Yes, Oh Yas! October 2018 Review

This month includes 4 makeup items, including a palette and a brush, and a nail lacquer. Let’s see what they sent!

info card front list of items

The included info card lists names and values for each item and gives you an idea of the theme "Resting Witch Face". Just a note: I found some discrepancies between the values listed online and on this card. I just included the current listed value online for you below.

IBY Beauty City Limits Palette - Retail Value $20

Oh, I'm already impressed by this palette. It has 12 shades – 6 matte and 6 metallic – and I'm happy to see some nice colorful, deep shades like the navy and green. There's even a duo-chrome. I like that there are two shades that would work as transition shades (road trip and playlist) and one that can be used as a highlight. And, any of the darker shades make beautiful liners. The texture of all of them is buttery and they really pack some pigment.

look 1 facelook 1 eyes

Here's one quick look I created using this palette. I started with Road Trip in my crease and worked Dance Party from the middle of my lid to the outer corner. Then I blended Headliner onto the inner half of my lid. With my finger, I patted Fire & Ice over the center of my lid for some shine. I used the smudger brush (below) to sweep some Light Show (my favorite shade) onto my lower lashline. A little bit of Nightfall in my inner corners finished it off.

Skone Cosmetics Smudger Brush - Retail Value $12

This tiny smudger brush is unlike the other smudger brushes I have because it's so soft. I really like that I can work this over my lash line again and again without causing irritation, which can happen with stiffer brushes. It's perfect for really blurring out any shadow or liner for a soft, diffused look.

visionary shadow visionary shadow open

Mirabella Visionary Longwear Eyeshadow in Vivid, 9g - Retail Value $29 (found here for $10)

This is such a cool texture for eyeshadow. It feels like spongy mousse in the jar, applies like a cream, and quickly turns into a powder. The blendability is great and once it sets, it lasts all day. The shade is a rosy pink with gold shimmer and flecks of glitter. The glitter is the only thing stopping me from using this as a blush, which would be beautiful. See it swatched below.

STIKS Rose Lipstick - Retail Value $18

You may have seen me review another of these STIKS lipsticks before. This time around I got a rose shade which I really like. The formula is creamy and comfortable with no scent. The problem is this is the trickiest tube ever! You have to be really careful to retract the lipstick all the way before closing the lid or it will chop right through it and make a mess. Before, I wasn't crazy about the shape, but I'm getting used to it. Here it is swatched on the left of the eyeshadow.

look 2 eyes look 2 face

The second look I created with this box was a simple and super fast one. After applying my tinted moisturizer, I used my finger to apply some of the eyeshadow to my lids, layering more on the outer half. Then I used what was left on my finger to give my cheeks a little flush (ok, I did use it as blush). Then I swiped on a coat of the STICKS lipstick and a coat of mascara.

NCLA 7-Free Nail Lacquer in I Been Drinkin', 13.3ml - Retail Value $16

Lastly, we have a bright watermelon pink nail lacquer. This lacquer is 7-free*, vegan, and cruelty-free. Even though it feels a little summery for this time of year, it's so beautiful I can't complain. Two coats gave opaque coverage with a smooth finish. Top it with a good clear top coat to make it last for several days.

*Contains NO Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, DBP, Toluene, Camphor, TPHP, OR XYLENE

Verdict: I'm very happy with this month's Yes, Oh Yas! It has a value of $95 which is great for a cost of $14.99 +$3.99 shipping. There is a definite pink theme this month. The palette blows me away for being only $20 and I'm super impressed with the staying power of the mousse eyeshadow from Mirabella. This is a fun and inexpensive makeup subscription to choose if you like to be totally surprised each month.

I’ve heard about them listing way higher prices than what it’s really worth. Heard about it on YouTube. It’s not fake products though or anything but it irks me

Hi Tiffany!! Beautiful looks you’ve created, I love this palette I’ve managed to collect all 3 palettes in this series thanks to subscription boxes!! I love all 3 palettes except this 1 City Limits is my fave of all 3 of them!! I seen in the comments someone’s recommended the Lola Beauty Box to you, if you don’t already get that box I’d recommend it to you too!! However I don’t think that box is better bcuz in my opinion I think this box is a lot better!! You can’t beat this box for the price and all full sized products that’s NOT bad for the price even paying shipping it’s still less than $20 bucks!! I highly recommend this box and Lola to whoever is interested or curious, you just can’t beat the price!!

Hi Tiffany!! Your so beautiful, everything looks beautiful on you!! Your beautiful even with NO makeup at all!! I love the looks you’ve created with the products!! I loved Yes oh Yas this month!! I love it every month, I’m never disappointed with this subscription!! I skipped 1 month bcuz the eye shadow palette they included the month I skipped was gonna be a dupe so I just skipped that month but other than that this is a fave subscription of mine!! It ranks up there with Boxycharm to me anyways!! I’ve collected all 3 of those IBY palettes now thanks to yes oh Yas and Lola I managed to get all 3, City Limits is my fave of all 3 of them though!! I just love all the shades in the City Limits palette and I’ve used just about all the shades in the palette it’s a beautiful palette with beautiful colors in it!! Someone else recommended Lola to you and if you don’t already get it I highly recommend it also, I wouldn’t go as far and say Lola is better bcuz in my opinion I don’t think it is but it is an AMAZING subscription also!! I do receive Yes oh Yas to and love it, I’ve had this subscription since they started it last January so it’s going to be a year for me and a 1 year anniversary for Yes oh Yas!! I highly recommend this subscription to everyone that doesn’t already receive it it’s an AMAZING subscription and for the price and the full sized products you get, it can’t be beat!! Some month’s I think Yes oh Yas is better than Boxycharm, and that’s saying a lot for this subscription!! I don’t get anything for my rave comment nor do I work for them, nor am I an ambassador for the company!! Go get the subscription I promise if you like full sized products than you won’t be disappointed with this box!! Thanks Tiffany for the review!!💕😘💕

Wow, they’ve really been improving! This box is a bit bright for me, but I live that they include a lot of color!

I bought the IBY palette as an ipsy offer and love it. The texture of the shadows are very pigmented and buttery exactly like Tiffany described.

Ooooh. Looks fun

Boy they really inflated this prices on the enclosed card compared to the ACTUAL prices. Card said brush was $20 but it’s really $12 and so on…

Tarah

I experienced the same. I canceled after the first month, even though in general I liked the products. What’s the point of a promised retail value if they don’t list the accurate value?

Reply ButtonReply

Rosette

Yeah they really do lol
July 2018 was when they released the IBY Desert Vibes & it was actually worth $87, but they listed it was $107. All of the products were amazing & totally worth $17, so they didn’t really have to lie 😅
