow it still felt warm, I think due to the tightness of the knit which wasn't as sheer as I was expecting from the model photo.

You can almost see how soft it is in these photos with just a little bit of shine to it. I love the way the stripes are in different directions and widths making it more interesting!

Winter Knit Beret - Listed Value $30

How fun is this pom -pom knit beret? I love this color, too! The shape needs a little work since it came with a cardboard insert that created a few creases, but once that fades, this will make a nice winter hat for when I want to get a little fancy! It's warm and seems well made, and it's always nice to have an extra hat for the winter! This was a great way to add some cozy comfort to our box while keeping it fashionable.

Verdict: This was another great package from My Fashion Crate! While there may have been a bit of inflation in some of the items, this still averages out to only $7.84 per item if you consider that we received seven items and the cost of the box is $54.90. That seems really reasonable considering there were two tops and a pair of leggings this month! I really enjoyed all of the items, especially the cute and useful accessories.

The total for the Premium box comes to $208.26 this month, which is a great value for a $54.90 ($49.95 + $4.95 shipping) box. As for the Essentials box, the value is $128.26 which is still awesome for a $39.95 ($35 + $4.95 shipping) box. When comparing the two subscriptions, for $14.95 extra for the Premium box we received cold-shoulder sweater and the winter knit beret valued at $80.

Mask Maven comes in a similar package.

Speaking of masks, the one time I got one that was a bunch of mini masks, I just plastered all of them on my face at the same time.
