Lillypost is a monthly children’s book subscription! They offer three subscription options: The Picture Book Box, which includes 3 books for ages 4-7, The Board Book Box, which includes 3 books for ages 0-3, and the Mixed Book Box, which includes 1 board book and 2 picture books for all ages. From Lillypost:

For every box that is purchased, Lillypost will be donating one book to a child in need through various literacy-based charities.

This review is of the Mixed Book box for $19.99 a month. This option includes both board books and picture books for families with children in both age ranges.

You can choose to have your books wrapped each month for an extra $5.00 per shipment. The paper is always nice, thick quality, and often features their signature Lillypost fox. I think this makes receiving our books just a bit more special each month.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review purposes. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Lillypost November 2018 Review

Lillypost included this little note that introduces their coloring contest for the month. Kids can draw directly on the box and incorporate Finnley the Fox into the monthly theme, then share it on social media for a chance to win a prize. This month’s theme is the Things That Go, and I love that they include some fun facts too!

This card encourages your littles to enter the coloring contest, even if you've won before!

Hello World! Birds by Jill McDonald - Retail Value $7.99 (found here for $7.83)

This board book is great! Each page features a different bird, has a sentence about the bird and also includes a little side note about each bird for further learning. For example, this page has a little starred sentence at the bottom right that says "A baby duck is called a duckling." My kids absolutely loved reading this and learning about the various birds which included flamingoes, ostriches, owls, and even pigeons! Very cute and educational!

Bedtime for Yeti by Vin Vogel - Retail Value $16.99 (Found here for $13.24)

This Yeti is adorable and has a favorite toy that he plays with all day and snuggles with all night until one evening his friend gets lost. Yeti searches everywhere and is so sad that he has to sleep alone, and is even a little bit scared without him. He thinks about where his stuffed friend could be and imagines that he is in danger and this gives him the push he needs to be really brave and rescue him! It's a cute, imaginative story with a fun character and since my kids love to sleep with lots of their "friends" in their beds, they could relate!

Bunny's Book Club by Annie Silvestro - Retail Value $17.99 (Found here for $12.59)

This sweet story is about a bunny who loves to listen to story time at the library, but now that summer is over, story time has moved inside the building and he can no longer hear the stories. He is so sad and all he can think of are all of the wonderful books that he wishes he could read. Soon he finds a way to sneak into the library and borrows as many books as he can carry each night. When his friends find out, they join in his nightly adventures at the library until one evening, they all get caught. Fortunately, the librarian is kind and lets them all borrow books and everyone curls up together at Bunny's house to read at what becomes his own little book club.

This book is so cute and features such beautiful illustrations! I really loved this little detail at the beginning with the library card and all of the animal's names.

Verdict: This was such a great selection of Lillypost books. We really enjoyed reading each of these stories together and I love that each one was at a different reading level and they were different lengths. This mixed book option is perfect for a family with three kids like ours! I really think the board book about birds was the favorite this month though. My kids just love learning about animals and all those extra little facts throughout were such fun for them! We've already read it several times and I think my 2-year-old just about has it memorized! The cost of the box was $24.90 ($19.95 + $4.95 shipping), and the total retail value of the books came to $42.97, which is great for such a quality variety of books!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!
