Bulu Box November 2018 Review

There isn’t a theme for Bulu Box and there is some personalization involved, so the contents are usually a surprise:

Bulu Box November 2018 - Booklet FrontBulu Box November 2018 - Booklet Back

Because of the variations with this subscription, there’s not a traditional information card listing the items.

There are also usually some coupons and/or product literature with this subscription. They don’t always relate to the items in the box. There was a lot of product literature this month.

Bulu Box November 2018 - Garden of Life GOLBar in Chocolate Sea Salt Front

Garden of Life GOLBar in Chocolate Sea Salt (2.11 oz) – Buy 12 Bars for $20.92

These have been making the rounds of the food and fitness subscription boxes lately; I’ve received a handful of these in the past few months. These are vegetarian but not vegan (contain dairy) and while the nutritional values are good (no sugar, reasonable fiber, 12g protein), the texture still needs a little work. These kind of turn to paste in your mouth and really stick to your teeth. One selling point of these is a low number of ingredients, but I’d be OK with a few more ingredients if it led to a more pleasing mouthfeel.

This product was also in the weight loss version of Bulu Box this month (in a different flavor).

Bulu Box November 2018 - Jakeman’s Throat and Chest Lozenges, Cherry Flavored Front

Jakeman’s Throat and Chest Lozenges, Cherry Flavored (30 count) – Buy 12 Bags for $76.70

This brand is new to me. As I investigated them before writing the review, I discovered that they offer lozenges in a lot of flavors you don’t see elsewhere (including things like blueberry and anise). So if the drugstore selection of flavors doesn’t work for you, there may be one from Jakeman’s that’s more to your liking. I don’t really have a need for throat and chest lozenges at this time, but winter cold season is coming and thanks to Bulu Box I will be totally stocked up with this type of product. These seem pretty strong to me.

Bulu Box November 2018 - Megafood D3 Wellness Mixed Fruit Gummies Front

Megafood D3 Wellness Mixed Fruit Gummies (2 count) – Buy 90 Gummies for $22.59 (found here for $20.33)

This brand has been making the rounds as well; I received some of their elderberry immune support gummies in another box this month. These are super low in sugar and taste more like fruit snacks than gummy candy (they’re thickened with pectin so they’re vegetarian). I don’t need to supplement with D3 but if I did, I would consider these – they’re actually quite low in calories for a gummy supplement.

This product was also in the weight loss version of Bulu Box this month.

Bulu Box November 2018 - Neurogan Hemp500 Front

Neurogan Hemp500 (100 capsules) – Retail Value $54.95 (found here for $39.95)

Every now and then, Bulu Box will send you a full bottle of a supplement. These capsules are vegan. They do have a nice mix of omega-3, -6, and -9 fatty acids, as well as some fiber and a few minerals (calcium, magnesium, potassium). But the main draw for this seems to be the CBD (cannabidiol), which comes from hemp plants but which does not contain THC. There is really quite a lot of bad information about CBD out there, with anyone and everyone starting up companies providing CBD beverages, snacks, personal lubricants, makeup products, supplements, and more, and there’s absolutely no regulation of the industry and products could vary widely in quality and strength among different manufacturers (some products may contain far more than is safe, while others may say they have it but contain little or none). There are also possibilities for drug interactions and about 10% of people who take it have elevated liver enzymes, suggestive of liver damage. Anyway, be really careful and read up on this from reliable sources and read up on drug interactions before starting the supplement (or any other supplement, for that matter).

Bulu Box November 2018 - Collagen Shake Drink Mix in Vanilla Almond Front

Dr. Kellyann’s Slim Collagen Shake Drink Mix in Vanilla Almond (0.88 oz) – Buy 7 Packets for $29.75

This is sweetened with monk fruit, which is not supposed to affect blood sugar levels. This can be used as a meal replacement or added to a smoothie. Collagen does show promise in studies for improving the condition of hair and nails, but it is not a vegetarian product (collagen can ONLY come from animal sources). Some of the Amazon reviews suggest the flavor is unpleasant (actually most of them do). This is also really expensive as protein powder goes; you can buy like a one pound tub that will last weeks for the same price as 7 individual packets of this.

Bulu Box November 2018 - Organic Livfit Superfood Blend Front

Organic Livfit Superfood Blend (0.42 oz) – Buy 12.7 oz for $16.48

This has vegan protein (hemp, pea, and quinoa) as well as some veggies like broccoli and tomatoes, fruits like blueberries, and some B vitamins added. It is also actually pretty affordable for a product of this type. (I know because I regularly buy superfood blends to put in my smoothies.) I added some to a smoothie and it worked well with my other ingredients (that is, my smoothie didn’t taste like broccoli or anything). I would consider buying this again in the future.

Bulu Box November 2018 - Ugly by Nature Raw Whipped Toothpaste in Xtreme Mint Front

Ugly by Nature Raw Whipped Toothpaste in Xtreme Mint – Buy in Full Size for $8.99

All right, I just don’t understand the push for fluoride-free toothpaste. Fluoride is so important for not getting cavities and not having fluoride is a deal-breaker for me, especially since I am stuck in Invisalign right now and I can see just how much plaque is growing on my trays even between cleanings. This is gluten-free, vegan, and non-GMO, and it does not contain sodium lauryl sulfate (which gives me canker sores) or artificial sweeteners. Anyway, if you’re in the market for this type of product, now you’re aware of the brand, but I’ll be sticking with my regular toothpaste.

This product was also in the weight loss version of Bulu Box this month.

Verdict: This month’s box had seven samples, so they’d average about $1.43 each. Of course, if you used a coupon when you signed up for your subscription, the cost would be lower for you. Alternatively, the hemp supplement is worth several times the cost of the box and you can consider everything else just a bonus. This was an unusual month that required quite a lot of research on my part (but I guess I learned something). I am becoming a fan of the Megafood gummies whereas I had not particularly liked gummy vitamins in the past (usually they have too much sugar). The lozenges show promise for when I get a winter cold, too, and I kind of want to order the blueberry ones to see if I like them.

I’d strongly recommend using our MYSUB799 coupon code when you subscribe and choosing either the regular or the weight loss box, but not both since there is a lot of product repetition between the two.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, December would be your first shipment. Also, keep in mind that there are variations in the boxes, so your box might not be exactly like mine in any given month.

Coupon - Use our coupon code MYSUB799 to get your subscription at $7.99 per month, for the lifetime of the subscription!

Value Breakdown: This box costs $10 + free shipping, which means that each of the 7 items in the box has an average cost of $1.43.

Obviously you know NOTHING about fluoride!
Maybe you need to do a little research before misleading people. A recent study in The Lancet, one of the most prestigious and highly regarded medical journals, recommended that fluoride be classified as a developmental neurotoxin along with lead, mercury, arsenic, PCBs, and toluene.

I’ve been using UGLY by nature toothpaste for 2 years and my teeth look and feel great! Even my dentist asked what I’m doing differently!

I didn’t get the bottle of supplements like you did, but I got something similar. I got 20 soft gels by Omax called phyto-max stress remedy, and it contains endocannabinoid, phytocannabinoids, Omega-3 and L-Theanine. it is supposed to promote relaxation, but you take it early in the day. I would think it would be more of a nighttime thing. Hmmm, just noticed you are supposed to take 2 per day, not one. No wonder I haven’t noticed anything! lol!

i just thought it was interesting that they offered 2 similar products but by 2 completely different companies and in very different quantities. Mine is about $80 for a 30 day supply, so I guess my sample is worth about $27.
