Stitch Fix is a monthly clothing and styling subscription service. When you sign up you take a pretty in-depth survey of your sizes, your style, and pricing preferences. After choosing when you'd like to receive your delivery, your stylist handpicks 5 items based on your preferences. The fee for this service is $20, and that includes free shipping and free returns. And if you keep any of the items they send you, you get to deduct the $20 fee from the total. (If you keep all five items, you also get a 25% discount!)

My items are reflective of my style and price preferences, so your Stitch Fix may be completely different!

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

Stitch Fix for Women August 2018 Review

Included in my box was this flyer advertising their newest service, StitchFix for kids. I couldn't resist and my daughter will be receiving a box soon! I just wish there was some sort of family discount or even a referral credit for signing your child up if you are already a customer.

This is the invoice that was sent in the box. As you can see, it provides specifics on the brand, size, and price of each item. They also give instructions at the bottom for how to check out and either purchase or return your items. My total came to $216, but with the 25% off (which they take off BEFORE deducting the $20!) and the $20 credit, my total drops down to $142 (The $162 is if I decide to keep the Extra item I ordered-more details on that below!). That’s a savings of $74 on these items.

This is my style sheet that includes a note from my stylist and features the five items I received along with different outfit suggestions and accessories that might pair well with them. Recently, Stitch Fix added a section on their app where you can rate various styles of clothing and my stylist said that she included a lot of items I had "liked" on the app. I think this is such an awesome service that helps provide your Stylist with even more guidance on your style. The only issue with this is that I usually do this on my phone and things that might look nice in a smaller version on my phone, don't necessarily look as great in person. Nonetheless, it's still really addicting and fun to rate the items!

This month I decided to take advantage of their Extras option and added a bralette to my order. Just like everything else in your Fix, shipping and returns are free, you just pay for the Extras you want to keep when you checkout. The good news is that your $20 styling fee will be applied toward any extras you purchase, however, it is not part of the 25% discount you get if you purchase all 5 items in your Fix!

Galloon Lace Racerback in Navy by Free People, size L - Cost to Keep $20 (Return)

I have always been curious about bralettes, but have never actually tried them because I was afraid of the coverage they would provide since they are thin. I figured what better way to try one than in the comfort of my own home! This bralette is gorgeous and so flattering - I don't think I've ever appreciated my clavicles more- and it actually provided better coverage of the girls than I expected. Unfortunately, the area it was lacking in was in the support it provided, which I will happily blame on nursing my three children as I ignore the fact that I'm getting older and that gravity is starting to take its toll.

Selma 2-Piece Twisted Bangle by Bancroft - Cost to Keep $28 (Return)

I did not request any accessories this month and I admit that I was a little disappointed to learn I was getting a piece of jewelry. Clothes are just much more exciting for some reason, but since I have been pleasantly surprised in the past, I was open to trying it out. I love the mixed metals and the twists of these bangles. It's a really basic piece that can go with a lot of different looks and I would say it is definitely my style.

I liked how they looked on and I thought the open clasp was unique and allowed it to fit a bit tighter than most bangles, meaning they wouldn't slide around and drive me crazy. I thought I would like this at first, but they were also more of an oval shape and so when they would shift slightly they became a bit tight and too uncomfortable for me.

Jansen Printed Linen Short by Kut from the Kloth, Size 12 - Cost to Keep $58 (Keep)

I did ask for another pair of elastic waist shorts since I really liked the ones that they sent me last month but ended up sending back since the color wasn't right. This color is much better and I love the pattern. These are super cute and the linen feels so nice, but in order for me to pay $58 for a pair of shorts that aren't jeans that I can throw on every day, they have to be really flattering and comfortable. Fortunately, they are! Which really makes my wallet (and husband) cringe, but I am super happy. They are actually a little tight on me, but I'm still working on losing the baby weight, so when I do, I know I'll feel great in them.

Floid Chambray Top by Tinsel, Size L - Cost to Keep $48 (Keep)

It was really hard to get a decent close-up picture of this because my camera kept washing out the color on this one, but it is definitely light blue. This top is so soft and it was recommended that it be paired with the shorts for a casual look. I decided to add the bangles to dress it up a little bit more. This is probably the ideal post-partum outfit- elastic-waist shorts that are forgiving on your belly and a button up top for easy nursing. This shirt is so soft and comfortable and while it is a bit tight on me, this is another piece that I will feel great wearing once I lose a little bit more weight. Usually, I am not a fan of button up shirts because they don't fit across my bust, but with just one button open at the top, I felt like it fit well.

Bosworth Kimono by Your Story, Size L - Cost to Keep $28 (Return)

I have never worn a kimono before other than a few weeks ago as a beach cover-up. I loved the feeling of having something light and flowy to wear over my swimsuit so I was really excited to see this in my fix in hopes that I would get that same feeling paired with a nursing top. I wasn't crazy about the red color, but I actually didn't mind it on. My stylist also suggested it be paired with the shorts, but I felt like it was too many patterns going on.

I loved the lightweight feel and the drape of this, but it just felt a bit too big for me. I am definitely asking for another kimono in my next fix though!

Bloom Knit Maxi Dress by Papermoon, Size L - Cost to Keep $54 (Return)

This maxi dress is exactly what I envision as being the perfect summer post-partum dress. The top is sleeveless, but still provides decent shoulder coverage and it allows for easy nursing. I also love the floral pattern. I felt so pretty in this!

I tried to get a picture of how the top had an extra layer of fabric, while the bottom didn't, which really added to the lightweight feel of the dress. Also, check out that sexy slit at the bottom! I really was so torn about this dress, but I have nowhere to wear it this summer and I am afraid that by next summer it will be too big for my chest since it is almost too big right now. I was devastated to find that they didn't have a medium that I could exchange it for, but I can't buy such a beautiful dress to let it sit in the closet.

The Verdict:  This was such a great fix this month! I think I'm at the point now where Stitch Fix is sending me more items that work for me than not, whereas at first, it seemed I would only find one item I really liked per fix. I very well could have kept everything this month, and I was incredibly tempted to, but I had to control myself. Now I am just really looking forward to my next fix since I have a great idea of what I'd like to see. I love that they are sending me items that fit me well, are (mostly) flattering and suit my style. Yet, I also feel like they take me just a bit outside of my comfort zone with some of their choices in clothing type, pattern or color. It's always really exciting to open the box and see what you get, plus I love being able to try everything on in the comfort of my own home and just send back what I don't want.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Stitch Fix curates its boxes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what I got, but you also might get something that fits your style and body even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!

Value Breakdown: This box cost $20 with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $216. The invoice lists the cost of each item next to it, but if I keep all 5 items, then I get a 25% discount. The $20 styling fee for the box is applied to the purchase no matter how many items you keep, and in this case, it would bring the total down to $142. That’s a discount of around 34% for these items!

While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

I like the shorts and I’d prefer one pair Inlove for that price than several I don’t love at 15-20$ a pair. The maxi dress is pretty maybe check Poshmark for a medium.

Those shorts look AMAZING on you! I would cringe at the price too at first glance, but it is completely worth it to look that awesome.
