Naked Cosmetics Holographic Highlighter - Retail Value $39.99 (found here for $29.99)

Between the holographic packaging and this holo palette, my eyes are delighted. I wish the same was true for the powders in the palette. Ok...not to be harsh, but they aren't "holo," they're iridescent. A couple of them are even duo-chrome! I tend toward more natural colors for my facial highlights, but I think these make for great eyeshadow toppers. There seems to be an overspray of more shimmery texture, but once you get past that, they are soft and almost creamy feeling. The subtle metallic effect isn't as impactful as some similar products but is pretty and easy to wear.

Chella Beauty Matte Lipstick in Wondrous Wine - Retail Value $20

I really didn't know what to expect from this lip pencil. The packaging made me think bright orange but it's actually a deep red-wine shade. And super matte! I enjoy pencil formulas for how easy application can be. this one is a little difficult to get a crisp line with, but a pass of a lip brush to neaten edges helps. I applied a coat, blotted, and applied again and was surprised at the staying power. Even after the initial layer wore off (after a dressing-heavy salad) there was still a stain-like flush left.

Glo Stix Semi-Matte Liquid Lipstick in Honey Bun - Retail Value $18 (currently sold-out)

*Sigh* I'm pretty sure I've tried every one of the 4 shades of this liquid lipstick at some point. Although I love this plummy shade a lot, this formula and I aren't meant for each other. I like that it doesn't dry down completely and suck the life out of my lips, but it is just too high maintenance for me. It only takes a few sips of coffee for it to start wearing off in a chunky way. When it's time to touch up, it needs to be removed completely before reapplying.

Aesthetica Pro Series 3-Piece Eye & Brow Brush Set - Retail Value $45

I love that this set is basically everything you'd need to create the cleanest brows and cat eye you could ever want. The angle brush and liner brush are sharp, yet soft, and perfect for either filling in brows or applying liner to the lashline. The spoolie is also soft and works to blend color into your eyebrows for a natural look. The synthetic bristles work well with creams, gels, or powders too. The value seems super high compared to other brands, but they are good brushes, so I'm not complaining.

Makeup look makeup look - eyes

Here's a look with the Glo Stix liquid lip and Naked Cosmetics highlighter palette used as eyeshadow. After applying a matte crease shade, I patted a bit of the purple and pink shades on to my inner corner with my fingertip. For extra oomph, I used the liner brush to apply some of the blueish shade to my bottom lashline. I then used the angled liner brush to pack a bit of charcoal-colored shadow onto my top and bottom lash line.

Verdict: This month’s Yes, Oh Yas! has a value of $122.99 which is great for a cost of $14.99 +$3.99 shipping. I'm happy with most of the items this month. The only one I'm not a fan of is the Glo Stix liquid lip, but in general Yes, Oh Yas! has been including good quality, fun products. I can tell that they are evolving every month as a subscription and I'm excited to see what's included next month.

I received the naked cosmetics highlight palette in my boxy charm I still love it. I didn’t like the dark lip colors I love browns but not that dark. I am ordering the yes oh yas in November 2018 I loved the spoilers

I had a palette of holographic light shadows similar to this from Starlooks. Probably still have it as I couldn’t really figure out how to use such light shades.

However, I think some companies have made STUNNING holo shadows, UD has some, I have a few from Vanishing Cabinet and some indie brands. The depth of colors makes all the difference. These may do well as wet to dry shadows in the innter corners of the eye. I’d use a liner brush to apply them sparingly.

Looks like a very nice box to me, overall. 😉

Great value. But repeat products if your subbed to other beauty boxes. Wish they had different brands. Don’t really like the quantity, 3-7 items is a big difference in what you get for the price. Nice box if your looking for full size items but want to stay under $20/mo.

This sub is great! I just got the October one in the mail.

Highlighter palette and brushes were both in Boxycharm, Glo liquid lip was in Lola and the Chella lip pencil is the 2nd lippie in the box. I really want to try this sub but there always seems to be repeat products I recently received from other sub boxes. Kind of bums me out. Still great value though!

Most of these cratejoy boxes share the same vendor and inventory lists, so it makes sense that you will see a lot of product overlap. Now that the subscription box business model is open to anyone with a keyboard…. maybe that sounds rude and this comment will probably get deleted, but it is true.

I actually swapped for the Naked Cosmetics Palette, and I was so disappointed with the total lack of “holo” that I threw it away (I didn’t feel comfortable swapping used eye products). Agreed, the packaging was divine.

Check out Simply Nailogical. She went on a quest to search for true holo makeup. When she found it, she determined that we don’t find more of it because it’s just not pretty on the skin!

I was thinking about what Cristine would say as I was swatching this palette! Lol

Jackie

I was going to make a similar comment Carrie! Maybe as a liquid eyeliner it would work, but the those holo products did not work well as intended.

Also, Holo fellow Holosexual!
