Benevolent Beauty Mystery Box Review

Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish in London Snog

Trust Fund Beauty Nail Polish in London Snog, Full-Size! - Estimated Value $15

This looks to be a discontinued shade from Trust Fund Beauty as I could not find it for sale online from a reliable source, but I am not bothered by that because I absolutely LOVE it!

This is a great cool-toned grey crème polish that applied smoothly and evenly. I used two coats for the photo above, and I thought it looked absolutely stellar with the silver glitter from my Luna Babe box.

Seraphine Botanicals Fig Butter Lip and Cheek Stain,

Seraphine Botanicals Fig Butter Lip and Cheek Stain, Full-Size! - Retail Value $24

I am not much of a cheek stain person, and while I love lip stains this is really too creamy to provide the punch of long-lasting color I want from a stain. That aside, however, this was a creamy and comfortable lip butter that moisturized my lips thanks to the Shea butter! This provided a great sheer wash of color that is great to reach for on the days I am not wearing makeup but want more than my basic chapstick.

Doucce Punk Volumizer Mascara, Full-Size! - Retail Value $24

I am really quite tired of seeing Doucce in subscription boxes, but I actually liked this mascara (the same cannot be said for the other products I have tried). The big fluffy brush provided great curl and length, and my only complaint is that it was a bit difficult to get super close to the base of my lashes due to the brush size.

Pure Elements YOUTH Exfoliating Botanical Mask, 2 oz

Pure Elements YOUTH Exfoliating Botanical Mask, 2 oz – Retail Value $19.99

This mask has a great earthy scent and turns a gorgeous berry color when mixed with a liquid (Hibiscus powder, I see you!). I mixed this with a few drops of apple cider vinegar until a paste formed, and I left it on my skin for about 8 minutes (the instructions suggest 5-15 minutes). The exfoliation was really gentle which is what I prefer, and my face felt soft and smooth after using. This also didn't irritate my skin, which has been extra sensitive since I tried the Farmacy mask from Boxycharm and had an allergic reaction. This 2 oz jar should last me a while, and I will happily use it thanks to all of the great natural ingredients this mask is made of- White Kaolin Clay, hibiscus flower powder, matcha green tea powder, and rosehip powder!

Johnny Concert Amplified Eyeshadow in Oh My Goddess, Full-Size! - Retail Value $15

This shimmery golden champagne eyeshadow varies in intensity depending on if you apply it with a wet or dry brush. Dry I found the eyeshadow to blend beautifully and be a great highlighting shade, while wet the shimmer really packs a punch and would do great as the starring color at the center of the lid in a complete eye look. The formula was buttery and easy to apply, too.

Here is the eyeshadow swatched (dry) above the fig butter.

Starlooks Makeup Remover Pen, Full-Size! - Retail Value $14

Oh boy—the user error was strong with this one. I love the idea of makeup removing pens for touching up eyeliner and other makeup mishaps, but when I first opened it I thought the tip felt rather dry. I thought this was the kind of product where you push the tip down until liquid flows through, so I did just that—and the tip never popped back up. Due to my mistake, I was unable to try it, but I will say that I have enjoyed the other products from Starlooks I have tried!

The Verdict: This was my first experience with Benevolent Beauty Box, and I really thought this was a good selection of items for a mystery box. Benevolent Beauty Box promised at least five items with a value of at least $100, and I received 6 items with a value of about $112. I appreciate that all of the items were full-size, ingredient conscious, and cruelty-free, and I like that all of the items are useful makeup items that should work for a variety of people. I think this box is a good value for $27.95, and an even better value if you got it during the 25% off sale!

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

I was very happy with mine. They were different products from this review except I did get the exfoliating mask. My favorite item was a Vapour multi task blush stick; it’s gorgeous.

I can verify that the makeup remover pen works flawlessly! I also thought something was wrong with it but happened to just touch it to a swatch on my wrist and it worked! It’s definitely magic.

Thanks for the great review! I got this box and was overall happy even though they weren’t all hits for me.
