Bulu Box Weight Loss August 2018 Review

There are box variations, and sometimes rather heavy product promotion, so you may not always get the same box as someone else or be able to make the connection to weight loss for each product:

The information cards are now generic rather than describing your items.

There was also a lot of product literature this month. Some of this relates to items in the box and some do not.

Bulu Box Weight Loss August 2018 Burn Blend 1 Bulu Box Weight Loss August 2018 Burn Blend 2

Shapeologist Burn Blend, 2 capsules x 2 packets – Buy 60 capsules for $49.99 (found on sale here for $39.99)

This product shows up in Bulu Boxes from time to time. The capsules do contain gelatin. This has about the same amount of caffeine (maybe a little more) than a cup of coffee. It has Codonopsis pilosuela extract, which WebMD says there is insufficient evidence to support any efficacy, though this is sometimes used instead of ginseng. This also has Evodia rutaecarpa, a plant used in traditional Chinese medicine. It may reduce inflammation, but again, WebMD says there isn’t enough information. There are some other herbs for which I am getting similar results in web searches. Anyway, my suggestion is to avoid this if you are pregnant or nursing, have any heart or circulatory disorders (like hypertension), or are sensitive to caffeine, and do your research from independent, reputable sources, and ask your doctor if you have any doubts at all.

Bulu Box Weight Loss August 2018 CeruBeauti 1 Bulu Box Weight Loss August 2018 CeruBeauti 2

Ceru-BeautiPlus, 10 capsules – Buy 120 capsules for $32.99 (found on sale here for $28.99)

The primary benefit of this product seems to be that it contains collagen, which is documented to help with the appearance and health of skin, hair, and nails. Unfortunately, collagen is only available from animal sources and this also contains placenta powder (!) and gelatin, so I will be passing this along to someone else. This also contains vitamins A, C, and E, so you should be careful about taking it if you also take a regular multivitamin, since this is the retinol form of vitamin A, which is stored by the body and which can be toxic if you take too much. (The levels here are fine, the issue comes when you are also taking it from other sources.) For similar reasons, be careful about taking excess vitamin E. (Vitamin C is safe in high amounts as it is water-soluble.)

This product was also in the regular Bulu Box this month (reviewing coming soon).

Bulu Box Weight Loss August 2018 Elderberry 1 Bulu Box Weight Loss August 2018 Elderberry 2

Sambucol Black Elderberry Gummies, 2 gummies – Buy 30 gummies for $12.18

These are vegetarian, which is a gummy trend I fully support. They are pretty tasty, too. These have antioxidants and are supposed to support immunity. On the other hand, I am not sure I would purchase these just because if you start buying individual gummies for every possible supplement you could want to take, you would end up eating like 100 calories of just gummies per day. (Hey, that could work for some people.) These might be nice to keep around in cold and flu season.

This product was also in the regular Bulu Box this month (reviewing coming soon).

Bulu Box Weight Loss August 2018 Energy Shot

Yin and Yang Energy Ginseng Energy Shot in Acai Berry, 2 fl oz – Buy 9 bottles for $25

This is vegetarian and it is sweetened with stevia (as well as erythritol and monk fruit extract). Unfortunately, the stevia flavor was really noticeable for me. I am not really a regular consumer of energy shots so I can’t compare this to other products (the cost seems right in line with what you’d pay for products at a convenience store checkout). This has ginseng and green tea and some B vitamins, pretty standard ingredients for energy shots.

Bulu Box Weight Loss August 2018 Flyby 1 Bulu Box Weight Loss August 2018 Flyby 2

Flyby Capsules, 2 capsules x 2 packets – Get 6 sample packets for $0 (Buy 90 capsules here for $35.99)

I don’t drink and this has milk thistle, which is found in a lot of liver support supplements but which you should avoid if you are also allergic to ragweed (I definitely am). This also has prickly pear, a source of natural vitamin E, B vitamins (typically found in energy support supplements but also they help metabolize sugars), among other ingredients commonly found in products like this. So if this is something you are interested in, you should do some price comparisons because a lot of these products seem to have overlapping ingredients so you might as well try to save some money. I have to be honest, I don’t know what is up with getting hangover remedies from Bulu Box every month. It seems to me that having so many nights of excessive drinking that you would need to spring for a full-size bottle of this isn’t conducive to a healthy lifestyle or to weight loss (alcoholic beverages have calories…).

This product was also in the regular Bulu Box this month (reviewing coming soon).

