Pet Treater Cat Pack September 2018 Review
I sometimes find the dog version of Pet Treater a little bit random but the cat version (maybe because it is smaller) is often a little more focused:
There’s not a traditional information card with this subscription, but you get a couple of inserts including a humorous sticker.
Petlinks Kitty Pillar – Retail Value $6.48
This is more of a Monkey item. He really likes canvas textures. Sneaky, meanwhile, likes to chew on stringy things, so there is something for her here, too.
Petlinks Catnip Stogie – Retail Value $7.85
This is a compressed catnip “cigar.” This is typically a toy that Mr. Kitty would like but he wasn’t so much in the mood for pictures. I’ve put it in one of his favorite spots for him to rediscover later on. Most everyone was willing to give it a sniff, though.
Fancy Feast Purely Natural Wild Alaskan Salmon Filets – Buy 10 for $18.90 (found here for $10.65)
I have bought the tuna version of these before (see below) as I am trying to get Monkey to gain weight and it is something he will actually eat (sometimes). We had never tried the salmon before so I opened that one up for the pictures this month. It was easier to cut/mash into pieces than the tuna and it was quite popular.
Fancy Feast Purely Natural Tuna Filets – Buy 10 for $19.99
This is an item I usually keep on hand and that my cats really love. Monkey is a fan and Sneaky and Madison will finish up what he doesn’t eat. I find it easier for the cats to handle if you kind of press it with the side of a fork a whole bunch to break it into smaller pieces.
Gratuitous kitty photos:
Angus is skeptical.
Angus with the caterpillar.
Angus finished off the salmon (he was too timid to get in there when Sneaky was at the plate). Sadly, Angus has since had some serious digestive issues and is eating hypoallergenic kibble with no treats for at least two months (it doesn’t have to do with this product, which was fine for Sneaky, Madison, and Monkey, it has to do with Angus’s digestive system and food allergies). But hey, I barely broke $100 at the vet’s office this time and it was two whole weeks since my last visit with a sick cat (Monkey’s eye, which is all better now), so that seems like progress.
Monkey was still in the cone for these pictures but his eye is all better and he is free now (and Angus is back in a cone…).
He was happy to sniff this for a very long time, from all angles.
Sharing the salmon.
Monkey wanted to rub his teeth on the cigar.
I had to help him get some of the salmon. The cone was getting in his way.
Sneaky had one interest only, and it was not toys. (That’s just how she is.)
Mr. Kitty was having his afternoon nap in the sunny window and there wasn’t much you could do to rouse him. (He is wearing the cone because he keeps wanting to rub his eye and we don’t want him to lose the only one he’s got left! He goes back to the veterinary ophthalmologist next week for a checkup.)
Verdict: I couldn’t calculate a total value for the October 2018 Pet Treater Cat Pack because several items were not available for individual sale online. (You may be able to pick up the Fancy Feast items in pet stores individually.) But, the two toys alone have retail values that add up to the price of the subscription, and the treats are not exactly cheap (plus you get to try ONE of something to see if your cat likes it before shelling out $20 for a full package). This was one of the best months for this subscription (for us personally) for us in a while.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you’d receive November’s package as your first shipment. Also, there may be some variation among boxes sent during the same month.
LIMITED TIME DEAL: For a limited time, use coupon code YESMEOW to get your first Pet Treater Cat Pack for only $5!
Value Breakdown: At $12.99 per month for this subscription, you are paying approximately $3.25 per item.
