NomNomNow Cat Review

NomNomNow arrives in simple, portioned packets to feed your cat. It all arrives in a box with ice packs to keep everything fresh – and the meals can be frozen until you’re ready for your kitty to enjoy them.

You’ll get a booklet that is loaded with information on fresh food and how to transition your pet.

There are also some handy info cards with more information.

I also received a magnet to use for remembering to feed your pet on schedule.

There are two options for cats: the Chicken Cuisine and the Flavorful Fish Feast. Both options have different protein/fat/carb counts so you can pick the best option for your pets dietary needs.

I went with the Chicken Cuisine, which is made with chicken breast, thigh, and liver along with asparagus, carrot, spinach, cantaloupe, and the NomNom Nutrient mix. For reference, Duchess is a 2 and a half-year-old kitty with medium-length fur and no health issues.

Plain and simple, Duchess did not want to eat this. She sniffed it a few times and gave it a lick, but then decided she was not interested.

NomNomNow also includes some flavor mix-ins as a bonus to adjust your pet to their new food. I tried sprinkling some of the included powder flavor mix (they also included a beef broth) to make it more appetizing, and this definitely made it smell more interesting to her.

After a few sniffs, however,  she decided to instead pose for the camera.

Every new NomNomNow customer also receives a free bag of chicken treats. These treats are just freeze-dried chicken, so this is a great treat for pets with dietary restrictions. Duchess absolutely loved the flavor, which surprised me because she normally shuns treats in all forms. One thing about these treats is that I think they are better suited for dogs than cats. The large, thin structure of the treat made it really awkward for Duchess to eat, and she kept turning her head sideways trying to figure it out. Even when I ripped off smaller pieces, she couldn’t quite figure out how to bite it.

Eventually, we settled on me holding the jerky while she licked it like a freeze-dried chicken lollipop. Only the best for my baby!

The Verdict: Even though the food wasn’t Duchess’s cup of tea, don’t let that dissuade you from considering NomNomNow for your pet. I think this is a great option for cats with health issues or a lot of dietary restrictions, and I appreciate the wholesome ingredients. The info booklet this comes with also includes more tips and tricks to try and get your cat to adjust to their new food,  so eventually, even picky eaters should come around and enjoy their new food.

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

Cats are obligate carnivores, why do these companies continue to put fruit and vegetables in their cat food? It sounded good until I read they did this. So hard to find the right healthy food with all the right things.

Checked the prices for my pup. $85 a week for dog food…yeah, don’t see this company and business model being very successful.

I spend $500 a month for prescription dog food. I would love $85/week. But Nyx definitely can’t have this.

It took a couple of weeks to transition our dog to fresh people grade food. We’ve always had to start by mixing the fresh food 50/50 with our dogs existing food and it seems like that’s their recommendation too. It was definitely trial and error with flavors too.

I think it’s easier if you’re able to do smaller portions and we had to warm our pouches in warm water for her to eat them.

i tried feeding my kitties fresh meals for years, never worked. not with my recent kitties or the kitties before them. it sucks because it seems like it would be so good for them!!!

Given how finicky cats often are, it would probably be a good idea for a subscription like this to have a one time sample meal available, that way cat owners can figure out whether to go all in on a whole box without much waste.

Yes, this ^^^. I’d love to try this for my cats but can’t afford to be stuck with something they won’t eat.
