S&s box

Smartass and Sass is a monthly subscription box designed for gals with a sense of humor.

(NSFW FYI – not all the contents of the box may be suitable for viewing at work. Just a heads up!)

S&s open box 1

Each month, you'll receive 4-8 awesomely irreverent items handmade by artists and small businesses. The women behind Smartass & Sass might not take themselves too seriously, but they are serious about supporting the creatives behind the items in their box and paying a fair price for their quality goods. Smartass & Sass also offers a $15.95 Shirt-only Box and $49.95 Big Box.

This is a review of the $34.95 a month box.

Smartass & Sass September 2018 "NSFWReview

S&s info sheet 1 S&s info sheet 2

This is new! Smartass & Sass usually comes with a booklet that has all the info you’ll ever need about them, but this month we received a folded card detailing the products. I think I like this design better! Each month has an overall theme and this time it’s “NSFW.”

S&s mug

Professional Chaos Coordinator Mug – Listed Value $18

I am all about receiving drinkware in subscription boxes—I somehow always manage to lose mine! I love the metallic teal color, and while I am not the biggest fan of the phrase “professional chaos coordinator,” I am happy that the design isn’t too noticeable. I do question what about this travel mug makes it $18, however.

S&s mad libs 1 S&s mad libs 2

Someecards Office Mad Libs – Retail Value $4.99

Mad libs when I was younger was the absolute best, so I am stoked to have received this office version. This would be fun to do on a break with coworkers when everyone needs a quick and easy laugh, and there are tons of sheets to last a while.

S&s mood 1 S&s mood 2 S&s mood 3

Genuine Fred The Daily Mood Desk Flip Chart – Retail Value $9

I think this is really neat! It is a flip chart that has your daily mood on it with an accompanying emoji, and the other side of the sheet has the definition, how to use it in a sentence, and how to say the word it pig latin. This has typical moods like “fabulous” and “cranky”, but it also has fancier moods like “neglected” and “copacetic.” This would be great as a conversation starter when people walk by your desk.

S&s highlighter 1 S&s highlighter 2

Sh*t To Remember Mondo Highlighter – Listed Value $2.50

I am a law student, therefore I highlight like nobody's business. Usually, I grab the free highlighters from the various brands that table in the building, but I am stoked about the cheeky saying. I do have a lot to remember, and this highlighter can help me do just that.

S&s tassle 1 S&s tassle 2 S&s tassle 3

Hurry Up Tassel Charging Cable – Listed Value $9

This came at the perfect time—My current backpack charger (not to be confused with the car charger and the home charger) is on its last legs, and this is a perfect replacement. The keychain means I can clip it easily to the clip that is in my backpack and it will be easy to find. It has the USB plugin as well as the lightning cable and the android cable, and it works well. My only complaint is that since the tassel is so short it is hard to use your phone while charging, but perhaps that is for the best since I should be paying attention in class anyway.

S&s mouse

F Word Mouse Pad – Listed Value $10

This mouse pad feels like a blast to the past for me—I work exclusively on a laptop, so I haven’t personally owned a mouse pad in ages. When I was clerking last semester, however, I used a desktop daily. This mouse pad would have fit right in with the office humor, and it is made of 50% recycled material and is antimicrobial. I haven’t purchased one of these in a while, but the $10 listed value does feel high to me.

S&s pad

Knock Knock Stuff Productive AF Pad – Retail Value $7

To-do lists are the only way I can accomplish anything meaningful, and I usually just use the Notes app on my phone. I like that this 60-sheet notepad has different columns for different things, so I can have my grocery list on one side and the list of reviews I need to write on the other! Sometimes it really just helps to put pen to paper when stuff needs to be done, and I am happy that this pad can help me be productive *af.*

S&s desk

About Face Designs Autocorrect Desk Sign – Retail Value $5.99, Listed Value $5

This cute little metal desk sign is for the inner rage in all of us that occurs when autocorrect turns a perfectly fine sentence into a mess that makes no sense. While overall I would like to keep autocorrect in my life, I still find humor in this cheerful blue desk sign.

The Verdict: I think this is my favorite box from Smartass & Sass yet! Everything included walked the perfect line of being both funny and practical, and I love that I am able to put everything to use. While I question if some of the listed values were a little inflated, overall this box has a value of $66.48 from both the listed values and retail values where applicable.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the October box. From Smartass & Sass:

Your shirt and/or box will ship on the 16th-18th of every month. Please order by the 15th to get the current shipment.

Coupon – Use code MSA10 to save 10% off your first box!

Value Breakdown: This box costs $34.95 + $6.95 shipping, which means that each of the 8 items in the box has an average cost of $5.24.

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

Ugh! Wish I could get this box. So funny–and I know people to share things with! I work in a school, so most doesn’t work for my day to day, but would have loved to gift some things!

They sale the leftover boxes on their site. They also have the individual items usually.

I’m sorry, but at the risk of being picky your math is off. I count 8 items, and if there had been 6 items the average cost would have been around $7 a piece.

Sorry for the mistake- updating now!

It’s a carryover from last month that never got updated. :\

The autocorrect sign is acrylic, and yes there were 8 items. If you count the shipping into the price it makes the items average $5.23 each. I never assume any comment pointing out inaccuracies as nitpicking since accuracy and details are important to me.

OMG I am in love with these sarcastic office products! Seriously if someone gets this sub and doesn’t want these items please find me on the swap board or message me because I want them!!!

Great review! I especially love the “mood board.” That’s a pretty typical price for a mousepad, believe it or not.
