Fandom of the Month Club "Space" Review

This is the box for April, but shipped late due to manufacturer and supplier issues and delays:

This box’s theme is outer space! Inside the box is a pretty card displaying the theme for the month, and the flip side has all of the social media details for the Fandom of the Month Club.

The bag this month features the classic space travel line, “to infinity and beyond!” The base of the bag, as always, is a sturdy cotton, and the print is well-transferred and looks like it’ll last a long time. The pouch is full of <nerdy> treats – let’s dig in!

Stephen Hawking Quote Magnet

This 2” x 3” magnet displays a space background with a quote from the man himself, Stephen Hawking. I think this is a wonderful tribute to the amazing theoretical physicist, cosmologist, and author who passed away in March of 2018.

Constellation Bracelet

This bracelet measures 6.5” across and around ½” wide, in order to fit my wrist (about 6.5") I had to adjust it by squeezing the metal to reshape it a bit, so I believe it would fit most larger wrist sizes. I like the plain design and subtly etched constellations, it's an understated nod to space for a low-key enthusiast.

Alien Earrings

These small studs feature green, three-eyed aliens. They're under ½" inch in diameter, and kind of look like small crowns to me. If aliens aren't your thing I think these could quickly be a DIY craft to become adorable little crown earrings if that's more your speed. Another use for these earrings could be to stab pin style onto a bookbag or jacket, to use as an embellishment.

Alien Earrings

Ah, E.T. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that all children of the 80s (like yours truly) have childhood memories of E.T. – perhaps watching the movie in the theatre, reenacting scenes with your friends, imagining that you were lucky enough to have an alien buddy who you could teach to "phone home"…. Ahh, memories. This ring is a nod to the movie, featuring the iconic flying bicycle image of ET and his buddy Elliott flying across the night sky. This ring is adjustable and will fit most adult fingers.

Space Charm Necklace

This brass necklace is 24” long and features 7 charms, all fitting the space theme. Some are glass planets (including earth) while others are more general space things (like a rocket blasting off and what I believe to be the millennium falcon). My 3-year-old son has already claimed this piece, he thinks it’s pretty awesome and has now asked me for a small rocket ship for Christmas that he can “blast off” and “zoom”!

Verdict: This was a fun and unexpected Fandom of the Month Club assortment this month. I loved the space theme and the fact that it played on different space movies/memorabilia and wasn't "just another" Star Wars box. I think the value is there, you get a lot of stuff for your $13 + $4.25 shipping!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, boxes are currently sold out. Sign up for the waitlist though and be notified of their next installment!

Value Breakdown: This box cost me $13.00 + $3.75 shipping, which means that each of the 6 items in the box has an average cost of $2.79. I think that’s more than reasonable, and that this box is a great value and fun treat for fans of fandom!

I waited 7 months to get the May box, this is the worst service ever!

Loved the boxes, but not 7 months to wait cancelled. No way is that worth it.

I wonder what happened to this subscription. The lady who does it is so nice.. and I will say I have gotten some of my all time favorite sub boxes from this lady. She sent me a Game of Thrones box that was flipping awesome! Oh well I hope she comes back

The fact that Erin sent this for a review free of charge while multiple customers still haven’t received it as of December 22 speaks volumes of her character and business sense. It’s shameful.

Was the April thing a typo?! At the top it says this box was delayed from April…it’s November.

That can’t be right…right?

There are still people waiting to even receive this “April” box while the “May” boxes are not shipped yet. The GOT Mega Box is completely MIA and no information is coming from Erin despite customers basically begging daily. The GOT BOXES cost some customers around $80 with shipping and exchange rates and they can’t get answers.

I know! I was thinking about this box, but the seven month delay is highly concerning.

I looked into this after posting, and indeed it’s been a 7 month delay. The company says they are getting back into shipping regularly, but that’s a huge concern. I wish MSA had made that more of a note on here. I would definitely want to know that a company is going through some shipping issues before subscribing.

FYI, those constellations on the bracelet are of the (Western) zodiac symbols. From left to right on the picture of just the bracelet: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces.

The quote “To Infinity and Beyond” as well as the earrings are from Toy Story. The charm bracelet includes the Tardis, the Enterprise, the Millennium Falcon, and Serenity the ship from the show Firefly. If you havent seen that show, I would highly recommend it. Its amazing. Only one season and a follow up movie. Cancelled too soon like so many other good sci fi series.

Thank you. I was just blinking at “general space things”. Those are ships from various space based fandoms!

I think the aliens are the ones from Toy Story. And the necklace has an Enterprise charm (star trek), Tardis phone booth charm (Dr. Who) Millenium Falcon charm (Star Wars,) and I think the last is Serenity from Firefly. 🙂

Anna

That’s a Doctor Who necklace.
