Stitch Fix is a monthly clothing and styling subscription service. When you initially sign up, you take an in-depth survey that asks you about your clothing size, personal style, and price preferences. They also ask you a few questions about your pregnancy such as due date and how you like to style your bump. Your stylist handpicks five items based on your preferences within the survey. The fee for this service is $20, and that includes free shipping as well as free returns. If you keep any of the items they send you, you get to deduct the $20 fee from the total. If you keep all five items, you also get a 25% discount!

FYI – My items are reflective of my style and price preferences, so your Stitch Fix may be completely different!

Stitch Fix Maternity Clothing Box August 2018 Review

Stitch Fix Maternity August 2018 - 0004 return label

Each box comes with a free return bag. All you have to do is package up anything you want to return and send it back. Super easy!

I received this information card all about the brand new Stitch Fix Kid's option. Check out our first Stitch Fix Kids review to learn more!

This is the invoice that was sent in the box. As you can see, it provides specifics on the brand, size, and price of each item. They also give instructions at the bottom for how to check out and either purchase or return your items. My total came to $312, but with the 25% off (which they take off BEFORE deducting the $20!) and the $20 credit, my total drops down to $214. That’s a savings of $98 on these items!

This is the included style sheet which includes a note from my stylist. This is always super helpful to see how you can use each piece in a full outfit! I am currently 7 months pregnant, chasing around an active toddler, so I need light and easy pieces to keep me cool in the summer. Let's see what Stitch Fix sent!

First Kick Kimbrel Maternity Distressed Denim Short, Size XL - Cost to Keep $38

These shorts are amazing! My only wish is that I had received them two boxes ago. While we still have about two or so more months of summer, that basically takes me to the end of my pregnancy so I don't feel a huge need to add shorts to my maternity clothes closet at this point. While I love these shorts, I know that I won't get as much wear out of them as say a dress. They had a ton of stretch and sat nicely on my hips without feeling as though the belly band was going to slide around. I love the distressed look and the wash. I am sad to send these back!

Just USA Loula Denim Jacket, Size L - Cost to Keep $68

This denim jacket is a great staple piece to have in my wardrobe. I love that I can wear it now and into the fall, but that it will still be something that I can wear when I am no longer pregnant. The denim has spandex to allow for a great amount of stretch, so the jacket really moves with you, unlike some denim. While I loved receiving a closet staple like this, I am not currently in the market for a denim jacket which is why I decided to return this one.

Nine Britton Hannah Maternity Fitted Dress, Size L - Cost to Keep $68

Oh, this dress was tight! I think a size up would be a bit more comfortable for me. I love showing off my bump in tighter dresses, but this one felt a bit restricting. The ruching on the side allows for some give while your tummy grows, which is always helpful, and the fabric has spandex in it as well! The overall cut and color of the dress are beautiful so I am sad to see this one go back, but ultimately, I did not feel like my best self in it.

Gilli Gabbiey Knit Maternity Maxi Dress, Size L - Cost to Keep $68

This dress reminds me almost exactly of a dress that I wore on my first date with my husband many moons ago! It is so lovely and I love the crochet detail on the back. The dress, like most maternity items, has spandex in the fabric so it went on easily and moved with me as I wore it. What I don't love is the cut on me right now. While everything is growing, including my chest, I felt that the cut wasn't very flattering especially since my bra straps were showing. This would have been the perfect dress to receive a few boxes ago when I was a bit smaller, but right now I just didn't love it enough to make the final purchase.

Stork & Babe Vivica Maternity Smocked Off the Shoulder Dress, Size L - Cost to Keep $70

I was obsessed with this dress when I first took it out of the box, but my love ended after trying it on. The sleeves were a bit tight and restricting, and the top did not look good with my bra straps showing. So I would have to either wear a strapless bra or no bra in order to wear this dress, which neither option is good when you are pregnant (I need all of the support I can get in the chest area). Maybe if I had a special occasion coming up I could make this work, but for day to day, it doesn't feel like the most comfortable maternity piece. The bottom of the dress fit perfectly and had lots of stretch but, unfortunately, the top made this dress go into the return pile.

The Verdict: This month's Stitch Fix was really great! I loved seeing darker colors and solid pieces, especially the denim jacket staple. While I loved each of the pieces out of the box, I wasn't in love with most of the items once I tried them on. Pieces either felt a bit too tight, unflattering or just overall restricting to be wearing during my third trimester. Plus, now that I am getting closer to my due date, I am going to be a bit more picky about what maternity pieces I purchase. I really have to love something and feel great in it to keep! My birthday is coming up next month, so hopefully, I will get something cute that I can wear for a dinner out with my husband or lunch date with my two-year-old son!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Stitch Fix curates its boxes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what I got, but you also might get something that fits your style and body even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!

Value Breakdown: This box cost $20 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $312. The invoice lists the cost of each item next to it, but if I keep all 5 items, then I get a 25% discount. The $20 styling fee for the box is applied to the purchase no matter how many items you keep, and in this case, it would bring the total down to $214. That’s a discount of around 31% for these items!

Man I would of kept it all if I was you! You looked great in all of it. The last dress was my least favorite but still adorable. The dress with the jean jacket was picture perfect on you! Also can I add that you are the absolute cutest pregnant person I’ve EVER seen😊❤️

Aww, thank you so much for your sweet post! I loved the dress and jean jacket so much, just needed a size up, which I might see if I can request for next month. You sure know how to make a pregnant lady feel confident!
