GlossyBox December 2018 Review

Wanna see what's inside? Let's go!

Becca Liquid Crystal Lip Topper Glow Gloss in Citrine x Apricot - Estimated Value $22.00 (found here for $11.00)

(All subscribers get this item.)

I couldn't find this pale peachy shade on Becca's site so it's either exclusive or no longer exists. At any rate, I'm normally not a gloss gal but the dense sparkles of this one really lure me into its magic. It does have a light coconut and vanilla scent like the pamphlet says and it can be worn alone or to supplement a non-glitter lip color you have to make it SHINE. I dabbed a little of this over my bold red lipstick and it really brought it to another dang level. Certainly holiday party appropriate. It's a bit sticky still for my tastes so I'll probably pass it to a friend but it certainly is pretty!

Luna by Luna Loose Translucent Powder, 0.17 oz. Full Size - Retail Value $22.00

(All subscribers get this item.)

This is actually perfect because I've been meaning to buy a new translucent powder to set my makeup. Sometimes I go a little crazy with my highlighter and a layer of powder softens it a touch too. This full-size container comes with a loose powder that can be shaken through the sifter holes to the included powder puff but I prefer to use a brush when applying. As it promises, this is truly translucent and gives a nice even matte finish to my face. I can also toss this into my bag to touch use to soak up the inevitable oil that shows up on my face throughout the day. Glad this showed up!

Copper + Crane Radiance Mask, 3.3 oz. Full Size - Retail Value $45.00

(All subscribers get this item.)

Wow- I was not expecting this grand of a mask! It perfectly fits their brand name since it's a metallic copper color in a thick formula. I normally go for a silicone brush when applying a mask like this, but I opted for just using my fingertips. I was delighted the entire time I was slathering this around my eyes and mouth since I've never used a metallic mask before. I felt ROYAL. After 15 minutes, the mask was dry and ready to slowly peel off (from the jawline upwards). I did this while watching the Great British Baking Show and was pleased with how easily it came off and how wonderful my skin felt afterward. There was only a small amount left to remove with a damp cloth and my skin looked great!

Jafra Luxury Lip Liner in Victoria, Full Size - Retail Value $14.00

(This is a variant item.)

While I was kind of hoping for the lipstick, I ended up getting the lip liner variant. I do own quite a few red lipsticks already though, so this liner will come in handy. It does glide onto my lips exceptionally well which of course is very helpful when applying to delicate skin. Lip lining with a bold color such as red is even more important in my eyes than when wearing a nude color that is closer to be skin tone because mistakes while applying red lipstick are far more noticeable. This liner allows me to get a good shape first before filling in and prevents any bleeding from my lip color. It happens to match one of my favorite red liquid lipsticks, so this is a win.

Kaleido Astrolight Highlighter in Electric, Full Size - Retail Value $17.00

(This is a variant item.)

First of all, this smells sweet like candy which pretty fun. This liquid highlighter is PACKED with a metallic punch that is on the gold side of copper. I'm was a little wary of putting this directly onto my face with the applicator since it's so pigmented, but I went for it and quickly buffed it around my upper cheekbones to give them a soft glow. The only trouble is that I am extremely pale and prefer it that way, so this is a bit dark for me and wears more like a bronzer. I could see it being better on someone who wants a warm glow because it certainly attains that but not quite what I'm looking for in a highlighter.

Here are swatches for the lip liner, highlighter, and lip gloss.

Verdict: GlossyBox hooked me up with five full-size products this month that have a total retail value of $120.00 which is a wonderful value for a $21.00 cost. The mask and powder were probably my faves and I'll get use from the lip liner, but the gloss and highlighter will be passed to a pal. It was good to see a mix of brands I've heard of with some new ones to discover and the variety of products I found to be awesome.

I have been very happy with this sub I started in November. I actually gave the November box away in a giveaway on my Facebook group. No particular reason other than to just make someone feel good. I am keeping my Dec and Jan box though. Their shipping has been outstanding. Loving this sub.

I got this box with a lipstick in a very unappealing color. I will not be using anything except for the face mask.

If the highlight is too dark for you, try using it as an eyeshadow instead!

Oooh- good call! Thanks for the tip, I wouldn’t think of that.

I love the Copper Mask! Pure bliss and the results were definitely evident. I subscribed for 6 months through a Black Friday special. I had been a subscriber for two years, and did not renew when boxes became a mess and customer service was horrid. I’m hoping with the new management their boxes will improve.

How’s the flashback on that finishing powder? I’m really thinking about trying this box out and I need setting powder pretty bad 😂

Also, does anyone know if this box charges the full amount for a 3 month or if they divide it up? – I can’t remember…

It’s got silica so you’ll get flashback on an HD camera with a flash. Dont use a flash on your photos and you wont have a problem with any powder!
If you arent going to be on a television camera any time soon, flashback isn’t really something you have to worry about. Phone cameras don’t create that effect in my experience, nor do traditional dslrs under theatrical or standard lighting.

So much knowledge, Anne! Thank you!

You pay the full amount for the 3 months up front, but it is discounted if you get longer subscriptions.
