Yummy Bazaar Full Experience July 2018 Review

Hello Korea Info sheet list of items in box yummy bazaar social media handles

You'll get a pamphlet that tells you the featured country this month (Korea) plus, descriptions of each item.

Woongjin Green Plum Drink

Woongjin Green Plum Drink - Retail Value $2.95

It's always cool to get drinks in food subscription boxes. At first, I thought this was a green tea drink, but it's actually green plum! I put it in my fridge to get cool because the info sheet mentions it being really refreshing. This turned out to be a lot sweeter than I thought it'd be but I found it to be really tasty! It almost has a grape-like flavor to it. Super fruity!

CJ Korean BBQ Sauce

CJ Korean BBQ Kalbi Marinade - Retail Value $5.99

An item like this has a great value in general, but for me, it's hard to end up using. I don't cook a ton of meat at home (unless it's from a meal kit), so sauces and marinades are usually lost on me. I will most likely pass this to a friend who does a lot of grilling and experimenting with different sauces like this.

Dongwon Mild Sesame Leaves bottom of Dongwon Mild Sesame Leaves

Dongwon Mild Sesame Leaves - Retail Value $3.95

I try to be a little adventurous with food, but I have to say that this one is new to me. I can't recall ever having sesame leaves so I didn't know what to expect. I opened the shallow square can to reveal marinated leaves stacked on top of one another. These are the mild variety and are flavored with soy sauce, garlic, and red pepper paste (all of which I like). The flavor is kind of earthy and extremely unique, so it's hard for me to describe! They suggest wrapping these around rice to enjoy as a snack. I can't say I'll be going back for more of these but am glad I got to try them.

Yangban Tradtional Kimchi bottom of Yangban Tradtional Kimchi

Yangban Traditional Kimchi - Retail Value $2.15

I really love kimchi but try my best to get it fresh from my local Asian market or direct from some of my friend's parents. This is the first time I've had canned kimchi, but it wasn't bad at all. It's definitely a lot milder than I am used to, but I supp9ose that makes it a lot easier to eat more of. 🙂 I ended up putting this in with the rice bowl that I enjoyed a little further in this review.

Orion Turtle Chips - Shrimp flavor back of Orion Turtle Chips - Shrimp flavor Orion Turtle Chips - Shrimp flavor on a plate

Orion Turtle Chips in Shrimp Flavor

I love chips, especially unusual ones, so I was excited to try these shrimp flavored "turtle chips". Don't worry, these don't contain any turtles, but are named that for the way they look! They are layered and resemble a shell, so you can see what I mean. If you've ever had Bugles, these have a similar texture that is light and airy. The flavor is super mild as well and slowly becomes addictive!

Lotte Pepero Nude Cookie box package comingout of Lotte Pepero Nude Cookie box Lotte Pepero Nude Cookies on a plate

Lotte Pepero Nude Cookies

Now that I've had a bunch of savory foods, I'm happy to come across this sweet one! I don't really want to compare these to Japanese Pocky, but there are some similarities in that they are a cookie stick form with sweet toppings. These, however, are hollow and have chocolate cream on the inside. They are ridiculously delicious and are hard to stop eating.

Choridong Traditional Whole Wheat Rolls Choridong Traditional Whole Wheat Roll on a plate

Choridong Traditional Whole Wheat Roll

When I first laid eyes on these, I was not really excited. They look healthy and boring, BUT I WAS WRONG. These are super tasty! The puffed wheat are just like rice cakes but in a fun form, and they are delicately sweetened with what I thought might be honey, but looks to just be butter and or/sugar. I was saddened when I finished the last one of these because they truly are great for snacking, just like the info sheet says.

CJ HetBahn CupBahn Vegetable Bibimbap white rice from CJ HetBahn CupBahn Vegetable Bibimbap

CJ HetBahn CupBahn Vegetable Bibimbap - Buy 2 for $14.99

I thought this was going to be a simple rice and vegetable bowl, but once I opened it, I saw that it was much more advanced. Bibimbap is a super popular dish in Korea and I happen to love it. This quick version includes rice that is already cooked so you just have to heat it in the microwave or drop the top part into boiling water for 10 minutes. Once the rice is heated, there are three different packets included that you'll squeeze into that larger bowl. The vegetables, the gochujang pepper sauce, and the sesame oil. It even comes with a collapsible plastic spoon inside! I thought this was rather tasty for how quick it was to prepare. I ended up adding the kimichi that I also received in this box to add a bit more to the dish!

Terrapin Ridge Farms Fiesta Dip Mix

Bonus: Terrapin Ridge Farms Fiesta Dip Mix, 1 oz. - Retail Value $4.50

It's not Korean or listed on the info sheet, but they also included an item in the box this time which was from last month's box. The Fiesta Dip mix comes with 2 packets per box and all you have to do is mix it with sour cream and mayo and you'll have a cup of zesty dip that is great on chips or pita. I finally was able to get what I needed from the store and made up a batch. I have to say it was pretty tasty! This would be great on tacos as well!

Verdict: Yummy Bazaar Full Experience Box sent me eight Korean foods to try as well as a bonus item from the USA this month. While not all of them were a hit with my palette, I was happy to try most of it and rather enjoyed a good portion! I think the full experience box is a wonderful way to break down some food barriers and try things that we normally wouldn't choose on our own (or even have access to). Not everything was available online which makes it that much more special.

This looks so interesting! I’m curious about what the bibimbap and sesame leaves actually looked like outside of the packaging.
