Candy Club August 2018 Review

open Candy Club

Since it's getting hot out there now, Candy Club has added insulating material to prevent your candies from melting in transit.

You'll get info cards that describe the candy as well as list the nutritional info on the back.

loose Atkinson's slo poke candies

Atkinson's Slo-Poke Bite Size, 1.63 ounces

I don't know if it's just me but it seems like the loose candy amount keeps shrinking in this sub as time goes by. Maybe it's determined by the weight or cost of the candy, but I only received 9 Slo Pokes in this box. I rather like Slo Pokes because they are similar but chewier and easier to eat than a Sugar Daddy.

Fini 2 Faced Wheel Licorice looking down at Fini 2 Faced Wheel Licorice

Fini 2 Faced Wheel Licorice, 9.13 ounces

These looked so colorful and fun that I had to try them. I think I've had other brands before that tasted like plastic, but these are quite fruity! They're also really soft and taste fresh. Unlike some candies, the different colors here actually do taste different. They're fun to eat since you can unroll them and even pull the two flavors apart. These are great in my opinion!

Zachary Dark Chocolate Blueberries looking down at Zachary Dark Chocolate Blueberries

Zachary Dark Chocolate Blueberries, 11 ounces

I always choose at least one chocolate item in this sub to break up the fruity and gummy candies that I'm drawn to visually. These dark chocolate covered blueberries are amazing! I can't recall the last time I had something like this since I normally go for chocolate covered nuts or peanut buttery items, but these really have a wonderful fresh flavor. I've been into dark chocolate more as I get older and I have a feeling that this is the best way to get in some antioxidants! 😉

Sweet's Fruit Slices looking down at Sweet's Fruit Slices

Sweet's Fruit Slices, 9.63 ounces

Fruity gummies are a favorite of mine, so these fruit slices are right up my alley. They happen to be non-GMO and colored with natural vegetable extracts, so I feel a bit better about eating these over some other artificially colored ones. There are three colors/flavors that include orange, lemon, and pink grapefruit. The pink grapefruit is the best since they have a bit of tartness to them, but I rather like all of these.

Verdict: Soooo, I just realized that Candy Club's price went up by TEN DOLLARS a month. I'm not sure exactly when it happened, but I am just blown away. As I've mentioned in the last few reviews, traditional bulk candy shops charge you by weight, and Candy Club says they send *up to* 3 pounds of candy, but they are actually sending you candy by volume since they pack your choices into three 16 ounce containers. This seems a little tricky. The bonus loose candy weighed the least at just 1.63 ounces this month. Although I liked all of the candies I received, I got a total of 1.96 pounds (or 31.39 ounces) for what cost almost $50.00. Paying $24.99 per pound for this candy just seems outrageous to me personally.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? You won't get this exact box since you can either choose your candy or have it chosen at random for you and the selection changes all the time.

The price was outrageous before as is, now it’s just O_O ***
I’d rather go to a candy shop that sells in bulk bins, no thanks.

I used to have a sub to this but cancelled. They offer me 6 candies for $50 often with no subscription needed. It’s a 1 time purchase. Sounds like the better way to go.

I wonder if the price increase is related to the lawsuit. Trying to recoup some those costs. With this new pricing they will be out of business in no time.

You can get 5lb bags of gummies on Amazon for $12-15 total w free prime shipping. 😉

I always thought that they were overpriced, but now you may as well by Godiva as it’s a better quality. I don’t see this price hike lasting.

I bought a 3 pound canister of m&m’s at Costco for under $20. And it’ll last me a very long time too! This pricing is crazy.

Count me in on the “wow” sentiment. I subbed a couple of years ago and prepaid for 6 months and got the 6 candies for the price of 3 deal for the first month just to try to justify what I thought was paying alot for candy then. Since then they have raised the prices TWICE and you are most definitely right in believing the quantity of loose candy has gone down significantly too. When i subbed I was able to fill up an empty container with my loose candy. Now you got 9 pieces total?!?! I literally laughed when I saw the picture. No thanks.

I’m shocked this is still a thing! Their pricing has always been ridiculous, now it’s just worse. They used to send another pound of loose candy, not a little handful. Geez, go to albanesecandy dot com , buy it in bulk there for MUCH less!

I agree! A pound of gummies at albanese is $2.99

They didnt have chocolate blueberries, but the chocolate covered cranberries are $6.99

You can get the Brookside açaí blueberry bags over a pound for under $10 so this sub is nuts. It’s not like they’re sending Sugarfina .

Jenna

Wow. I thought the price was nuts before, but now? 50? Just wow.

Same here. I ordered a box a with a half off code (of the OLD price) and felt like I paid too much and canceled immediately after seeing the amount of candy. This reduced amount of candy and tremendous price increase is INSANE. There are so many other places to shop for this stuff online. I often order from Nuts.com for bulk candy and snacks. They have a huge selection and are so much cheaper.
