The Vegan Cuts Beauty Box is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. All of their products are vegan (and they tend to be natural, too). They also typically include a nice mix of full-size and sample beauty items. Vegan Cuts also offers a monthly Snack Box and quarterly Makeup Box.

This review is of the Vegan Cuts Beauty, $22.95 a month, box. 

Vegan Cuts sends a single package to subscribers who get both the beauty and snack boxes. The beauty items are separated into a little bag. (If you do not get the snack box, I don’t think you get the little bag.)

Vegan Cuts Beauty Box October 2018 Review

The Vegan Cuts Beauty Box usually contains a variety of hair care, skincare, and bath and body products.  There’s often one makeup product, as well:

Naobay Origin Recovery Mask for Sensitive Skin (2.53 fl oz) – Retail Value $20.58 (found here for $16.46)

This has a little bit of bentonite but not as much as typical clay masks and it doesn’t dry out on your face like other clay masks. There are not really instructions on the package at all so I just put it all over my face and left it for 10 minutes, then washed it off. I think it was soothing and moisturizing without leaving my skin all oily or anything.

Botanical People Orange Blossom Radiance Mist (1 fl oz) – Estimated Value $4.63 (buy 4 fl oz for $18.50)

This is basically a lot of flower waters and extracts.  I am not really a user of facial mists or sprays but I tried this as a toner and it was all right for that. It is finally starting to get cold and I do like alcohol-free toners for winter (this is alcohol-free). It has a distinctive scent that I think a lot of people will like and it is a decent toner and also removes traces of makeup that cleansing didn’t get.

Cosmedica Skincare Brightening Eye Treatment (0.5 oz) – Retail Value $12

Well, this is supposed to help with dark circles and dullness and those are not really problems I have, but it also has hyaluronic acid (presumably from a plant or bacterial source), which is a long polymer that holds on to a lot of water molecules at the surface of the skin.  So it’s moisturizing, which may help minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It is a little thinner than I like for my eye treatments to be, but on the other hand, it is good under foundation in the morning (i.e., it doesn’t interfere with the application of makeup).

Frownies Under Eye Gels (one set) – Estimated Value $7.32 (buy 3 sets for $21.95, found here for $19.95)

These are supposed to be reusable but I don’t really feel that it is sanitary to reuse face mask-type products so I am not planning to do so. If I was really into under-eye gels, I might feel differently, but this is a type of product I am not such a fan of using because I have to lie down the whole time or they slide off my face, and I can’t wear glasses with them, so I can’t really see when I have them on. I put these in the refrigerator before using them and they were nice and cooling.

I am not sure about the manufacturer’s website, though. There are multiple misspellings of the word “minute” in their FAQ and they claim to have an ingredient called “cactus collagen” but plants don’t make collagen so I guess this is just a polymer that has some properties that are kind of like collagen properties.

Peony Wonder Bloom Eyeshadow Duo (0.11 oz) – Retail Value $15

Here is this month’s makeup product. I don’t think I would use these two colors together as together they remind me of a healing bruise, but separately they are both quite wearable for me. I have worn the purple one so far and, over primer, it stayed on all day. I didn’t really get fallout and it didn’t irritate my eyes.

Here are swatches of the eyeshadows. Pay no mind to the black line, I can only swatch on my left arm and still take a picture due to the arrangement of parts on my camera, and I was having trouble getting that off.

Vya Naturals Rose Hydrating Body Butter (100g) – Estimated Value $10.87 (795 rupees)

Amazon is the distributor for this product in the United States and I guess this item came directly from the Amazon warehouse, as you can see from the first picture. (I’ve linked to the manufacturer website in India above.) Anyway, several items were possible from this brand and I received a body butter. It smells very nice if you like rose (and luckily, I do). This has a whipped texture and I might use it for a hand cream just because I am looking for one with about this consistency and also because when I tried it that way I was happy with the results. (I get very dry skin in this weather.)

Verdict: I calculated a value of $70.40 for this month’s Vegan Cuts Beauty Box. That is more than three times the cost of the subscription and almost all of the items and brands were new to me (I’ve received Frownies products in other boxes before and I was already familiar with Naobay, although not this particular item). Everything was pretty usable for me and actually pretty good going into colder weather, although we do seem to get mists and sprays a little more often than I would like.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, the October box is still available. They don’t have a standard cut-off date, but boxes ship until their next month’s spoilers launch (typically between the 26th and 29th of each month). If you are interested in trying some of the items, though, watch the Vegan Cuts shop for sales – they offer large bundles of past items fairly regularly.
