Cat Claws Club December 2018 - Box

Cat Claws Club Box

Cat Claws Club is a bimonthly subscription box for cats filled with lots of toys, treats, and other surprises. (They just use whatever box will fit the items, so it varies from month to month, hence the odd photo location, but it allows for some unusual item shapes, which can be fun!)

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Cat Claws Club December 2018 Review

This subscription is pretty heavy on the toys and is often, but not always, holiday-themed. This is also one of the only cat subscriptions where you get scratch pads regularly. Let’s see what was in the box this month:

There’s usually a booklet with more information on the items.

Cat Claws Club December 2018 - Calendar

Cat Claws Club December 2018 - Calendar 2

2019 Calendar

This is a promotional item but it is useful. I need a calendar every year to keep track of what days to give which medicine to Nyx and Mr. Kitty (there is an alternating schedule) and this should do nicely. I think my vet’s office gets the same calendar printed, or at least, they have a very similar one hanging by their front desk (i.e., puppies and kittens together in each photo).

Cat Claws Club December 2018 - Mouse

Omni-Pet Plaid Mouse

This has a BELL so it is for Angus to play with at night, outside of the bedroom. It is small and good for tossing (I have already seen it move around some). I can’t find this brand for sale online but I do see it pop up in cat subscription boxes every now and then.

Cat Claws Club December 2018 - Scratcher

Double Tray Cat Scratcher Combo – Retail Value $30.95

This is the only cat subscription that regularly sends scratchers. This one includes a nice wooden holder. You can buy refill scratchers from Cat Claws. (You can see pictures of this uncovered down below.) Most of my cats like scratchers (even Mr. Kitty, who doesn’t have his front claws, will sleep on them) but I think Sneaky was the biggest fan.

Cat Claws Club December 2018 - Wand

Glitter Wand – Retail Value $3.50

Several of my cats thought this was awesome. (Shh, don’t tell Sneaky that she and Angus liked the same toy!) You can see it in action below.

Angus liked this wand but he only wanted to play with it behind the couch…

Madison isn’t sure what to think.

Monkey liked the wand OK, but he was mostly interested in the box.

Still investigating.

If Sneaky wants something, she will not let any other cats have it.

Cat Claws Club December 2018 - Sneaky 3

I don’t always say this, especially for boxes without food, but I think Sneaky wins the MVP award for photos this time around.

Cat Claws Club December 2018 - Sparkles 1

I let Mr. Kitty sniff the mouse, then he went back to sleep. He doesn’t really play anymore (but he is old and blind).

Verdict: I couldn’t calculate a total value since some of the items weren’t available online, but the scratcher and the wand together were $34.45, which is a little over the cost of the box. That means the calendar and mouse toy can be considered as bonuses. I liked the variety of items this month and the big-ticket item totally worked for us, so this was another good box for us.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today?  No, Cat Claws Club ships once every other month. Your first box would be February’s box if you signed up now. (But, many of the items are available for individual purchase from CatClaws.com.)

Value Breakdown: This box costs $33.90, which means you are paying approximately $8.47 for each item in this month's box.

Hi Ragan,
This is regarding a different cat sub. I received the Pet Treater for cats yesterday. I was wondering if you have received yours yet. The reason I am asking, is because, there was only 2 items in the bag. A Santa toy and a bag of pop’n bites treats. I was wondering if there are missing items, or is that all there is, this month… Kind of disappointing. They usually have at least 4 or 5 items, even if one is just a sticker LOL

Ragan

I have received mine. I had a santa hat (for cats), a dangler wreath thing, a penguin toy that hangs on the door handle, and the same treats you described.
