Laurel & Reed December 2018 Review

The box always opens to a handwritten welcome note from Natalie but also included a little bonus gift of an herbal smudge stick and matches. So pretty!

The front of the info card features a lovely print on one side, and the items clearly listed out with retail prices and short descriptions on the other.

OSEA Malibu Atmosphere Protection Cream, 2 oz. - Retail Value $48.00

This month's box kicks off with a product I know and already love. I got one long ago when I first started to review skincare! It's definitely a gateway product for me. This moisturizer uses organic algae, shea butter, and avocado oil to protect your skin against the elements. I adore the smell which is sort of earthy in a nice way with lavender and geranium. This formula is really lightweight and I use it after a serum but it doesn't have an SPF in it, so you'll need to put sunscreen on afterward or use it at night.

PLANT Apothecary Wake Up Bar Soap - Retail Value $12.00

I've received PLANT items in the past but in the form of a liquid body wash and that I really like called Calm Down. This is the opposite and is in bar soap form. It uses organic rosemary and lemongrass (my fave) essential oils to help jump-start your day and invigorate you in your morning shower. The scent is much stronger dry than when you are lathering up with water, but I have to say that this left my skin feeling MUCH more hydrated and moisturized than other bar soaps. I ran out of body wash a while ago and have been stealing my roommates, so maybe I'll just make the switch to solid soap for now!

BKIND Konjac Green Clay Facial Sponge - Retail Value $9.95

Yessss, I am so all about Konjac sponges! They come dry and seem waaaay too rough to use on your face until you get them soaked in warm water. Once they've been fully hydrated, just use your usual fash wash and they are gentle and soft and provide just enough exfoliation to scrub away dead skin that is harshing my glow. I've used these in grey and pink before but this is my first green clay one! Yay! It's also shaped like a teardrop instead of circular which may serve me well when scrubbing in the crannies of my nose. BKIND also happens to have gorgeous packaging and I've come across some of their other products so it's nice to see them here. The best part is that because this is 100% organic plant matter, it's fully biodegradable once you're done with it.

Ursa Major Bright & Easy 3-Minute Flash Mask, 1.7 oz. - Retail Value $44.00

The fourth and final product is from yet another brand I salivate over. I just ran out of my travel size of Ursa Major's Fantastic Face Wash and am in desperate need of more. This product is new to me but I got really excited as the promise of a 3-minute mask. One of my joys in life is face masks of all kinds but sometimes it's late and I just want to go to bed without having something on my face for 15-20 minutes. A recent evening I was feeling particularly lazy but knew that I had so many products to test out this month. Enter- this mask. I remembered it being quick so I jumped to it and started slathering a quarter-sized dollop of this gelatinous mask onto my dry face. After smoothing a thin layer onto my skin, I simply laid in bed for 3 minutes while the flash enzyme did its thing. After the 3 minutes were up, I dabbed at it and it felt a little like when a peel mask isn't dry enough yet to peel. I splashed my face with warm water and proceeded to rinse it off completely. My skin felt really hydrated and healthy before even adding my bedtime skin routine on top so I'd consider this a success, especially in such a short amount of time. I don't think it smells as nice as their face wash, but it will certainly do.

Verdict: Laurel & Reed included four luxury products this month from brands I already know and love- most being new products to me though. It's great to be able to discover new items from lines I already trust and I thought all four are a wonderful addition to my beauty collection. I was especially excited for the Ursa Major Mask and green clay Konjac sponge from BKIND!

Amy

Great review. I haven’t used bar soap for a long time. I think I would like this one.
