Smartass and Sass is a monthly subscription box designed for gals with a sense of humor.
(NSFW FYI – not all the contents of the box may be suitable for viewing at work. Just a heads up!)
Each month, you'll receive 4-8 awesomely irreverent items handmade by artists and small businesses. The women behind Smartass & Sass might not take themselves too seriously, but they are serious about supporting the creatives behind the items in their box and paying a fair price for their quality goods. Smartass & Sass also offers a $15.95 Shirt-only Box and $49.95 Big Box.
This is a review of the $34.95 a month box.
My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out our review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Smartass & Sass August 2018 "Binge Betch" Review
Smartass & Sass comes with a booklet that has all the info you’ll ever need about them, and the items in the box. Each month has an overall theme and this time it’s “Binge Betch.” The S&S team polled their Facebook followers, and the most popular TV shows were chosen to inspire the products included.
Douchebag Jar - Listed Value $6
New Girl is a show I have never seen before, but apparently, the D-bag jar is used akin to a "swear" jar, only instead of putting money in when you curse it's when you act like a not great person. I don't make a habit of acting like a D-bag, but I do have a bunch of change that is currently hanging out in an old Play! by Sephora bag. I figured I might as well put this to use, so I now have a new change jar!
Daisy Store Gifts The One With All The Cards Game - Retail Value $29.99
I am a big Cards Against Humanity fan, and this Friends-inspired expansion deck definitely has the cheeky and potentially vulgar humor that the regular CAH deck has. This is not an affiliated CAH expansion deck. The deck comes with 279 cards, 99 black and 180 white. To those who haven’t played Cards Against Humanity before, the black cards are “category” cards and the white cards you use to fill in the blank. One person in each round judges the white cards and how they go with the black card, and the winner gets a point. Just to give you an idea of the raunchy humor you can expect, I randomly picked one black card and three white cards:
As you can see, this is probably not a game you want to play with your grandmother or young child. I can personally attest that the game is funnier if there are adult beverages involved.
Brittany Arita Designs Treat Yo Self Print + Clipboard - Listed Value $10
This print inspired by Parks and Recreation, which is a big MSA favorite (who else is excited for Galentines Day 2019?)! I think presenting the print on this baby clipboard really improves the presentation aspect compared to how regular prints in subscription boxes are usually just in a cello sleeve. I think this would be really cute displayed on a kitchen counter next to a cookie jar—where treating yo self is of paramount importance!
Challenge Accepted Car Coasters - Listed Value $8
I had no idea car coasters were a thing, and I guess they are for soaking up condensation from cold drinks? I am not sure. I will be throwing these into my trucks cupholders, but I am not too sure if this will make a difference in a problem I wasn’t aware I had. If you use car coasters, I would love to know your general thoughts below. I haven’t seen The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, but I believe that is the theme behind these coasters.
Ma Designs Golden Girls Card - Retail Value $4
I’ve never actually seen an episode of The Golden Girls, but I think everyone can appreciate the wisdom that is keeping calm and eating cheesecake. This card is blank on the inside except for an emoji-esque slice of cheesecake, and I plan on using it to write a letter to one of my aunts.
Get It Poppin Hot Pad - Listed Value $10
I personally am not a big fan of The Office, but my mom and sister absolutely love it. What I am a big fan of is cooking, so I am happy to add this pot holder to my collection! So far this has done a good job of insulating the heat and keeping me from being burned, and that is really all I can ask for.
The Verdict: I have only seen a few of the shows featured in this Smartass & Sass box, but as a whole, I thought the products were fun and useful. Where I find an issue is that I believe all of the products are walking a fine line between creative inspiration and copyright infringement. None of the items included are officially licensed or affiliated products. Value-wise, the listed and retail values combine to equal $67.99.
