August 2018 “Beach Day” Woof Pack Review

Before we dig in, I thought I would officially introduce my sweet boy, Murray. He is a seven-year-old Corgi-Maltese mix, a Gemini, and a true blue companion. He lives for barking at the unknown, going on walks, trolling/herding his dad and snuggling.

The August Woof Pack box has a Beach Day theme; the info card beach illustration is adorable! The back has all of the box contents listed as well as possible variations in other boxes.

All For Paws Lifeguard Shark – Retail Value $10.28, Listed Price $22.99 CAD

This toy has two detachable parts: a polyester shark and a squeaky rubber ring (that floats!). Lifeguard shark floats in his squeaky lifesaver to “save your dog from boredom.” Love it! Heavier rubber toys freak Murray out, and as you can see in the photo, he isn’t thrilled about having it propped up against him. Murray isn’t much of a swimmer, but he warmed up to the shark part of this toy far away from any water.

Zippy Paws Corgi With Hawaiian Shorts

Zippy Paws Corgi With Hawaiian Shorts – Retail Value $7.99 USD

This quirky Corgi won all of our hearts immediately with his cool-guy sunglasses and sweet Hawaiian boardshorts. He has one large squeaker in the middle of his long, pudgy torso and a tail that sticks out of his shorts, a perfect handle for dragging him around and shaking him about. Murray went right for this one, but he was really feeling himself during our photo shoot (check out those poses!). #twinning?

Great Jacks Liver and Natural Seaweed Soft Treats 7.04oz – Retail Value $9.99 (Found here for $6.99)

These chewy treats are sourced and made in Canada, containing mostly pork liver and organic sea kelp. They are the perfect size for Murray (he is 21lbs) for rewards, and they have less than 1.5 calories per bite. Sometimes Mur has an issue with chomping on a treat once and swallowing it, but these are big enough that he has to actually chew them to swallow (less risk of choking). The bag is a generous size, and I’d definitely consider buying these in the future.

Hero Dog Treats Sweet Potato Dehydrated Treats 75g

Hero Dog Treats Sweet Potato Dehydrated Treats 75g – Listed Price $6.89 ($8.99 CAD)

One thing Murray and I have in common: we both LOVE sweet potatoes. He is a fiend! When I pulled one of these out of the bag for him, his eyes went googly, and he wouldn’t stop jumping all over me, trying to kiss me! These dehydrated treats are all natural, having no chemicals or preservatives. I will definitely scour the internet to see if I can find a US site to purchase these, or I’ll have to mimic these somehow because he just devoured them!

Barnsdale Farms Beef Backstrap 8 inches – Listed Price $3.06 ($3.99 CAD)

This beef chew was definitely Murray’s favorite treat from the box. Since he’s just a little guy, I just let him chew it for a few minutes at a time, but if he had his way, he’d be belly up, chewing on this backstrap all day long! He only indulges on treats like this once a week, otherwise, his digestive system goes a little awry. I didn’t notice anything daunting after he finished this treat over the course of a few days, so this one gets an A from both of us!

Verdict: Murray LOVES Woof Pack! For $31 a month including free shipping, we received an estimated $38.21 worth of products. We were both impressed with the quality of the toys and treats included and can’t wait to see what next month’s theme is.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the September box.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $31 + free shipping, which means that each of the 5 items in the box has an average cost of $6.20.

Abby has been a box enthusiast since July 2011, finding her calling with Birchbox. That was the start of a new era for Abby, because she is now hooked on the subscription box life; she loves the idea of receiving (several) thoughtful treats from genius curators such as Lisa Sugar and Rachel Zoe. A few other loves of hers would be her dog named Bill Murray, Bill Murray and chocolate babka.

  1. FYI I buy those sweet potato things at TJ Maxx, Burlington, and Marshalls all the time. They are a big hit in my house too.

  5. Seems like a cute box and pretty much on par with the cost of other dog boxes. Would love to see some sort of coupon as that seems to be the tipping point for me to try a box if I am interested in it…

  6. Murray should definitely do more reviews. You and he did a great job with the poses 🙂

    • Haha, thank you! He is an easy model to work with, AND he works for treats! 😉
