Bulu Box September 2018 Review

Because of the variations with this subscription, there’s not a traditional information card listing the items.

There are also usually some coupons and/or product literature with this subscription.  They don’t always relate to the items in the box.  There was a lot of product literature this month.

Nutri Snacks Sugar Free Cookies in Lemon Lime (2 pack)

Nutri Snacks Sugar Free Cookies in Lemon Lime (2 pack

We received these in another flavor last month and I’m not sure I’m a fan. They are high in fiber and sugar-free, which I appreciate. But there is some dissonance here because, after trying them, I really don’t feel like lemon-lime is a good flavor combination for hard cookies. These are sweetened with stevia and it definitely works better here in a food than in beverages where I usually see it.

Nutri Snacks Sugar Free Chocolate Cookies (2 pack) – Buy a 6-pack of boxes (48 cookies total) for $34.99

Another flavor of these! But, chocolate works a lot better as a flavor for these than anything fruity. I don’t think I’d necessarily seek them out, but I enjoyed these more than any of the others.

Manitoba Milling Co. Ground Flax Sample –

Manitoba Milling Co. Ground Flax Sample – Buy 16 oz for $12.99

I like to add some seeds (chia, hemp, or flax) to my morning smoothies and this was nicely milled so there weren’t any chunks later on. Honestly, the price is pretty good for ground seeds like this, as well. Flax has ALA, which is an omega 3 fatty acid (though not the best form to consume as it is only inefficiently converted by the body to the active DHA and EPA).

Vicks Vapocool Severe in Winterfrost (18 lozenges) – Buy 45 drops for $3.87

I can’t say whether these work or don’t work because I don’t have a cold, sore through, scratchy throat, etc. right now, and neither does my husband. It’s a little weird to get cold medicine at this time of year (it is 88 degrees today where I am!). But I guess I will have these around when I need them, and this is a generous sample size – definitely enough to tell if they work and also to see if I can tolerate the higher level of menthol in these as compared to the product I was using before, when the time comes.

MS Prebiotic (7 pouches)

MS Prebiotic (7 pouches) – Buy 45 servings for $38.95

This product is making the rounds.  I also received it in Clean Fit Box (review coming soon). A prebiotic provides an environment for and stimulates the activity of helpful gut bacteria. I think you would need to take this for at least a few days, and maybe a few weeks, before making any comments about the efficacy. I started it yesterday according to the instructions in the booklet so we will see how it goes. (I suspect I may not be a fan, as this is basically just potato starch. You start out with smaller amounts in your drink so it is still tolerable right now, but I can see how it might not be so pleasant as time goes on.) If you have diabetes, you may want to avoid this as at least some potato starch is converted to glucose by an enzyme in the saliva.

Verdict: This month’s Bulu Box box had five samples, so they’d average about $2 each. I’d say this assortment was representative of what you could receive in a given month from this subscription, with the caveat that you cannot expect the contents of any given box to conform to a particular set of dietary restrictions. It’s a little bit weird to get cough drops when it’s 90 degrees outside still, but they will be good during the winter too!

I’d strongly recommend using our MYSUB799 coupon code when you subscribe and choosing either the regular or the weight loss box, but not both since there is a lot of product repetition between the two. Please also note that instead of getting points you can redeem for merchandise if you review your samples, now you get sweepstakes entries, which isn’t as good of a deal (unless you are the winner…).

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, October would be your first shipment. Also, keep in mind that there are variations in the boxes, so your box might not be exactly like mine in any given month.

Coupon - Use our coupon code MYSUB799 to get your subscription at $7.99 per month, for the lifetime of the subscription!

Value Breakdown: This box costs $9.99 + free shipping, which means that each of the 5 items in the box has an average cost of $2.

Value Breakdown: This box has various prices depending on the promotion you used when you signed up; someone paying full price for the subscription would be paying about $2 per item.

i got the same box. i kinda like those cookies. i mean, i wouldn’t buy them, but i didn’t mind them. i was disappointed by this months box. the other box had almost the same stuff, except the cough drops. hopefully next month will be better!

thank you for reviewing these, i’m always curious to see what another veg thinks about the items. 🙂

My other box was really quite different, it did have the cough drops and the flax but the rest was not the same at all. (Review coming soon.)

I didn’t mind the chocolate cookie but there is something that just doesn’t work for me about fruit-flavored cookies. I don’t know what it is.
