Originally, The Bookish Box was a subscription box filled with bookish objects only – no actual books involved. Recently, though, they changed up their game and added several subscription varieties to choose from, including one that does have a book inside.

The Bookish Box “Story in the Stars” November 2018 Review
Included in the box is a booklet that highlights this month's theme “Story in the Stars”. The “Story in the Stars” boxes feature stories that take place in space and star related bookish goodies.

This book, this box, in fact, is a departure from what I would normally be interested in reviewing. I'm branching out in the hopes of finding new authors and new stories that move and inspire me. This Splintered Silence sucks you in right from the beginning. The story is so vivid and the emotions immediately relatable. My guess is that I’ll complete this book in just a few days.
Collectors Enamel Pin by Dust and Pages – Listed Value $8.00
This pin is inspired by The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery, a story about a little boy said to be born on an asteroid who meets a pilot stranded in the desert. This pin designed by Dust and Pages reads “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly”. This pin is so pretty, shiny, bright and poetic. It’s well-made and part of Bookish Book’s collector’s series number 4 out of 14.
Vinyl Sticker by KDP Letters – Stated Retail Value $5.00
This sticker is inspired by Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff, a romantic space opera told through a collection of classified documents, e-mails and interview. The sticker reads “You have me until the last star in the galaxy dies, you have me.”
Friendly Body Product Orange Mint Lip Balm – Listed Value $5.00
Inspired by Aiden from Illuminae, this Bookish Box exclusive orange and mint-scented lip balm smells so good and left my lips moisturized. The mint causes a cool but pleasant sensation.
Round Throw by The Bookish Shop – Listed Value $25.00
Inspired by the Throne of Glass Series, a story about a teenaged assassin in a corrupted kingdom, the throw contains a quote by author Sarah J. Mass. This textile feels more like a drapery and isn’t thick or soft enough to double as a blanket.
Stars Necklace – Listed Value $12.00
Inspired by another Sarah J. Maas creation, The Night Court is one of the seven courts of the continent Prythian and 1 of the 3 solar courts consisting of the Court of Dreams and the Court of Nightmares. This three-star necklace is subtle and cute. Its packaging reads
Imagine being given three wishes. Place this necklace close to your heart, close your eyes, wish big and believe.
Monthly Calendar Card – Stated Retail Value $5.00
A December calendar card is included in this month box and highlight’s next month’s “Quartz & Castles” theme.
Verdict: This is a whole new genre and experience for me! What I learned, reviewing this box and researching the items included, makes me want to add every referenced book to my reading list! The goodies lean toward a younger audience which makes sense for the genre and a YA book. I’m sure the tweens in my family would be happy to take a few items off my hands! I’ll also add that I’m impressed with the diversity of partnerships highlighted in this box. Thus far, I’m enjoying the book This Splintered Silence the most and I really like the lip balm.
This Bookish Box costs $36.49 with shipping and has a stated retail value of $77.99. Although I think the stated values are a little high, the total is still double the price of the box itself making it a value for a newly released book and truly unique and book inspired goodies.
