Lipstick Junkie August 2018 Review

This month includes 2 lip color products, 1 lip care product, and a bonus item!

The included info card gives some information about each of the items including the retail values and description of the theme.

Kiss Me Honey Exfoliating Lip Polish in Strawberry

Kiss Me Honey Exfoliating Lip Polish in Strawberry - Retail Value $15.99 (found here for $11.99)

Starting off strong here with one of the best lip polishes I’ve tried. It smells delightful and tastes like candy. What really makes it great is that it stays gritty for the full recommended minute of scrub time. Usually, lip scrubs just dissolve before actually doing any good. My lips feel soft and plump after without being irritated or dried out. I like that it comes with a little spatula for those of us who hate dipping fingers into jars.

Sorme Cosmetics Metallics Lip & Eyeliner in Palladium

Sorme Cosmetics Metallics Lip & Eyeliner in Palladium - Retail Value $14

Technically, this can be a lip product. Look, it says so on the tube! Personally, I’ll be using this as an eyeliner because it is bright, metallic silver. The formula is pleasantly smooth and glides on without tugging. And, it really stays put, even in my waterline. You can see what it looks like on my eyes below.

SheBelieves Cosmetics Lip Gloss in Rose Gold

SheBelieves Cosmetics Lip Gloss in Rose Gold - Retail Value $9.50

This thick gloss is really moisturizing and comfortable to wear. It lasts quite a while and doesn’t feel sticky. The gloss is a rose color with pink and gold shimmer and looks beautiful and subtle on its own. It also transforms other shades when layered.

Sorme Cosmetics Tasty Tubes in Magnetic

Bonus Item: Sorme Cosmetics Tasty Tubes in Magnetic - Retail Value $14.98 (not counted toward total value since it’s a bonus item)

Bonus! This gloss looks pretty similar in shade to the previous one, but it is actually a sheer, shimmery pink. The formula is like the previous one in that it is thick, moisturizing, and non-sticky. The tube is squeezable with a plastic applicator which makes applying it quick and easy.

Here are swatches of the lip colors (from left to right): SheBelieves lip gloss, Sorme Tasty Tube, and Sorme liner.

Verdict: This month's Lipstick Junkie box has a value of about $39.49. Now that the subscription costs $18 (instead of $24), I think that’s a good value to be able to try multiple lip products every month. Everything is full-size and they even included a bonus item. All of the shades were pretty tame this month, but they usually include bold colors. This is the first month I’ve received a box since they’ve updated, so I’m interested to see how next month compares.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, you will receive the September box. From Lipstick Junkie:

Hi,

I need some advice from those of you with a regular subscription to this box.

I just signed up and they charged me a city tax ( for a small town I do not live in the city limits of, even. My postal code is for there as it’s the ONLY town in the county).

A county tax ( and I swear if they are shipping boxes from this county, it’s the largest industry in the county).

A state tax ( which Sephora and Macy’s charges because they have retail shops in this state).

I am really confused. because when a merchant taxes this much, it’s supposed to be because they are located here as in ” right here”. Also, all the tax they collect has to be distributed to the city and county and state, not kept by the merchant, and I don’t think they are doing that for sure.

I am really confused and a bit upset. I emailed them, of course- no reply yet.

Hi Tiffany. Would you care to model the silver as a lip product? I can only think of the Tin Man from Wizard of Oz.

I am so glad the price went down because for almost $25 bucks for very similar shades/colors and feeling like the items went down in excitement and quality that was just what I was going to suggest they do .

I think it was a good move for them too. I’m glad they listened to subscriber feedback and made positive changes!
