Piibu Box September 2018 Review

piibu sheet mask green mask

Naisture Moisture Green Tea Mask - Retail Value $1.00

Heavy on botanicals, green tea masks are nice because of their antibacterial properties! That’s because green tea contains catechins, which can suppress acne-causing bacteria, in particular. I like using them with the weather changes right now; my skin goes from dry to oily in a heartbeat every time the temps drop, and this mask seemed to help keep any potential breakouts at bay. It was a good amount of serum and had a vague, but pleasant smell.

piibu sheet mask coenzyme Q10

Mijin Costmetics Coenzyme Q10 Essence Mask - Retail Value $1.99

This mask is supposed to promote tightness, and masks that make tightening or firming claims are usually best when used regularly! I try to get one of this type on my face at least once a week so that I can see the results over time. This has a pretty, sweet smell, and offers a good amount of serum, too. I appreciated the generous nose opening in this one, but my skin doesn’t seem any different after use, sadly.

piibu sheet mask marine complex

Kina Cosmetics Marine Complex Face Mask - Estimated Value $2.00

This mask combines algae and collagen to be both intensely moisturizing and to detoxify skin. I’m not sure about the detox properties, but this mask was definitely moisturizing! I had to turn my heat on this week because it’s getting really cold in PA, and I feel like this helped offset the dryness I’ve been experiencing in my house. I couldn't find this exact mask online, but I found a similar one from the same brand to estimate value.

piibu sheet mask snail formula

Farmstay Visible Difference Snail Mask - Buy 10 for $11.31 here

It took a little while for me to come around on some of the more exotic ingredients in masks, but I will definitely say that as of now, I’m fully on team snail! These masks are usually touted for their restorative properties, and I find them to be a good “reset” mask when my skin is looking especially slagged. I like using snail masks after being out in the sun, but I used this one this week after about three nights of no sleep, and while it went on a bit sticky (snails, am I right?), it didn’t stay that way. I used the extra essence on my neck and I looked much more hydrated after using it.

piibu sheet mask baobab

A’pieu My Skinfit Baobab Mask - Retail Value $2.00 (Found here for $1.00)

I wasn’t familiar with baobab, a tree extract, before using this mask! As I mentioned, I struggle with hydration in the winter, and I’ve been having trouble sleeping, so my biggest facial concerns are how hugely tired I tend to look during the week. The moisture in this lasted for a good forty minutes, so I hung out and just left it on. This mask also delivered some moisturizing benefits, and I liked that it looked like I had actually napped after using it.

piibu sheet mask pureness mask

Tony Moly Pureness 100 Caviar Mask Sheet - Retail Value $1.99

Tony Moly is a pretty common brand; of all the products I receive in this subscription, I would say that most people would be familiar with Tony Moly. Because of this, I’m sad that the main ingredient in this mask was caviar! Caviar is such a luxury ingredient, I think it would’ve been a great opportunity for this box to go for a higher-end brand and include a higher-value mask. This mask did an okay job; I thought my skin looked a little brighter after using it, but I didn’t notice a huge difference overall.

piibu sheet mask p+c mask

Ladykin Saference SKIN-RX Pore Closing Mask - Retail Value $2.99

I am always extremely interested in masks that address skin concerns beyond moisturization, and this one seemed like a great one to get to work at keeping my complexion as nice as possible! This mask addressed a major concern for me this month; there was a large pimple on my forehead that refused to come to a head, but rather, just hung out for a few days. No matter what I did, it just stayed there, plotting and generally being evil. This mask finally stopped its plan! It didn’t vanquish my pimple completely, but after using this it was far less swollen and way less red. Thank goodness!

piibu sheet mask honey mask

Secret Key Nature Recipe Honey Mask - Retail Value $2.60

As the highest-valued mask in the bunch, I had the highest expectations for this mask, but sadly, this was a bit of a letdown. I’m a big fan of honey as an ingredient; I’m always talking about how great it is for restoration, especially after time in the sun. However, this mask was sticky and stayed that way, and I saw no difference in my skin after using it.

Verdict: I was really glad to see 8 masks in this month’s Piibu Box; for the past few months I’ve been a little disappointed in lower-valued, 7-mask offerings. That being said, I still wish there was at least one extremely high-valued mask in this subscription on a regular basis. The one that was valued the highest wasn’t as good as others I’ve tried in the past. That being said, there were some high performers in the mix; I enjoyed the pore-closing, snail, and baobab masks and would definitely buy them again. I’m glad there were 8 masks this month, but I still think there are opportunities for Piibu to make this subscription even more enjoyable.

Could you please photograph the backs of the masks as well? I know some or most might be in another language but it can be helpful

You got $16 of masks for $20. They need to put more masks or higher value masks. If not better off just buying it on your own
