Stitch Fix Kids September 2018 Review
In every Stitch Fix Kids box, they include a pre-paid shipping envelope for returns and information sheets.
Here's the item list of the clothing they selected for my son, and their individual prices. The items total $212 but with my $20 styling fee applied, and the keep-everything 25% off discount, the total adds up to be only $139.
I thought it was cute that the information sheet had a maze on it for your kid, plus the inside flaps of the shipping box have some activities and ideas for how to play with the box, too!
The reverse of that card shows photos of each item (which I love because it makes it easy to reference the pricing sheet!).
TOMS Lenny Mid Top Sneakers size 9, Brown - Cost to Keep: $44
These sneakers are perfect! They have the quality I expect from a brand like TOMS, and the color is versatile to go with every outfit. The size 9 is finally the right size for Gideon, and a perfect fit with socks and a bit of room to grow. I think I should probably treat this leather so it'll be okay getting wet in the winter.
Hollywood the Jean People Gavin Graphic Tee, Beige - Cost to Keep: $14
This dinosaur tee is cute, especially with the googly eyes. My son liked it, but I worry about washability and how well it will hold up long-term, so this went back.
Hollywood the Jean People Ayden Pull Up Denim Jeans - Cost to Keep: $24
These jeans are just too cute! I love the monster decals, especially because Gideon's shower and nursery were decorated with cute little monsters. The jeans are pull-on which is what seems to work best for him these days because he's tall and many jeans that have the right length are too big in the waist. The length on these is good, too - he'll have room to grow a couple inches. The quality's definitely there, too!
Rumi + Ryder the Classic Short Sleeve Graphic Tee - Cost to Keep: $16
Space! We love space over here. The graphic is also glow-in-the-dark! I am really pleased with this tee, especially because the fit is perfect. Maybe it's because it's an XXS boys instead of a 3 toddler, but the shoulder width and sleeve and torso lengths hit him in the right places and won't show his stomach when lifting his arms or playing.
Andy & Evan Danny Short Sleeve Graphic Pocket Tee - Cost to Keep: 14
This shirt was the softest in the whole box, and I like the landmarks and hot air balloons in the graphic. Unfortunately, when I tried to put it on Gideon, the neck didn't fit over his head. I think the neck has zero stretch to it. Oh well.
Adriano Goldschmied Kids Rory Kangaroo Pull-Over Hoodie - Cost to Keep: $26
This hoodie is another keeper. The color is neutral and great for fall, and the fit was perfect! This would be a great layer for Fall.
NASA Short Sleeve Graphic Tee - Cost to Keep: $14
More space! This tee is fine but as you'll see in the photos below, it's just too short for Gideon.
Warp + Weft Ams Slim Stretch Denim Pants - Cost to Keep: $28
I was amazed to put these button-and-fly jeans on Gideon and have them fit so well! I was also impressed with the construction. My only (minor) gripe is that the length just fits him, so when he grows at all, these won't work. I don't think they'd last through the season for us. But I'm happy to know there are jeans for him out there that aren't pull-on that will work for him.
Flapdoodles Fundamental Sports Graphic Tee - Cost to Keep: $12
Flapdoodles is a brand I've been introduced to and come to learn through Stitch Fix. This fabric was thin but so soft, and the pattern and colors go along well with most of what he already has.
Flapdoodles Jeremy Fundamental Star Jogger - Cost to Keep: $20
Every pair of joggers Stitch Fix has sent us have fit just right and have been the softest articles of clothing I have ever felt. Joggers like this will be perfect for play days as the weather dips a little. I really wanted to keep these, but I just don't think they'd pair well with most of his shirts. I think I'd reach for a solid more often.
The Verdict: Gideon and I are having so much fun with his Stitch Fix Kids boxes! It's one of my new favorites for sure. I can definitely tell that their selection seems high-quality and their choices for Gideon are consistently spot on with our style. I felt like a broken record, saying over and over how happy I am with the fit for him from Stitch Fix's selections, even though there were very slight fit issues that I was mostly just being picky about. As far as prices go, I think they seem reasonable. Some seem a little high, but I'm really happy with the quality of everything and the way things have been washing and holding up so far, that I get it. I also like that there are so many items sent, so even if you just want to pick one item so you don't lose out on your styling fee, it's not hard to find at least one thing to love without spending much more or any more than you already have with your fee.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Stitch Fix curates its boxes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what we got, but you will probably get something that fits your child's style and size even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!
Value Breakdown: This box cost $20 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $194. The invoice lists the cost of each item next to it, but if I keep all 5 items, then I get a 25% discount. The $20 styling fee for the box is applied to the purchase no matter how many items you keep, and in this case, it would bring the total down to $125.50. That’s a discount of around 35% for these items!
