Bulu Box (Weight Loss Version) October 2018 Review
There are box variations, and sometimes rather heavy product promotion, so you may not always get the same box as someone else or be able to make the connection to weight loss for each product:

There was also some product literature. Sometimes this relates to items in the box and sometimes it does not.
Nasopure Nasal Wash (bottle + premixed salt packets) – Buy 1 bottle and 20 salt packets for $12.95
I already use a similar product almost every day so I was happy to see this. You are supposed to replace your nasal rinse bottles every 90 days or so and it was about time for a new one for me. This is a little different from what I am used to because you hold the bottle differently and the part that touches your nose is also changed compared to my current product. I can see how this bottle design allows you to get every last bit of water out, which is actually an improvement over what I use right now. I found the experience otherwise quite similar to other nasal rinses I’ve done. (I have bad allergies all year so I use something like this on most days.) Anyway, this is probably the most useful item for me from this box, at least at this time of year.
Note: I also received this last month, but I’m not complaining because it is a type of product I already use and now I don’t need to buy replacements for a while.
Rx Nut Butter Vanilla Almond Butter (1.13 oz) – Buy 10 Packs for $21.99
This product showed up in at least three subscription boxes at my house this month. And I got it last month. And the month before. Almost always the vanilla almond butter. It tastes OK but I am not sold on the texture. I think it’s the egg whites. I do eat eggs but I’m not sure egg whites are the best ingredient to add texture to a nut butter. They’d be better in a bar or a chip or something.
This product was also in the regular version of Bulu Box this month.
RxBar Chocolate Sea Salt (1.83 oz) – Buy a Variety Pack of 12 Bars for $27.50
These are getting a big push in local stores lately; I’ve seen them prominently displayed at both Whole Foods and Target. Although they are largely dates and nuts, they don’t have quite the texture I am used to from date and nut bars, probably because of the egg whites, which make them hold together a little better but also make them kind of sticky. I do like this chocolate flavor better than some of the other flavors I’ve tried.

Fermented Green Supremefood (7g) – Buy a 30-Day Supply for $39.99
Fermentation is popular right now in health foods because of its relationship to gut bacteria. I don’t know that I believe the probiotics and enzymes in this product are going to have much effect (they’ll probably break down in stomach acid) but I do like to add greens and/or vegetable powders to my smoothies for some of the vitamins and minerals, and this is a perfectly acceptable product for that purpose – it doesn’t noticeably alter the taste or texture of the smoothie.
This product was also in the regular version of Bulu Box this month.
Abundant Earthmint 100% Peppermint Oil – Buy 0.5 oz for $20
This little guy fell out of the card and I had to go digging through the tissue paper in the box to find it, so if your card looks empty, you probably actually did get this! It is peppermint oil and can be used in a diffuser (what I did) or diluted with an appropriate carrier to be used in making homemade beauty products. (The website associated with this product is, um, interesting. In an unorganized, stream-of-consciousness sort of way. You can order up some psychotherapy and some peppermint oil in the same place…)
Aminovital Rapid Recovery (1 serving) – Buy 14 Packs for $24.99
I have received this product in other subscription boxes as well. It is plant-based, which is great (I can have it!). It is low in sugar which is nice for a product of this type, and it is caffeine free which is important since I work out at night. It does have some electrolytes (including potassium and calcium) as well as some branched chain amino acids (which help with delayed onset muscle soreness). It has a decent flavor (I’m not so sold on the stevia but I can overlook that here) but it does have 60 calories and that’s the only thing stopping me from buying this in full size (I don’t like to drink my calories.)
Aminovital Action (1 serving) – Buy 14 Packs for $24.99
I’ve had this before, too. As with the one above (and I forgot to mention this earlier), first, try it out by diluting to half the recommended strength; I often find the flavors of products like this too strong and that is true here, as well. Whereas the other product is meant for after exercise, this is meant for during exercise, and it is also caffeine free (I don’t like using stimulants when I work out since I am on blood pressure medicine already). This one only has 15 calories per serving and that is something I can totally do. Although I do wish this came with more than 14 servings and was scoopable instead of in packets since the individual packets seem like wasteful packaging.
Verdict: There were 7 samples this month. If you paid the $9.99 full price for this subscription, you paid about $1.43 each. I was pleased that everything was vegetarian this month as that is not always the case. However, I was disappointed that I have received pretty much every item in this box either from Bulu Box this month in the regular box or in a past month, or from another subscription box. One reason to try a sample box like this is discovery and you can’t really discover something when you’ve had it a couple of times before. (On the other hand, if you only to subscribe to one version of Bulu Box, you’re less likely to receive repeats.)
I’d strongly recommend using our MYSUB799 coupon code when you subscribe and choosing either the regular or the weight loss box, but not both since there is a lot of product repetition between the two.
