BohoBabe August 2018 Review

BohoBabe welcomes you to your box with this Thank You card, the reverse side of which includes a packing list with listed values.

The Happi Empire Create Your Dreams Action Pad — Listed Value $10.89 (£8.00)

This inspirational pad is adorable. It's filled with tear-out pages that offer action items for manifesting your dreams. It's organized so that you can fill it with ideas big and small. I think I'll get started with kind of a big one, which is starting to think about what I need to do to get my garden ready for fall. Filling out actionable items will help me avoid procrastination!

Sacred Moon Song Sacred Elixir Manifestation Infuser — Listed Value $15.00

This little vial filled with small Amazonite and Amethyst stones is meant to infuse your water with sacred properties. The directions say not to take the lid off the vial—just to stick the entire thing into your glass. I'm not totally sure I can see this being realistic to use day to day, but it's a cool novel item!

Stardust Has Erupted Intuitive Card Reading — Listed Value $7.77

This card offers a mysterious service—I'm not sure what an intuitive card reading is, but I'm intrigued! On the business card is an email address (hidden for review) so you can contact someone at Stardust Has Erupted to claim your reading. I'd love to hear about your experiences with this in the comments section!

Leftover Hippies Palo Santo Incense, 6 Sticks — Retail Value $6.99

Can't go wrong with some good incense! I love the scent of Palo Santo, but sometimes it's hard to keep it lit for long periods of time without tending to it, so I'm excited for these incense sticks. They're shorter than the average, but they'll be perfect for burning in the morning before work when I'm going to be leaving soon.

Here's some info on the shop that sells the incense and on Palo Santo.

BohoBabe Clear Quartz Crystal Gold-Dipped Necklace — Retail Value $28.00

This necklace is great for dressing up or down. The clear crystal makes it versatile to style and the length makes it really shine within a number of necklines!

Here you can see how large the stone really is. Pretty, isn't it?

Sierra Bath & Beauty Smokey Quartz Geode Soap, 2g — Listed Value $5.00

This soap smells so good! It's molded to look like a geode, which would make an awesome gift. For this reason and because it's gilded—and I'm not someone who particularly likes to bathe in glitter (my younger self would be aghast to hear me claim that)—I decided to keep this soap in the wrapper and save it to pass along to a friend.

PaperLoveBugs Cruelty-Free Hand Painted Feather — Listed Value $1.00

Every month's BohoBabe includes a feather that's either dipped in gold or, in this case, polka-dotted with glitter. They make cute additions to wrapped gifts!

Bonus: Geode Sticky Notes — Estimated Value $2

This isn't listed on the info card, but I can't wait to use it at my desk! It's a small pad of sticky notes designed to look like a geode. Its design is watercolor-inspired, so it's faint enough that you should still be able to see writing clearly on top of it.

Bonus: Postcard — Estimated Value $1

Finally, a bonus postcard. It's got a simple mandala design so you can use it for any occasion. Just recently, a friend got me a gift that I wrote her a thank you for. I popped it in the mail and on the same day she gave me another thoughtful present! I might use this postcard just to send along another, briefer, note of thanks.

The Verdict: This month's BohoBabe box had a great variety! The manifestation pages and stone infuser are really unique items, while the necklace and soap are along the lines of other items I've received in past boxes, but are the reason why this box is so great. The contents of this month's box add up to about $77.65, which was calculated using a mix of listed values, retail values, and estimated prices for some of the lower ticket bonus items. It was a very full box and adds up to a good value for a $39.99 per month (now with free US shipping!) subscription.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? If you sign up for a subscription, you will receive the September box. However, one-time August boxes are still available for purchase!

ACTIVE DEAL: Save 15% off your first box!

Value Breakdown: This box costs $39.99 (+ free shipping), and inside of it came 7 items (not including the bonus items). That breaks down to approximately $5.71 per item.

Hi there, I'm Christen. I am all sorts of things:

🌳 a writer who loves to convey feeling

🌲 a mother who wants to have just as much fun as my kids do

🌳 an outdoors-lover who's achieved #1000hoursoutside with my family

🌲 a low-maintenance self-carer

🌳 a general hungry person with an unstoppable sweet tooth

You'll find me collecting stationery and squirreling away stickers, riding bikes and swimming with my family, creating outfits in colors and silhouettes that make me feel amazing, wearing big earrings, drinking beer and asking my husband to feed me harmonies to sing, taking my vitamins, living for dancing to live music, roping everyone into a craft, being human and vulnerable, and celebrating the phenomenon of being alive.

...and doing it all with energy, delight, and jokes along the way.

Not sure if it’s a recent change since this review, but the price for this box is now $49.99 on their website. I was going to subscribe for September, but that’s significantly more than the $39.99 I was planning on. 😕

Love that necklace! However, there’s no such thing as a cruelty free feather. Unless someone is wandering around picking feathers up off the ground (which is time consuming and also gross) I would guarantee these feathers come from birds raised for food, or for feathers. There’s definitely no such thing as a synthetic feather, since feathers are so cheap and faking them would be incredibly hard and prohibitively expensive.

It’s the same thing as a makeup brush made of natural hair claiming to be “cruelty free.” No one is out there catching and shaving squirrels, and even if they were the resulting brushes would be awful since the cuticles would be in all different directions and the pieces short and messy.

I really like that necklace!

I really like the theme and items in the box. The only thing is the stones to infuse water, the glass bottle or lid doesn’t have any way for water to get into it? Then how does it infuse your water lol. I’m a newbie when it comes to these things though so if someone knows, let me know!

Hi Nikkim! Great question! So what you’ll do is keep all of the crystals inside the vial and carefully drop the whole vial into your water (please be gentle so the glass doesn’t break). The lid is leak tested so just keep it closed, and no water will go in it. If you open it, this will likely expose the inner to moisture and air which will let bacteria sneak in. The whole thing is sterilized and to care for it, wash by hand with soap and water in-between each use. Once the vial is in your water (regular cup or to go cup), the crystals will start to infuse the water with their cleansing/charging properties (yes, through the glass! :)). There are cards included in your bag that tell you about each of the crystals that are in your vials as well as a small piece of sage for aromatherapy purposes. Each vial has different gemstones and are all focused on manifestation so, wherever you’re at in life and whatever you need at the moment, find a mantra that matches to say when you place this into your glass. It’ll make it that much more special. <3 If you need a recommendation, let me know what you are wanting to manifest and I'll send one over to you.

A little history: Since ancient times, crystals elixirs have been used for their powerful energetic healing properties. Crystals can help heal deep-seated issues, bringing forth good health and greater happiness. Each crystal has its own unique healing properties — some are best suited for abundance and prosperity, while others are better for love, relationships and harmony, or even protection and shielding. Sacred Moonsong Sacred Elixir Manifestation Infuser let you reap the benefits of crystal healing during yoga, work, play, or on the go.
