Oui Fresh October 2018 Review

You'll find an info card that doubles as a print and lists all of the items, plus where you can buy more of them.

Oui Fresh Hydrating Lipstick in Buffy - Estimated Retail Value $20.00 (other colors linked)

This first item is a Oui Fresh- brand lipstick in the shade "Buffy" and wow, do I love it. I've gotten their lipsticks in the past and have to say that I prefer them to their lip glosses. The formula is super creamy and hydrating even though it doesn't stay put as well as brands that may not do the same. The case is a sleek black with simple white polka dots and their brand name with the hue labeled at the bottom. The color has a great pigment but isn't incredibly bold and overbearing like some of my liquid matte lipsticks. This pinkish-cranberry hut is the perfect transition to fall and I'll be wearing it all year round.

Johnny Concert Amplified Eyeshadow in Skull - Retail Value $15.00

I've been dabbling in more eyeshadows lately but sadly this one is not for me. It looks more silver on their site but looks more like a super glittery white to me in person. I gravitate more towards matte shades than shimmery ones and this one just brought too much attention to my eyes. They sparkle enough as it is, darn it! 😉 This had good pigment, but I'll be passing it along to a pal.

The Takesumi Detox Charcoal Deodorant in Sakura Blossom, travel size - Retail Value $10.00

As I've mentioned before, natural deodorants seem to be everywhere lately. I try and try to leave my aluminum big brand antiperspirant but nothing can keep me as dry and smelling as nice as them. I used this charcoal one for a couple of days and the sakura blossom scent was really pleasant. It seemed to be working, but this past weekend it all of a sudden failed me big time and left me pretty stinky. The included "detox" literature does mention that there will be a transitional period while my body adjusts from being blocked with aluminum but I'm not sure I can go through the 2-4 week process to find out. It also suggested an additional product for extra-sweaty people like me so that may be a missing puzzle piece. I was excited to have this cute travel size too, but it wasn't a match for my intense armpits. 🙁 Maybe another time I'll feel more prepared to embark on this journey, but it isn't quite right at this moment.

Organical Botanical Palo Santo Black Tourmaline Smudge Spray - Retail Value $22.00

This is probably my favorite item of the box this month. Palo Santo smells so darn good and having it in spray form is nice for when I don't want to light any wood pieces to smudge my space. This mixture contains structured (sacred geometry) water, organic rosewater, amber tincture, wildcrafted palo santo, organic lavender, and black tourmaline. I've been spraying this in my office daily to get the stressful energy that I tend to put out and "raise positive vibrations", as suggested. I think between this and the Sade I'm listening to, I'll get through the week and stressful holidays ahead!

Aeria Ski Organic Brightening & Soothing Eye Mask - Retail Value $5.00 (found here for $3.49)

Every time I think I've seen it all, I'm proven wrong. I've never seen a sheet mask just for the eye area like this one, but this is such a perfect one for the Halloween season since it looks like a masquerade ball mask. It's also a black charcoal rayon mask instead of a standard white one. It feels soothing and is made especially for the delicate eye area. The smell is pretty pleasant but still has a slight "hand sanitizer" scent that is common in sheet masks. This will be a nice way to detox after partying and eating candy.

Here are swatches for the eyeshadow and lipstick.

Verdict: I'm pretty pleased with this month's Oui Fresh Beauty Box! The lipstick and palo santo spray were my faves with the mask being a fun treat. The eyeshadow was a miss for me and the charcoal deodorant will have to wait another day for me to dive into the whole detox I'll need to. Overall, this box has a value of $72.00 which is great for a $36.99 price.

So, for natural deodorant you really have to stick with it to see results. It took about a month without aluminium for me to be stink free. It does work better than regular deodorant, but it takes a bit for your body to adjust.

Every few days I would use a charcoal based mask on my armpits, and that helped a ton – since it pulls a lot of the yuck.

Since I’ve switched over completely, I almost never smell and I live in Florida. I have struggled with stinky pits forever, so it’s a huge, positive change.

Definitely worth it if you put in the time – but aluminum-free is basically useless if you are switching between that and your regular deodorant.

Well, that’s really comforting to know it does work with time!! Thanks, Jackie! I do want to take the plunge but I’m not sure when to do so! Maybe the winter is best?

I second this! I switched about two years ago and I’m thrilled I did. The detox is a little strange (do it over a long winter weekend) but well worth it. 😊

I like the look of the lipstick. Sadly the eye shadow looks more like a highlighter.