Bulu Box Weight Loss August 2018 Nana Flakes

Nana Flakes, 6.2 g – Buy 1 pound for $21.99

Although I find it odd that the packet is marketed as a remedy for diarrhea and that the product is recommended for tube feeding patients on the back of the packet, this is just dried banana flakes. So I put some in a smoothie (I often add powdered fruits and vegetables). If you have trouble keeping fresh bananas around (our freezer is full of brown bananas that may one day become banana bread – or not) and want some added potassium in your diet, this could be useful.

This product was also in the regular Bulu Box this month (reviewing coming soon).

Bulu Box Weight Loss August 2018 Cookie 1 Bulu Box Weight Loss August 2018 Cookie 2

Nutri Snacks Sugar-Free Passion Fruit and Chia Cookies, 1.7 oz – Buy 6 boxes of 8 cookies for $40.24

My husband and I split these and we have decided, unfortunately, that we are not fans. These are crispy and have a lot of fiber, and they are sugar-free, so they could work if you are trying to minimize sugar intake. These are sweetened with stevia and I decided that I do strongly prefer the flavor of stevia in foods over the flavor of stevia in beverages. In general, though, we just didn’t think the passion fruit flavor works in cookie form.

This product was also in the regular Bulu Box this month (reviewing coming soon).

Bulu Box Weight Loss August 2018 Yumv 1 Bulu Box Weight Loss August 2018 Yumv 2

Yum-V’s Vitamin D3, 4 jellies – Buy 60 gummies for $12.99

These are pectin-based (so vegetarian). They are supposed to be “tooth-friendly,” whatever that means? They still have sugar in them but I think they won't stick to your teeth. Anyway, I tried these as well since they are also vegetarian and they taste fine. An important note is that you shouldn't just give your kids vitamin D without checking to see if you even need to supplement with it, first.

Verdict: There were eight samples this month. If you paid full price for this subscription, you paid about $1.25 each. Various other deals are possible, depending on the coupon code you use at sign-up, so your cost could be less. I was pleased that there were a few vegetarian supplements this month, but I would not count on receiving vegetarian or vegan samples every month. I was also pleased to see a sample that directly relates to weight loss as sometimes it is hard to relate the box contents to that goal.

I’d strongly recommend using our MYSUB799 coupon code when you subscribe and choosing either the regular or the weight loss box, but not both since there is a lot of product repetition between the two. (In fact, this month’s Bulu Box Weight Loss version had four overlapping products with the regular Bulu Box.) Please also note that instead of getting points you can redeem for merchandise if you review your samples, now you get sweepstakes entries, which isn’t as good of a deal (unless you are the winner…). It’s partly because they stopped selling most of the samples in their shop and instead send you to Amazon (with a referral link).

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, September would be your first shipment. Also, keep in mind that there are variations in the boxes, so your box might not be exactly like mine in any given month.

Coupon - Use our coupon code MYSUB799 to get your subscription at $7.99 per month, for the lifetime of the subscription!

Value Breakdown: This box has various prices depending on the promotion you used when you signed up.  Subscribers at full price are paying about $1.25 per sample.

i can’t get a straight answer from bulu’s customer service. I am signed up for their fitness box but i have received the weight loss box for two months now. Really considering canceling my subscription. Has anyone else been receiving the wrong box?

I recently cancelled my bulu sub.. I had it for a very long time, it used to be great, lots of full size supplements. The last year has been terrible and I finally gave up. I’m sad bulu went down in quality. I found several things I now use because I tried them through bulu, it was so helpful to get a full month worth of supplements to give them a good try.

They were great a couple of years ago. I cancelled my renewal. I signed up for a year last Black Friday when it was $57.60 for the year, but even at that price it’s not worth it anymore. The fitness tracker a few months ago was great, but that’s been it. Since they got rid of the rewards points it’s really gone downhill in my opinion.

This is why I cancelled my box after two months. There is absolutely nothing in here that has to do with weight loss.

Placenta powder??? The Placenta of what and why on Earth would I eat it?!? I’m not sure what is in my box this month, but that 1 sample is being passed on to someone braver than me. Thanks for the review.

Ragan

Yeah, it doesn’t say what kind of placenta.

For what it’s worth, most commercial products that identify the source use sheep (ovine) placenta powder. It is supposed to be rich in growth factors and other anti-aging compounds (whether it is effective is another matter, entirely) and frequently appears alongside collagen.

Thanks for the info. Poor lambs. I’m open to trying lots of things, but that just makes me think of Kutti pi, which is another hard pass.
