Kira Kira Crate July 2018 Review
This box always comes with a booklet that describes all the items and how to use them, which is great because the majority of the packaging is written in Japanese! They also feature customer photos that use the hashtag #kirakiracrate to share on social media and include a great how-to on using the items in the box. The theme this month is “Rested Radiance,” a state of being I would be super-happy to achieve! Let’s see if this box leaves me glowy and invigorated, eh?
Bub Bub Sponge
I can safely say this was a brand-new item for me in this box! I was really excited to see this because lately, I’ve been feeling the need for a boost of exfoliation. This heat is killing me! I feel like I’m always sweating and that I’m constantly losing dead skin. Gross, I know, but thankfully this sponge is pretty and perfect for this purpose! You load the cleanser in bottom, then I ran mine lightly under tap water and gave it a couple of squeezes before using. The little “bristles” felt awesome on my face and I thought it did a better job of cleaning than just cleanser alone.
Aloe Face Wash
Aloe is so comforting to me - it always has my back (literally) when I get a sunburn! The first thing I noticed about this face wash is that it smelled super-fresh and citrusy. I thought this was a nice cleanser - it balanced its cleaning power with the gentle moisture of the aloe, and my face didn’t have that dry, “tight” feeling I’ve experienced with super-drying face wash.
Compressed Face Mask
These. Are. Awesome. Remember those washcloths that came in tablet form, and could be expanded by putting them in water? These face masks reminded me so much of them! The pamphlet directed me to add the collagen lotion to the water as these were hydrating, and it made these feel exactly like a sheet mask, fresh out of the package! I’m a sucker for a cool delivery method, and this was a great blend of novelty, nostalgia, and performance.
Collagen Lotion
This paired perfectly with the compressed face masks, but make no mistake; this lotion is good on its own, too! It has a pleasing, half-grassy, half-floral scent, and even though it’s thin, it is emollient. This didn’t feel greasy on my skin, and it’s supposed to have a one-two punch of vitamins that my skin needs to look its best. I used this on both my face and my arms and it felt really good, not leaving any sticky residue.
Cheek Roller
I have been intrigued by these, but if I’m being honest, I didn’t know how to best use a roller before I received this box! I learned that they are meant to improve blood circulation and to make sure your skin is retaining its collagen. I don’t know about the collagen bit, but wow, this is really fun to use. I find myself keeping it in a desk drawer and randomly running it over my face as I answer emails throughout the day, and I find it extremely soothing. Since it touches my face, I do try my best to keep it as clean as possible by wiping it down with a facial cloth, but overall this seems like a really easy addition to my day that hopefully shows improvement in my skin over time.
Verdict: I thought that this box, in particular, did an awesome job of curating a number of neat items that worked super-well together, creating an easy-to-follow beauty routine to keep my face as healthy as possible, which means it’ll look good, too! I was able to seamlessly integrate both the sponge and roller into my already-existing beauty routine, and the aloe cleanser and tablet face masks were some nice surprises that I wasn’t expecting. This month only had five items to offer, but I felt like everything was a higher value than what I usually receive, so it was a good tradeoff. This box always delivers items that I love learning about, and bring a lot of joy with it!
