BomiBox October 2018 “Hydration” Review
I don’t think I’ve been this excited to try a new box in a while! I’ve been enticed by all the new, cool and innovative Korean beauty products but didn’t know where to start. This box feels like the perfect introduction and a great opportunity to find new gems to add to my regimen.
There wasn’t an info card in my box. I was worried especially since I can’t read the majority of the words on items! However, BomiBox has detailed information for each product on their website. I’m confident now that I know how to use each product as intended.
Ample: N Hyaluron Shot Emulsion - Retail Value $28.53 (25,00€)
Emulsions are moisturizers but much lighter, usually water-based and because they are thinner, they tend to absorb more quickly into the skin. With hyaluronic acid, xylitol complex, vitamins, minerals and polyphenols, this emulsion promises deep hydration. The product has a fresh scent that’s barely there. I’m sensitive to strong scents so this is perfect for me. The emulsion went on smooth, light and feels great on my skin which was noticeably softer. This is a winner!
It’s Skin Power Brightening 10 Formula Vitamin C Cleansing Foam - Retail Value $5.52
This cleanser is designed to remove dirt, oil, and makeup while also hydrating and brightening your skin with vitamin C and camellia leaf extract. It has a clean citrusy scent. The gel-like consistency was a little off-putting at first but it quickly turns into a foam when wet and rubbed together. I enjoyed washing my face but the cleanser was difficult to remove. I'll try it again and maybe use a little less product.
SecretKey Starting Treatment Eye Cream - Retail Value $10 (Found here for $7.50)
An anti-aging eye cream? Sign me up! This eye cream contains galactomyces which claim to hydrate, brighten and reduce the appearance of wrinkles around your eyes. The eye cream doesn’t have a scent which I liked but it is also very thick and heavy around my eyes. I’m not sure this product will work for me.
Klavuu Personal Care Aurora Pearl Eye Mask - Retail Value $3.33
This eye mask claims to be made of high-concentrated Korean pearl essence and honestly have no idea what this is but it sounds amazing! To use this mask, after washing and applying toner, the instructions say to leave on the eye mask for 20–40 minutes. I’ll have to save this mask for Self-Care Sundays as that’s a big mid-week time commitment. I am excited to see if it will actually leave my eyes brighter and revitalized.
Innisfree Jeju Life Hand Cream, Yuja Tea - Retail Value $5.00
Hands are one of the places that will easily show your age. I already have a routine of gently exfoliating and moisturizing my hands and I'm always on the lookout for a hydrating hand cream. I received the Yuja Tea scented hand cream with a zesty citrus scent that I loved. After applying the hand cream, my hands felt moisturized but it was a little greasier than I would like. However, the thickness of the cream and the lovely scent will keep me coming back to this. This is another winner for me!
Benton Aloe BHA Soothing Gel Mini - Retail Value $2.28
I was most curious about this sample size mini gel. I had to read the instruction to understand exactly what it is intended for. This gel contains aloe and propolis that claims to soothe irritated skin, fade acne scars, brighten skin tone and help maintain hydration. Since I suffer from hyperpigmentation, I applied the gel to a few acne scars that I would like to fade. Time will tell if it makes a difference.
Leaders Insolution Ex Aqua Advanced Facial Mask – Estimated Value $3.40 (Buy a pack of 10 for $34.00)
This mask promises to nourish your skin with hydrating Alps Glacial Water and a ton of really impressive ingredients like honey extract, propolis extract, and hyaluronic acid. What's more impressive is what's not in the mask. This mask is free of oils, parabens, fragrance, alcohol and other skin irritating ingredients.
JMSolution Glow Luminous Aurora Mask - Retail Value $3.00
With more essence and pearl extract, this mask wants to brighten and hydrate your skin. The natural cellulose mask is intended to be lightweight and easy to use. It's only suggested to be left on for 10-20 minutes so this mask is something I grabbed for a little mid-week pampering.
The Verdict: I loved the variety of products included in this month’s BomiBox. With the exception of the two face masks, each product had a specific and different function. I received a full range of products – emulsion, wash, cream, gel, and mask for face and eyes. Almost every item is hydrating – in line with this month’s theme. My favorite products were the Ample N emulsion and the Innisfree hand cream.
These beauty items were very difficult to find online. To get the retail values, I had to convert some prices from Euro, Canadian Dollar and Malaysian Ringgit to USD. While the retail values stated are the best that I could find, the potential cost of shipping these products from our countries should be considered. This box cost $37.99 and has an estimated retail value of $61.04. I believe this is a fair value for the opportunity to try mostly full-size Korean beauty products that are unique and hard to find.
I do wish BomiBox had a shop to purchase the products or a link to reputable sites to buy from. I worry about falling in love with a product only to find that it’s nearly impossible to track down. Overall, this box exceeded my expectations, I believe it’s worth the cost and I’m looking forward to next month’s box.
To Wrap Up:
Can I get this box if I sign up today? No, you must order by the 15th to receive that month’s box.
