Kira Kira Crate June 2018 Review

This box always comes with a booklet that describes all the items and how to use them, which is great because the majority of the packaging is written in Japanese! They also feature customer photos that use the hashtag #kirakiracrate to share on social media and include a great how-to on using the items in the box. The theme this month is “Beat the Heat,” so let’s see if these goodies help me do just that!

Nose Cleaning Brush

Nose Cleaning Brush

The unusual shape of this brush immediately grabbed my attention! It’s designed to get into the crevices around your nose and make things super-clean, and I loved it. The shape is genius, and since I tend to get oily around the nose, it was a perfect pick for me. I used this in conjunction with the toner, but more on the toner in a minute!

Peppermint Menthol Mask

I have been known from time to time to pop a mask in the fridge for an extra cool-down, but this menthol mask allowed me to skip that step! This was quite tingly! I imagine that my sensitive-skinned friends would have a hard time with the menthol in this mask, and the label advises those with dermatitis, eczema, and even a sunburn, to avoid its use. It was extremely refreshing, but I kept it more to the 10-15 minute window due to the sensation. It claimed to minimize pores, and I did feel as though mine were slightly smaller after using, which was awesome!

Little Twin Stars Blotting Sheets

Little Twin Stars Blotting Sheets

I actually used to carry blotting sheets a lot in my teens; I always had those blue Neutrogena ones in my purse! These are quite the upgrade; not only are they just as functional as the ones I used in my youth, but these are sooo cute! As I said, I do tend to get a bit oily around my nose, but I found myself using these on the hottest days of the month; there is something about sweating in the heat that activates extra sebum in my T-zone.

Liese Hair Styling Sheets

Readers, please check on your curly-haired friends. We are having a hard time this summer. My biggest beauty struggle is keeping frizz at bay when it’s this hot and this humid! However, I did feel as though these sheets offered some relief and tamed my tresses a bit. They boasted a fruity, floral scent, and I know this sounds insane, but when I sniffed them, I immediately recalled my teens, getting images of a fantastic roll-on glitter applicator I had in junior high. Bonus points to this item for the nostalgia!

Lemon Shower Gel

Lemon Shower Gel

I was especially grateful to the pamphlet for this item because I wasn’t totally sure what it was at first! It’s shower gel, about two showers’ worth, and it smells amaaaazing. I love lemon stuff anyway, but this has the lightly pleasing floral note that I’ve noticed many lemon items in this box tend to contain. It offered a nice lather and contains seawater, which claimed to absorb toxins. I’m not sure about that, but it did leave me feeling nice and clean with no residue.

5 Lanc Refreshing Toner

When I received this box, I immediately noticed that it was genuinely heavy, and I realized that this toner was why! I was so, so impressed by the sheer size of this product. I feel like the products in this are usually pretty generous, but this was 15.5 ounces - definitely full-size! This was my favorite smell in the entire box. It’s mint, but with an edge of floral notes, and it smells like freshly-picked mint from the garden, not an unpleasantly fake candy cane. I thought it worked super-well with the nose brush from earlier and made my face clean without being too drying.

Verdict: Kira Kira Crate always gives me a great experience every month. I really liked how much these items helped me look more put-together in this challenging season; the heat sometimes can really make my appearance sloppy! But when armed with the blotting sheets and the hair frizz sheets, I feel like I’m ready to face the high temperatures when I leave the house, and when I come home, the toner and nose brush are waiting for me, ready to wash off my day!
