Gwynnie Bee September 2018 Review

This review is of the one item at a time for three items that I received between September 1st through the 22nd.

Printed Keyhole Blouson Dress in Patina by Nine West, Size 18W - Retail Value $22

I had closeted this dress last year and I am glad to finally get to try it on! I saw my friend, Allysse Dalesandro of Ready to Stare, in this dress for a blog post some time ago and it reconfirmed how much I needed to closet this item. The dress is made from a stretch Jersey material, which I absolutely love! I feel like I am one of the few that appreciates Jersey material, but I appreciate how it hugs the figure. I also like the mock turtleneck on this piece along with the killer combo of the deep teal against the rust with black and white accents. This dress can be worn all year round, just add black tights, booties, and a black biker jacket in cooler months! Wear it in the summer with black open toe wedges. This dress is currently on deep discount and I am strongly considering giving it a forever home.

Lace Aqua Shift Dress by Gabby Skye, Size 20W - Retail Value Unavailable

I don’t even remember closeting this dress to be honest! I assume I must have picked it months ago during the summer months. This dress is a bit out of season for fall, but the seafoam color is still rather lovely. This is the perfect dress to wear to a spring wedding or formal event. The dress consists of intricate seafoam lace overlay with a stretchy, nude underlay. I am in full on fall mode and pressed the return button before writing down the price, guys! Sorry for that!

Fit and Flare Dress in Rose Violet by Rebel Wislon X Angels, Size 18W - Retail Value $69.50

This is another dress I don’t recall closeting, but hey, I am open to anything! I usually don’t wear a lot of fuscia or hot pink items, but I do appreciate how it looks against my orange hair! This piece is meant to be for summer, but the fabric is rather thick and warm! Don’t wear this dress on an 80 degree day, you will be sweltering! Another tip: I also have found that with the Rebel Wilson line it is crucial to look at the measurements. I generally size down to an 18 for an ideal fit. This dress has limited stretch due to the defined waistline. I opted to style this dress with silver flats and accessories from my most recent Pinup in a Pack review!

Verdict: I love Gwynnie Bee, but I am still baffled as to why I got so many summer pieces this time around. It is officially Fall and I am in full on mustard yellow and velvet everything mode. Otherwise, my love for Gwynnie Bee still remains! I love that I can try styles and brands I may never have if I had to buy them outright. Gwynnie Bee is also ideal for people in between sizes or looking for pieces for work or a special occasions. The fact that you can closet pieces you choose yourself is also something I appreciate. I also love the fact that Gwynnie Bee offers free shipping, returns, and dry cleaning. It will take a lot for me to fall out of love with Gywnnie Bee!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! All three pieces are available to rent or purchase at Gwynnie Bee.

Value Breakdown: Gwynnie Bee’s costs range depending on your subscription and how many items you are sent at a time. I have the $95 three item at a time plan. This includes free shipping and returns. I can get as many pieces as I like monthly, as long as I return each item first. I got three items this month, but I could get several pieces sent to me in a month’s time if I return each piece after wearing promptly. Two of the pieces I reviewed retailed at $91.50, I do not have the cost for the Gabby Skye. That is roughly $3.50 less than my subscription for the two dresses. Imagine the value if I had returned these pieces and received even more!

Gwynnie Bee sends you what’s in your queue. It’s up to you to edit your queue for the seasons. I have been a subscriber for almost 3 years, and I go through every month or so and remove stuff that’s out of season or has bad reviews. It’s not a curated box — you pick what you want and they send it to you.

Thanks for clarifying. I was wondering if I could choose the clothes myself.

By the way, Fall officially starts on September 22nd this year, the day before my birthday:-)

Everything, as always, looks amazing on you! You look like a professional model. Gorgeous!

Nicole Rieder

Awe shucks! Thank you, TK! That means a lot.

Steph

Buy that first dress!!! I agree that you’d be an amazing model for a site like Modcloth!

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Thank you, Steph! I did actually buy that dress since I have no chill and I got so many compliments on it! As for Modcloth, I would love that!

Nichole

You really should be a model. Are you? Do you do any catalogue work? You should be, for example, ModCloth’s go-to. Your coloring and aura have a way of making everything you try on look like they were made for you!!

Nicole Rieder

Nichole, thank you so much! I do modeling here and there, but I would certainly be game for that. I love Modcloth!

Rebecca

I wish they offered smaller sizes. I love these dresses. I’m more on the 0-1 size range but you look absolutely beautiful in these dresses.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Rebecca, they actually do! GB offers 0-32. Try them out!

I loved the Gabby Skye light blue dress on you! Gabby Skye is a brand I discovered through Gwynnie Bee – I think I’ve bought about 2 dresses from them now?

It’s pretty easy to get off-season items from Gwynnie Bee if you still have them in your closet but haven’t put them on hold. The items you get are generally based on what is available – it’s less likely to get popular items, so off-season items are going to be more available. This can be an advantage as I’ve found if I *deliberately* closet something off-season that I hope to try to buy, I’m more likely to get it. Plus, item prices are affected by popularity – so off-season items often end up cheaper as well!

But like Kim recommended, going through your closet and moving stuff to hold every so often is a good idea to avoid getting pieces you aren’t interested in for the moment.

Nicole Rieder

Totally. I usually go through it and remove stuff periodically, especially with my priority pieces. Just missed those somehow.

Literally everything looks good on you, Nicole! When I saw the lace dress my first thought was, “I hope she has a wedding to attend!” It’s so pretty and looks amazing with your coloring. I get that it’s probably not seasonally appropriate where you live. Where I am it would be too hot for summer but perfect for this time of year. Definitely keep the 9 West dress. It’s very you. Also, do you mind sharing where you got the silver flats? Been looking for some like that. Thanks!

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Thanks, AmyM! I have a wedding in November, but I have a few dresses for that I can choose from to wear depending on weather. The silver flats are a target find! I got them a few months ago for $6!

Bonnie

I hate the seafoam, but that’s not because of you. I just hate stuff like that – it looks fussy and uncomfortable. I prefer a more effortless cool. That said, the other two are amazing on you!

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Thanks, Bonnie! Yeah, it definitely would work best in early Spring. I feel it would be too hot to wear outside in scorching hot months like July and August.

Reply ButtonReply

Noelle L

It was 90 degrees every day where I live until about 2 weeks ago..You could have worn those here in So. Cali…! Loved the fuchsia and Nine West on you. And actually the lacey dress was so pretty but I can see that it is a limited wearing piece (a wedding maybe?)….

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Noelle, it has been very muggy and hot here too. But honestly, that pink dress is heavy. I wouldn’t wanna wear it in the humid 80 degree weather we have had. My internal clock still knows it is fall and doesn’t want to wear fuscia. Bring on the orange and yellows! Hahaha

One thing I learned when I had this subscription is that they will send anything you have closeted, regardless of season. I believe there is a way to pause an item or save it for later, or you can remove out of season items. I definitely recommend going through all your saved items and making sure you’re still interested every few months.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Kim H, oh yeah, totally. They once sent me a sweater dress in April or May. I was just amused and legit didn’t remember ever closeting eirher. Hahaha

MicheleDeG

Keep the Nine West dress! It looks fabulous on you and is a steal for that price!! I also think the seafoam dress 👗 looks great on you as well. Out of season, but you should revisit it in the spring.

Reply ButtonReply

LorieLynn

Keep the blue/gray dress. It looks great on you and at $22 you can’t go wrong

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole Rieder

Thanks! I have it on at work and have received quite a few compliments!
