Bonjour Jolie September 2018 "Fall Festival" Review

They included this info sheet which gave some information on a few of the items in the box, although I didn't receive the Bigelow Seasonal tea that was listed at the bottom. A bummer, but there were plenty of other items in the box to distract me!

Alright! Let's start with the goods! The theme for this month is Fall Festival and all of my menstrual products came discreetly wrapped in this super cute leaf bag.

When you sign up, you can choose up to 20 different menstrual products in any combination of tampons, pads, and liners. They offer a great selection of items from brands like Always, Kotex, and OB. You can check their selection out before you commit though, in case you are someone who has a preferred brand.

Tampax Always Radiant Tampons in Regular (12)- Buy 16 for $3.99

Kotex Long Liners (3) - Buy 16 for $0.99 (I think these are it, but they aren't labeled!)

Always Infinity Overnight Pads (8) - Buy 28 for $6.99

This month I received 12 tampons, three pantyliners, and eight pads, (three were to make up for the missing pads from last month which is great since it means customer service followed through!). You can change your selections at any time by editing your profile.

I love the fall feel of this box and that they took the time to put several items in their own little bags. Such a nice touch!

GoodWipes Down There Wipes in Lavender and Shea-Cocoa (1 each) - Buy 30 for $7.99

I think the name speaks for itself, and these 100% flushable and biodegradable wipes are good for those moments when you might want to freshen up!

Advil to Go Packs (2) –  Buy 50 packets for $9.48

These little packets each have two pills, just enough to help with cramps or headaches while on the go.

Manna Kadar Glo Illuminator - Retail Value $29

This is a new MK product for me, and I've received a few that I love, so I was intrigued by this glo illuminator. The tube is a beautiful pearlescent pink and the formula itself looks the same, but it is much thinner than I would have expected. It definitely does not have the feel of a $29 product.

The shade was really pretty but so faint. When I rubbed it in, you could barely see it, so I ended up doing a new swatch below and not blending it in very well so you could see the color. Then I did a nice thick line over my first swatch just so you could see the formula a bit better (if you look closely you can see my first swatch underneath). This might be great if you want a really subtle, natural glow. This can be mixed in with your BB cream or foundation for an all-over glow. It's just a little too subtle for me, though. Handmade Falling Leaves Necklace by Texas Recycled Works - Listed Value $14

This necklace came with a coupon for 20% off at Texas Recycled Works, but the expiration date was October 1, which was the date I received this box. As if that weren't bad enough, when I tried to go to the website, it looks like it is no longer in service. Oops.

While that is a bit frustrating, the necklace itself is really cute, perfect for fall and seems like the pieces are well-made. I love that the chain is a completely different metal than the pieces and that the leaves are so different from each other. This really feels like a piece of recycled artwork. Definitely my style!

I really loved the way this looked with the green shirt that I happened to be wearing. This is a perfect fall piece.

Note: I am wearing the Manna Kadar Glo Illuminator on my cheeks here. I have no other makeup on here, so you can see how subtle the glow is.

The Bomb Gals Harvest Festival Body Wash in Pumpkin Spice (8 oz) - Retail Value $12

In keeping with the fall theme, I received this pumpkin spice body wash. Subscribers could have also received this in Apple Cider. This is all natural, vegan, cruelty-free as well as free from sulfates, parabens, phthalates, petrolatum, and phosphates. The scent is really mild, which is good because while I love pumpkin everything as much as the next girl, I'm not so sure I want to smell like one! This was nice and creamy and left my skin feeling clean with just a faint scent of spice.

Sheila G's Brownie Brittle in Salted Caramel - Buy 20 for $19.80 (found on sale here for $17.09)

I am a fan of brownie brittle and this salted caramel flavor is great for a fall treat! The little bits of caramel were just sticky and sweet enough to enhance the crunchy, chocolatey flavor. Yum!

Perdido Bay Sweets Vegan Chocolate Covered Sea Salt Caramels - Listed Value $9.99

These are the type of decadent treat that I crave during my special time of the month! These had a nice, thick, chewy caramel center surrounded by a light layer of chocolate and a hefty dose of sea salt on the top that really brought out the caramel flavor. They were a great size too at about a one-inch square each.

They were so delicious...and yes, I do mean were, because I have no self-control! In addition to being vegan, these are made with coconut milk and agave, yet they were still full of flavor.

Verdict: What a fun Bonjour Jolie box! Maybe it's because fall is my favorite season, but I just loved the curation of the box this month! Leaves, pumpkins, caramels, all of those fall things that I love and can never get enough of this time of year. This box included just the right mix to keep me feeling good and pampered at the time when I need it most. While I didn't receive the listed tea and there was that weird thing with the coupon/website for the necklace, those things didn't really take away from the overall experience of this box at all. This is such a convenient service and this company seems very willing to customize your box and meet your needs whether it's allergens or just personal preferences, which is awesome. We paid $24.48 ($16.50 + $0.99 tax + $6.99 shipping) for this month's box and I estimate the total value of everything to be about $71.93 which is great! Even though I had to go by listed values for a few items, they all felt reasonable and were worth the wonderfully festive curation.

While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

I’m glad to see this being reviewed again! Doesn’t seem like it’s changed much over the years except maybe less snacks? Though $9 chocolates is pretty steep so maybe that’s why. Also it’s nice to know they’re still including tea, even though they didn’t come in this particular box?

I like you can customize the products you get, but I do wish they’d just send you a sealed package of whatever as that seems to be on par with what other period boxes have been doing for a while now.
