The Vegan Cuts Beauty Box is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. All of their products are vegan (and they tend to be natural, too). They also typically include a nice mix of full-size and sample beauty items. Vegan Cuts also offers a monthly Snack Box and quarterly Makeup Box.
Vegan Cuts sends a single package to subscribers who get both the beauty and snack boxes. The beauty items are separated into a little bag. (If you do not get the snack box, I don’t think you get the little bag.)
This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)
This review is of the Vegan Cuts Beauty, $22.95 a month, box.

Vegan Cuts Beauty Box August 2018 Review
The Vegan Cuts Beauty box usually contains a variety of hair care, skincare, and bath and body products. There’s often one makeup product, as well:
Each Vegan Cuts Beauty Box comes with an information card detailing the items for that month.
Dermala Inc. Acne Pimple Patches, 36 dots – Listed Value $10 (currently out of stock)
These are listed as “sold out” on the manufacturer’s website so I used the value from the information card, but at the link, you can sign up to be notified when they’re back in stock if you’re interested. I did have a mini-breakout so I tried one of these and I don’t think it’s an overnight miracle, but I saw some improvement, so I’ll keep at it. This is made from “hydrocolloid” which *sounds* scientific, unless you have a Ph.D. in biochemistry like I do, and then it sounds really vague. Especially since a lot of hydrocolloids contains gelatin but this is a vegan product so I don’t know what is taking the place of the gelatin?
Farmstead Apothecary Face Cream in Citrus Rose, 1 oz – Estimated Value $4.75 (buy a 4 oz jar for $19)
There is a definite floral theme with the skincare products this month and this smells really nice to me. Plus, it is a thicker cream, which is great for my nighttime routine (when I prefer thicker moisturizers). This absorbed reasonably well although I don’t think I would want to try to put makeup over it.
Delizioso Skincare Bulgarian Rose Facial Elixir, 0.5 fl oz – Retail Value $48
All right, with this one product, you have more than the value of the box! Anyway, this just has the scent and texture of a really luxurious product (which I guess it is, at $48 for a half ounce). It definitely has a rose scent, but I happen to like that. It is listed as being for mature skin or as being an anti-aging product but I don’t mind that, seeing as I’ll be 41 in a couple of months. This does have ingredients with some antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties, which is nice, and it works well paired with the face cream from up above.
Hempz Pink Pomelo and Himalayan Sea Salt Lotion, 2.25 fl oz – Estimated Value $3.04 (buy 17 fl oz jar for $23)
You’ll get Hempz body lotion every now and then. It’s not an expensive product, but it does work for me, and this is a good way to sample new scents without buying a huge bottle first. I like this scent although it’s not as grapefruity-smelling as I thought it might be.
Loba Mane Coconut + Buruti + Tucuma Color Vibrante Styling Cream, 2 oz – Estimated Value $6 (buy a 6 oz jar for $18)
This is designed for color preservation and frizz control, two properties I’m definitely interested in. However, this product does not work for me. Which is too bad, because I really, really like the way it smells. Unfortunately, my hair was just as frizzy as ever after using this so I am not likely to try using it long enough to see color preservation. (I have something of a track record of Vegan Cuts hair products not working for me, though.)
Food for Face Violet Cleansing Essence, about 0.5 fl oz – Listed Value $7
This product is not available on the Food for Face site, which currently only lists a moisturizer. This does smell nice, and it is quite effective as a first pass cleanser even for removing full foundation. However, this little bottle is not a good packaging idea. This stuff is so thick, it needs to be either in a jar or a squeeze tube. I turned the bottle upside down overnight and the product did not flow downwards due to gravity. I have to hold it under hot running water in a sink to thin it out a bit.
Dusty Girls Makeup by Moogoo Vegan Lip Shine in Argyle Pink, 0.07 oz – Listed Value $14
This brand is not available for purchase in the United States. It is kind of fun to see products from around the world, though. (This is an Australian brand.) This does kind of make the lips shiny but doesn’t add a lot of color. It is moisturizing. I will probably mostly use it over lip stains since I find those drying.
Here is a swatch of the lip product. I think this is the result of like 10 passes over my arm, though.
Verdict: I calculated a value of about $92.79 for this month’s Vegan Cuts Beauty Box. That is one of the highest values I think I’ve seen for this subscription, and it means you get way more than your money’s worth, EVEN if you don’t like the expensive $48 product (though I did). The only thing that really didn’t work for me was the styling cream and I thought this was one of the best Vegan Cuts Beauty Boxes I’ve received in a long time.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, the August box is still available. They don't have a standard cut-off date, but boxes ship until their next month's spoilers launch (typically between the 26th and 29th of each month). If you are interested in trying some of the items, though, watch the Vegan Cuts shop for sales – they offer large bundles of past items fairly regularly.
Value Breakdown: At $22.95 for the box, you are paying approximately the following per item:
- Patches: $2.47
- Face Cream: $1.17
- Serum (elixir): $11.87
- Lotion: $0.75
- Styling Cream: $1.48
- Cleanser: $1.73
