SnackSack Classic August 2018 Review

SnackSack got a makeover! I love the new box and logo! The pamphlet pictured above contains an abundance of information including social media handles, a “menu” for their three box options and some promotions to win snacks and prizes.

Every first-time subscriber receives a reusable bag, which is meant to hold all your snacks.

Now onto the goodies!

Beanitos White Bean Chips, 1.2oz

Beanitos White Bean Chips, 1.2oz - Retail Value $1.05 (Found here for $.99)

Although these chips have a great crunch, the nacho flavor is bland and a bean taste is prominent. I enjoy the flavor, but if I were looking for an indulgent chip to satisfy a craving, I’m afraid these have too much of a “healthy taste” to quench it. I sampled these plain, but I really think that they would be better suited to dip in salsa or hummus, which is what I am going to try with my second bag!

Garden Of Life Chocolate Sea Salt Gol Bar, 2.11oz - Retail Value $2.49 (Found here for $2.19)

Garden Of Life Maple Sea Salt Gol Bar, 2.11oz - Retail Value $2.49 (Found here for $2.19)

Sticky, chewy, and tasty! I am so picky when it comes to protein bars, and I definitely did not have to choke these down. With 12 grams of protein and 220 (maple) - 230 (chocolate) calories, each Gol Bar would make a satisfying, on-the-go breakfast option. The two flavors tasted similar, but I preferred the maple because it was a little sweeter than the chocolate.

Don’t Go Nuts Gorilla Power Bar, 1.26oz

Don’t Go Nuts Gorilla Power Bar, 1.26oz - Buy a box of 12 here for $21.48

This bar brought me back to grade school when my mom would pack me a Chocolate Chip Chewy Bar by Quaker every. single. day. From what I can recall, this bar tastes identical! Unlike Chewy Bars, Don’t Go Nuts are known for their nut-free, Non-GMO, and organic ingredients--definitely an upgrade from Quaker!

Extraordinary Snack Co Banana Not Bread, 2oz - Retail Value $4.50

Walnuts are my very favorite nut as of recently, and these taste exactly like banana bread. Uncanny! Usually banana flavored snacks have too much of an artificial taste for me, but this is the perfect degree of sweet and wholesome. Extraordinary Snack Co marinates their raw walnuts in a banana puree, then they crisp them to perfection. I think this is the only flavor they make so far, but I’d love sample more from them in the future!

Unisoy Foods Teriyaki Vegan Jerky, 1oz

Unisoy Foods Teriyaki Vegan Jerky, 1oz - Buy a 3.5oz bag here for $6.99

I have never tried vegan jerky, so I wasn’t really sure what to expect. The teriyaki flavor is boldly sweet in this meatless jerky.. maybe too sweet. Compared to normal beef jerky, this has (noticeably) way less sodium and no cholesterol. I feel It was wetter and easier to bite into than normal jerky, but I wasn’t a huge fan of the chewy texture. I think I’ll stick with the carnivorous type for now.

Watusee Foods Caramel Sea Salt Chickpeatos, .8oz - Retail Value $1.49 (Found here for $1.35)

Puffs are some of my favorite snacks; I love all varieties, including this caramel sea salt blend. The whole bag is 100 calories with 3 grams of fiber and protein, not bad! They do have a little bit of the “health food” taste to them, but the sweetness of the caramel flavoring makes it less apparent. I give these 7 out of 10 stars! (For reference, Utz White Cheddar puffs are 10 star puffs.)

Belgian Boys De Liege Wafel, 1.94oz

Belgian Boys De Liege Wafel, 1.94oz - Buy a 5 count box here for $4.99

Belgian Boys can do no wrong in this household! My obsession with their waffle treats started when Popsugar Must Have sampled their Stroopwafels a few years back. I was thrilled to try this soft, luscious waffle, and it left me wanting more. Oh no -- I just read the back of the wrapper, and I was supposed to warm this up a bit in the microwave.. I guess I’ll just have to buy another!

Pizootz Blazing Buffalo Artisan Peanuts, 1.45oz - Retail Value $3

Being a huge nut fan, this tasty bag of peanuts were greeted with open arms. After eating a few I thought, “weren’t these supposed to be spicy?” ..And then the spice hit me! The heat factor was there, but it was not over or underwhelming. The nuts themselves were not saturated in seasoning, but I prefer an understated burn, so I’m not disappointed.

Wai Lana Sea Salt Cassava Pops, .8oz

Wai Lana Sea Salt Cassava Pops, .8oz - Retail Value $1.39 (Found here for $0.97)

I’ve grown to really have an appreciation for pop chips thanks to SnackSack, and these top the charts. They are just bursting with flavor! They are only seasoned with sea salt, so I assume all of that flavor is coming from its star ingredient. Cassava, or yuca root. They are definitely killing the pop chip game, and I plan on ordering a big bag to take with me on vacation.

Darlington Snacks Appleways Crackers, 1.2oz

Unfortunately, I could not find these crackers to purchase online, but if I see them in store anywhere, I am definitely picking some up! Each soft, buttery hexagon is perfectly dashed with a ranch/veggie seasoning. These crackers have a 270 day shelf life, yet contain no preservatives; not sure how that magic works! I’ve visited this company’s website a few times in the last 48 hours, and it seems like they keep adding more and more, so maybe by the time this review is up they could hint at where to buy their products.

Verdict: Another great array of savory and sweet from SnackSack! I am happy to see their branding revamp did not hurt the quality of their service. Although there were a few snacks that didn’t wow me, I found a few that I will be purchasing in the near future (I’m coming for you, Belgian boys and Wai Lana!). Sampling new foods is a high for me, and I love that SnackSack points me in a healthier direction.

The Darlington crackers are indeed now available 🙂 The companies site has a contact -> store drop down which links you to their products on amazon. Everything seems to have low stock warnings at the moment, but are at least available for purchase. I’m sort of tempted to get some of the crackers just from your review….

Snacknation has the bean & veggie crackers, Amazon has them but they’re cheaper on SnackNation. The 1 oz bags are $1.

This box looks interesting. I like anything that has Belgian Boys products.
