Laserbrain Patch December 2018 - Card List

Laserbrain Patch December 2018 - Card Close Up

The information card contains a further look into the theme of the month, the listed value of each item, and the Instagram accounts of the featured artists. The theme this month is Home Alone.

Laserbrain Patch December 2018 - Card Coloring Page

Coloring Page

On the back of the information card, there’s always a coloring page! This month’s drawing is designed by @teawulfe, and I like the red-green gradient going on in these outlines. You know what I always say - it just ain’t the holidays without candy cane-striped crowbars.

Marv Pin with Chain - Listed Value $16

I can’t express to you, dear readers, how I actually cackled out loud when I opened this pin! It is just so completely hilarious. Designed by @teawulfe, we have poor Marv’s cranky face right after he’s had a reckoning with Kevin’s iron. The attention to detail in this is so awesome, from the completely accurate iron’s design to the shriek of agony frozen on an extremely good likeness.

Laserbrain Patch December 2018 - Patch Wide

Laserbrain Patch December 2018 - Patch Close

Kevin Iron-On Patch - Listed Value $9

The card inside listed this as a Home Alone/Stranger Things mashup, and I have kind of see it, with both the lettering and the presence of the holiday lights. Also designed by @teawulfe, I think the colors in this are absolutely fantastic. The lights are super-vibrant, they almost have a pop-art quality to them, and the hair and skin tone is realistic but also a little heightened - like a perfect caricature.

Laserbrain Patch December 2018 - Ornament Front

Laserbrain Patch December 2018 - Ornament Back

Laserbrain Patch December 2018 - Ornament Tree

Ornament - Listed Value $5

The last item in this box is a very seasonally-appropriate one - an ornament! The image is of Kevin’s classic aftershave scream, fancied up with both some fun fair isle houses and “Merry Christmas, Ya Filthy Animal.” The finish on this is nice, and I like that it isn’t shiny - it doesn’t reflect oddly in the lights of my tree!

Verdict: I wasn’t sure what to expect from a Home Alone themed box, but Laserbrain Patch Co. really shone with creativity and did an awesome job of expressing their love for a holiday classic! I cannot tell you how charmed I was by this pin; It was such an amazingly original idea that I would’ve never predicted. I loved the patch, and the ornament is proudly on our tree. I have really come to look forward to this subscription each month. I think the featured artists are so talented and so well-versed in different areas of fandom and pop culture.

The total listed value is $30 this month for the box; about double the $16.00 subscription price ($12.50 a month plus $3.50 shipping)!

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, but order now to receive January. (The theme is UFO’s!) Here’s what they say on the site:
