BarkBox customizes your box to your dog’s size. For reference, this review is for the small size (our dog weighs 14 pounds). Check out Ragan’s recent review of the super chewer box!

October 2018 Barkbox Review

This month’s toy and treat selection is not the only fun part – even the packaging is fun and unique:

You’ll find the ‘Wee Wee Board’ inner lining – you’ll also find this:

Use it to find the Ghost Squirrels in the lining – fun!

While I’m having fun with the lining, Buckles is already digging in.

Ralph Hits The Road – Value $5

The first of two toys is a squeaker-filled roadkill toy.

It has fluffy parts and flat parts – perfect for Buckles’ smaller mouth. He played with this for a bit, but didn’t love it as much as this toy:

Scary Squirrely Skull – Value $6

This toy is a unique little tug-of-war plush toy.

The squirrels can slide back and forth – and of course, it has squeakers and crinkly filling!

Buckles played with this one a little more than the other one – he liked tossing it around.

The Snackening: Beef and Turkey – Value $8

These are our current go-to office treats for Buckles – and he is loving them! Most importantly, they’re wheat, corn, and soy free – and after Buckles had a little ear infection flare up, we’ve gone back to a much more strict treat diet and it has cleared up.

Buckles is doing his best werewolf impression for Halloween.

They’re perfectly bite-sized and soft. I couldn’t ask for more!

The Snackening: Bacon and Pumpkin – Value $8

BarkBox continues their cute little ‘Snackening’ line with much smaller training treats.

These also tick all of the checkmarks for us, and they are tiny enough to be the perfect little training treat.

Jones Soft Chicken Link – Value $3

The final item is a natural chew – sourced and made in the USA. I didn’t plan of giving this to him, but he took it upon himself to dig into the box and take it – plastic and all:

After fighting this off of him, I removed a piece from the plastic and he absolutely LOVED it. He’s finished this off over the course of a few days.

Verdict: This month was a huge, 5-for-5, success! Typically, our dog doesn’t like the rawhide chews, so the fact that the fifth item was something that he could eat really put if over-the-top for us!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Customer care let us know that your first box will now always be either their Welcome Box or the current month’s box, followed by the normal schedule the following month.

COUPON: Get a free extra month when you sign up for a 6 or 12 month subscription (SUBADDICTION) or $10 Barkshop credit (ADDICTION) any new BarkBox Subscription. Barkshop credit code emailed 3-5 business days after purchase with coupon code SUBADDICTION or ADDICTION

  1. The pictures make this review!!

  2. My dogs LOVE barkbox and frankly I love how cute it is- the wee wee board was brilliant. I do the super chew and find the toys really durable!

    • I did the super chewer box for about a year and liked it too but now my dog “graduated” to the regular box as he’s grown up and gotten more lazy/respectful of his toys. LOL. He actually started getting bored with the ones he had zero chance of destroying. But the stuffies in the regular box are also very well made and durable! I’ve only had one casualty so far and it took at least a day (any other stuffed item used to only last literally 10 minutes). I’m super impressed and happy…and so is my dog.

  3. I love the photo of Buckles holding onto the chicken link! Bet it took some effort to get that from him! Adorable.
Looks like a great box this month.

  4. Buckles is the cutest! My parents dog (Cavalier, so medium small around 18lbs) has a slightly misaligned jaw and while he loves hoarding and lying on top of rawhide chews it takes him ages to eat one.

He loves Earth Animal “no hide” chicken chews, which are made from chicken with some other stuff like banana and brown rice flour (wheat corn and soy free) and are easily digested and chewed. Buckles may like them as well!
