Birchbox The Skincare Made Easy Kit Review

Skincare made easy info sheet

Here is the info sheet detailing the products included.

Skincare made easy hum Skincare made easy hum 2

HUM Nutrition Glow Sweet Glow Gummies, 2 gummies – Estimated Value $0.83 (buy a 60 gummy bottle for $25)

It takes a month of use before these gummies are really going to give results, so this one day's supply doesn't do much except tell me that I liked the orange flavor and could commit to eating them once a day without hating the way they taste. In theory, this will boost skins moisture levels and help provide protection against damaging UV light, stress, and pollution. I would love to know what our resident chemist, Ragan, has to say about these claims- so if you’re reading, please chime in!

Skincare made easy bioderma

Bioderma® Sensibio H2O Make-Up Removing Micelle Solution, 3.3 oz – Estimated Value $2.89 (buy the 17 oz version for $14.90)

I love micellar waters and this is another great one (has anyone ever had a bad micellar water?). It is gentle and it literally feels like I am wiping my face with a plain water cotton pad, and yet when I am done there is dirt, grime, and general stuff off of my face and on the cotton. I have been using this on the mornings I don’t shower, and it really helps my face to be clean and soothed and ready for my morning skincare routine.

Skincare made easy avene

Avène Cleanance Cleansing Gel, 0.6 oz – Estimated Value $1.79 (buy the 6.7 oz version for $20)

I found this cleanser to be light and gentle while still leaving my face feeling clean, and it didn’t cause havoc on my acne-prone skin. I also got to feel real fancy using a cleanser made with French thermal water, so that was nice.

Skincare made easy sand

Sand & Sky Australian Pink Clay Flash Perfection Exfoliating Treatment, 0.45 oz – Estimated Value $5.68 (buy the 3.4 oz version for $42.90)

This exfoliation treatment is part mask, part regular exfoliator. You apply it to clean, damp skin and leave it on for five minutes before massaging away and rinsing. I found the exfoliation to be thorough without being too aggressive, and the kaolin clay and grape seed oil helped my skin to look more clear and bright after using.

Skincare made easy coola

COOLA® Classic Moisturizer SPF 30 in Cucumber, 0.24 oz – Estimated Value $4.52 (buy the 1.7 oz version for $32)

I think this is a bit of a classic Birchbox sample, as I have tried it numerous times over the years. I am not bothered, however, because this is one of my favorite sunscreen samples to use! It is a lightweight moisturizer that also provides SPF 30 protection, and it sinks in quickly and would work well under makeup if necessary.

Skincare made easy ptr

PETER THOMAS ROTH Water Drench™ Hyaluronic Cloud Cream, 0.25 oz – Estimated Value $8.13 (buy the 1.6 oz version for $52)

This oil, fragrance, and alcohol-free moisturizer packs a large punch of hydration thanks to a formula that is 30% concentrated hyaluronic acid! This is also packed with skin-loving ceramides and elderberry, and it is designed to provide a ton of moisture while still having the consistency of a water-gel compared to a heavier cream. This sinks in quickly, and it should work well for both dry and oily skin.

Skincare made easy kiehls

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Eye, 0.1 oz – Estimated Value $7.40 (buy the 0.5 oz version for $37)

I love Kiehl’s! Their products are almost always gentle, effective, and packed with great ingredients. This eye cream is fragrance, mineral oil, paraben, and silicone-free, and it has a lovely (but very faint) lavender scent thanks to the lavender essential oil that is in this. This is great for both puffiness and dark circles, and while puffiness isn’t an issue I have this really helped with some dark circles that have been on my face constantly over the past few weeks.

Skincare made easy sunday

Sunday Riley Good Genes All-in-One Lactic Acid Treatment, 0.17 oz – Estimated Value $15.80 (buy the 1.7 oz version for $158)

Oh, Sunday Riley, how I love you so. This holy-grail status lactic acid treatment is designed to exfoliate (thanks to the lactic acid dissolving dead skin cells), brighten (thanks to the licorice), and glow, all without irritation thanks to the aloe. I recommend following with a strong moisturizer after using this, but my skin always looks noticeably different the day after using this product. I have definitely seen enough great results to justify purchasing the full-size version, however, I just can't afford to due to my current status as a broke law student. Getting this sample in a $22 box, on the other hand, is much more my style!

Skincare made easy acure

Acure Radically Rejuvenating™ Sheet Mask – Retail Value $4.99

This sheet mask is designed to provide instant moisture, nourishment, and radiance thanks to ingredients like argan oil, vitamin C, and hyaluronic acid. I found it to be comfortable to wear, and after 15 minutes it didn’t leave my skin sticky and the remaining serum absorbed instantly. I do think my skin looked brighter after wearing, but my face has been especially lackluster as of late.

The Verdict: I loved this discovery kit! It had a great array of skincare products that should work for a variety of skin concerns, and I love that such a pricy Sunday Riley sample was included! Birchbox promised a value of $56 this kit, and they did come up a few dollars short with a total value of $51.23. That is still almost double the cost of the box plus shipping, and the Kiehl’s and Sunday Riley definitely makes this box worth the cost to me.

The Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if I sign up today? Yes, as of publication, this box is still available!

Coupon - Check out all the free gift with purchase coupons, and don't forget to add your free sample pack with any $35 purchase.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $22 + $5 shipping and I calculated a value of $51.23. That means you are paying approximately the following per item:

  • Hum Gummies: $0.44
  • Bioderma Micellar Water: $1.52
  • Avene Cleansing Gel: $0.94
  • Sand & Sky Exfoliating Treatment: $2.99
  • Coola Moisturizing Sunscreen: $2.38
  • Peter Thomas Roth Cloud Cream: $4.28
  • Kiehl’s Eye: $3.90
  • Sunday Riley: $8.33
  • Acure Mask: $2.63

If they didn’t charge shipping I would buy from Birchbox all the time. I want this kit but shipping costs always talks me out of it!

Lol. I made enough purchases awhile back in groups large enough to get free shipping to reach Ace status. So now I get free shipping and buy enough in little amounts (as you said) to maintain my status. I’m stuck in the loop of constant spend!! Haha.
